So you think Avatar has left the building...errr...cinema?

Well you would be wrong! I just happened to be looking up what was showing at the IMAX in Birmingham (UK) recently and, blow me over with a thanator f*rt, Avatar SE is still on the fixture list.

It is showing on the 2nd and 5th Feb! Check it out:

Who is up for the Saturday showing?

tallbluewanderer 02-01-2011 07:43 PM

That's... that's... that's just not fair. It's not playing anywhere in California! :(

You lucky swine. Enjoy it! :D

Alan 02-01-2011 08:59 PM

Really? Wow, I am surprised. That is where is was filmed wasn't it? I would have thought they would have kept it going there. Sorry to hear that. :(

I'll be meeting up with Solarwind hopefully to watch it.:)

Stanley_9875 02-01-2011 10:04 PM

Wow lucky! I'd still be seeing it in theaters if they had it available out here (im in California also)

But goes to show one thing...

AVATAR IS KING!!!

X.,.Pandora.,.X 02-01-2011 10:07 PM

I want an Imax :(

Elyannia 02-01-2011 10:09 PM

Booo no Avatar SE showing in Colorado either. :( All the more excuse to send me off to family in the UK? XD

Empty Glass 02-01-2011 10:38 PM

Californian #3 and I'd also be down for seeing it again in IMAX 3D, 'cause I'm not gonna be able to wait until 2014! :P

Elyannia 02-02-2011 12:15 AM

I haven't tried checking out the smaller theaters yet. They usually play movies that are like 1-3 years old XD

Three of you in California! I think that constitutes a Meet Up! :xD: Maybe find out who's got the biggest TV and make your own cinema! Better still Video projector - YEAH! Sorry I'm not helping much, am I?

That's a good idea, Elyannia. Never thought of that.

ahoragi 02-02-2011 06:48 AM

Wow, it's still playing. For some reason that does not surprise me. ;)

This is another reason and motivation for me to get that 3D tv so I can watch it in 3D like you still can. ;) I opened a savings account called "Pandora" to fund this Panasonic 3D tv setup. Fitting, ain't it? :)

Alas, none of the small theatres here are playing it. I'll probably have to wait a year or two...

Empty Glass 02-02-2011 08:23 AM

Haha, no worries Alan! And hey, a meetup - I'd be down for that, and I know there's a few more of us in California anyways. But I'll be the first to say that my TV isn't big enough!

Helicoradian 02-02-2011 09:46 AM

I'm hoping whenever there's a long gap between new releases or a drop in attendance the Imax near me will bring it back for a few showings.

Enjoy it for those of us who can't, Alan (in theater anyways :()

Apollo 02-02-2011 10:27 AM

Connect the Imax to your xbox live, we can all have an 'audience' viewing.

Jesus do I miss seeing this in the cinema.

Yeah, having an IMAX screen in my house would be nice. ;)

Anyway, wish I could join you in Birmingham, Alan. Have fun at the IMAX! :)
