Ok folks, we now have the arrangements for our accommodation finalised, so just to recap:
The following info is for anyone wishing to go to the Seattle Avatar Fan meet-up for the long awaited opening of the Avatar Exhibition at the Science Fiction Museum over the weekend of 4th and 5th June. The deal is as follows:
The lady at the Travelodge has said: ”…Generally we require at least 10 rooms for the group discount, but since you already have 7, that’s fine….As of right now, we have plenty of rooms available, but within the next couple months we’re going to start getting a lot reservations for that time of year. I would recommend letting me know within the next month.” However, I would suggest that to avoid any disappointment we make our bookings as soon as possible so we can start thinking about how we would like to spend our time together there, i.e. the fun stuff! So how do you make a booking?: Quite simply you can either ring them up or email them giving the following information:
To make your booking simply contact the Travelodge by either calling 206-441-7878 or email them on: GuestServices@TravelodgeSeattleCenter.com. If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'll do my best to help out. Oel ngati kameie...soon, Alan |
Irayo, Alan, for posting all this info! I'm going to book my hotel room ASAP.
Also, I got the following additional response from the museum box office (after I sent them an email with a question to further clarify what they had told me initially): "You may purchase tickets in advance online at anytime- those tickets will be good for one year from the purchase date and will include admission into Avatar: The Exhibit. If you are purchasing tickets for a group of 9 or more, please call Brady at 206.770.2776." Thanks! Sami So as soon as we know if we have a group of 9 or more (or as soon as we know how many of us there will be at the museum on June 4th, regardless), we should purchase the museum tickets. |
@Alan: nice work! now we have all of the details, once I get the chance, I'll be sure to book.

Kaltxi Aketuan,
I had a thought go through my head (it echoed a bit :shoop:) Anyway, hows this for a plan? I suspect we will spend the whole of Saturday in the Science Fiction Museum so it might well be worth going with the Gruop Ticket the CyanRachel has found out about for us. Then on the Sunday we could go with the cityPASS as it still allows entry to the Science Fiction Museum - just incase we still need to polish the exhibition off - before exploring hometree and the Pandoran jungle....errr...I mean the space Needle and city sights.:xD: It might be a rough plan to start with? Just a thought anyway. :) Alan |
Kaltxi folks,
I've just had the following information from the Travelodge regarding the 4th June meet-up: -----------------------------------------------------------------------The above room rate includes COMPLIMENTARY HOT & COLD BREAKFAST from 6:30am - 9:30am. To make reservations: Please call (206) 441-7878, 800-578-7878 or email to guestservices@TravelodgeSeattleCenter.com. They are to mention the "Avatar Fan Communities" giving the reservationist their arrival date, names, address and credit card infomation. Note: All reservations must be made no later than May 2nd, 2011 to recieve the Group Rate. After this date they will be subject to the standard rates. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- They have already started taking reservations and currently holding 5 x 1 bed rooms and 5 x 2 bed rooms, but you can state your preference. Just remember to state Avatar Fan Communities when reserving your room to get the discount. They added that "We’ve already started receiving reservations, so your group is all set." So I think we are off and running folks! Alan |
I am in alan as you know, I will book the room, this week, I will join the ticket group too!!
and the plane aswell. I look forward in meeting you all. |
Irayo, Alan, for posting the additional info -- well done!
I booked my hotel room yesterday. And I like your idea of the group rate tickets for the museum on June 4th, and the City Pass for the rest of our time in Seattle. |
Thanks Alan for the info! I take it you make the reservation now, and then when you arrive you pay for the rooms? I'm not sure I have the funds necessary to pay for it all right now....

Once again thanks for all the info, Alan! :)
I am going to be sharing a room with miss tammy and we're going to be making our reservations as soon as we can. I also think that the group discount on Scifi museum tickets is a great idea. To whomever is ordering the tickets, you can definitely put myself and miss tammy down for a ticket each. I was looking up the citypass and the only thing that worries me about that is I don't know if it would be worth the money to some people. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Monday afternoon and with Saturday being completely filled with the Avatar exhibit, I just don't know if I'd have the time to go to all the places the citypass allows. If people were staying for longer periods of time, it would probably be a great idea to get one. If we could get an idea of what everyone would like to do, maybe we could figure out who would and wouldn't benefit from the pass. |

Also, I just sent out the first newsletter with some good info on the hotel situation, and ticket situation...I think we are up to 11 people signed up for it now... HOWEVER: 1. there are some compatibility issues with certain browsers and email providers, so if it doesn't work you can click on the html file link sent with it (preferably) or the PDF direct link. 2. Some computers see it as a "threat" because it has html code in it, I swear that I did not add some random virus into it... :P so just tell the browser to accept it/download it/view it/whatever... ALSO: This is the first one, so there is definitely room for improvement or changes, so please tell me if something isn't right or if you have something to add to the next one, just tell me. |

I also received your newsletter with no problems. Other than the Avatar exhibit, I would like to go up in the Space Needle and to the Aquarium. If everyone would be up for it, I had a thought that the whole clan could go out and have a nice dinner together. Does anybody else have any ideas as to what they want to do? |

And the total is now EDIT: 15 people from 4 different forums(still working on Naviblue...)....and counting. Oh, and if anyone has anything specific that they want added to the next newsletter (maybe some new info on something?), just tell me. :D |
WOOHOO! I just purchased my plane ticket yesterday for Seattle and my sweet friend FIYERWALL reserved our room at the Travel Lodge. My flight gets in at 1:15 on June 3 and I am leaving on June 6 @ 9:40am. I would love to stay longer but got to get back to the job. :( I can't wait to meet all my awesome Avatarian friends!! Gonna have a great time I am sure!;):awesome:

Excellent Miss Tammie. Looking forward to seeing you all. As of right now (4th March) we are exactly three months away from walking up to the Science Fiction Museum as one clan to get inside the film that brought us all together...
Oel ngati kameie...soon Alan |
o__o
I never expected this to turn out this way when I started the thread. Needless to say, I am quite excited. Another note is that I've been to the scifi museum before; there's a lot more there than just the Avatar exhibit; that will probably wind up being at the end of the museum, where they rotating exhibit room is. The parts before it are all very interesting as well; different sections dedicated to all sorts and aspects of science fiction and it's history, and an awesome gift shop full of shirts, hats, coffee mugs, and collectible action figures and model kits, if you're into that sort of thing. :D'''''' As for the room I suspect the Avatar stuff to be in, its pretty big. It was a while ago now, but I recollect it being slightly smaller than a high-school gym in terms of floor space, albeit not as tall. I look forward to seeing all of you there. |
Can't wait to meet you all! I never expected such a group! :D

EDIT: I should add that I made every effort to peer through the cracks in the doors and around the posters to see if any Avatar-ness could be glimpsed, but no luck. :( |
Thanks for the news, Eywa's Pet and Raiden!
You know, since there are now 15 people signed up for the newsletter, that's certainly enough to get the group admission tickets for the Avatar exhibit. Though I think perhaps we should wait until, maybe, later on this month, before purchasing the tickets (in case some more people decide to join us for the exhibit's opening). What do you all think? Should we just get the tickets now and not wait any longer? Or should we post a "deadline" for anyone else to let us know if they're going to join us, and then get the tickets after that? |
Quote:
(also if we decide not to do most of the things on the citypass, then it wouldn't be worth it, and instead we should get the tickets individually.) What does everyone else want to do? |
Quote:
That makes me even more excited. I hope they still have the gift shop though. **peers above his desk and wonders how many more figures he can cram on the shelves** @_____@ |
Cool, I am very excited to go! It will be great I am sure!

Well, the Travelodge lady said that they keep the group booking open until a month before the check in day, after which they release the unreserved rooms. The date for this, for us, is 2nd May. So perhaps we should make this our cut off day too. That should give us enough time to sort out the complete list of who is going and sort out exhibition ticket and city passes, plus anything else. It would be great to eat all together too at least once. That might be something that we would need to consider before we go too. I mean we're going to possibly take up quite a bit of space in a restaurant and they might need some time to get Sturmbeest in. ;) Maybe for the moment we need to make sure as many aysmukan sì aysmuke are made aware of our meet up so they have to opportunity to join us. We can also find out what other cool things people would like to do there. I think so far we have...

Kaltxi, Alan and Aketuan.
I think it would be best to get the group admission tickets for the Avatar exhibit for the opening day June 4th, and then get City Passes for the rest of the days. I don't think we need to get the Passes in advance -- I think we can get them when we arrive in Seattle (but don't quote me on that). However, we should definitely get the group admission tickets in advance, and I would say maybe a bit sooner than May 2nd, just so we don't run the risk of tickets for the opening day being sold out before we have a chance to get them. And I agree -- we should definitely try to have at least one meal together in one of the Seattle restaurants -- a big group lunch or dinner (dinner would probably be best?). That would be great! |
Quote:
As for the restaurants, I can repost the list I made. I believe that it's on the 4th or 5th page of this thread. One place has a complimentary limo service if you make reservations. Can you image all of us piling out of a limo wearing all of our Avatar gear? ;) |
Quote:
I know of for sure Alan, CyanRachel, Fiyerwall, Aketuan, Misstammie, Raiden, Eywa's Pet, James of Terra.....That makes 8, one short of getting the discount. However there are about 6 people that might be going, so if one went we would have the numbers. So that being said, how do we get the group discount and buy the tickets separately? Also, should we wait just a little bit to get the citypass tickets? If everyone agrees that that list of places is a good list of places to go, then maybe those who are staying more than a day or two should purchase that now? Here is the list of ideas so far: -Avatar Exhibit :D *** -Avatar IMAX SPC *** -Urban hiking -Hiking trail (Mount Si) -Space Needle *** -Harbor Tours *** -Woodland Zoo *** -Monorail -Flight Museum *** -Seattle Aquarium *** *** means it is covered in the citypass ticket Also I agree about the dinner as a clan thing. Probably Saturday night, that being the time that the most people will be there...maybe also a few more dinners/lunches/breakfasts together at some point. The limo idea sounds kind of neat, and the space needle might be a neat place as well....hmm maybe take a vote on the place. Last thing - everyone should post what day they are arriving and what day they are departing so we can get an organized idea of when everyone will be in Seattle, to plan out events. We have Alan, CyanRachel, and Aketuan's days of departure and arrival. So we need everyone else's... Alan --- June 2nd - June 7th CyanRachel --- June 2nd - June 7th Aketuan --- June 3rd - June 7th |
Kaltxi friends,:hi:
Well I think we are all agreed that we should get the tickets for the Avatar exhibition sooner rather than later. Should we just get them now as we are more than likely going to be able to make the 9 people required and even if we don't, we can rope in a tsmuke or tsmukan who is bound to be there;) I really like the idea of a meal altogether, especially if it was up in the Space Needle. However, I think it is a bit pricey up there. Having said that it would be like a clan meal in Hometree. Wouldn't that make a most memorable day: Avatar exhibition, meal up in Hometree followed by watching Avatar together in the IMAX! What a night to remember !:awesome: Just as an aside I asked the Travelodge how many people had made reservations and the replied: 3 :P Hey, Aketuan, just seen your latest newsletter and it looks as excellent as ever. Well done ma tsmukan.:hi: |
I am going to seattle as well hope to see alot of yous there will be in seattle on the 3rd of june and will be leaving on the 5th of june
|
I will be arriving in Seattle on June 3rd around noon and will be leaving June 6th around noon.
I was looking through the notes I took from the guidebooks and it said that food in the Space Needle restaurant starts at $21 and that's the lowest range for lunch. |
I can now say with 100% certainty that I will be coming.
I will call the hotel tomorrow after work. So far it appears that I will arrive sometime in the afternoon on the 3rd. |
YAAAAYYYY! Sturmbeest hunt!!! HELL YEAHHH!!!
Saddle up your Ikrans!:xD::xD::party::party: *Goes to breath into a brown paper bag to calm down* Sorry, I got all excited there...:) |

First, glad to hear Avatar Guy and Raiden will be joining us in Seattle -- Yay!
Now, with the tickets to the Avatar exhibit, I was told to call a certain number at the museum to speak with a certain person there if we're going to do the group admission thing. We need 9 or more people, and so far there's 13 by my count -- this includes everyone here who said they're coming, and 4 other fellow Avatarans from the Naviblue forum (OmaticayaClan plus 2 friends and a boyfriend). Now I *think* how it works is *one* person contacts the museum and orders all the tickets at the group admission price (like, say, the box office would ask for the number of people in our group, and that's how many tickets we'd get at the group rate). If it works out that the tickets can be held at the museum box office for us to pick up the day we arrive there, I think that would be the best. How about this: We purchase the exhibit tickets *either* at the end of this month, or, at the end of April at the latest. What say you all? I think we can wait to get the City Passes -- no rush on those. |

I know we have been discussing a place to have a clan meal and I found a nice restaurant that, I think, would suit us very well. It's called the Palisade and the food can be expensive, but they also have items that are under $20. The address is palisaderestaurant.com and you can see some of the menu and the prices for yourself. The place has a fantastic view of Elliott Bay and most of Seattle and it has trees and a pond that goes through almost the whole restaurant. If you go to this link, you'll find some photos of the place and the food they serve. What do you think? Photos for Palisade Restaurant | Yelp |

@Fiyerwall: Not a bad place to eat...I think it would do just fine. We don't just have to pick one either since most of us will be in Seattle two nights at least, but for Saturday night we should pick the one everyone thinks is best. AND......I have the updated info with who is going and the days!! :D http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/703/48257261.png If anything is wrong or you would like to update something just send me a pm. |

Agreed the city passes can wait. I think it would take some doing for us to over book Seattle!! :xD: |
