Clive Barker's Jericho:
(Story explained in 3rd video) Granted the AI isn't the smartest ever, yet the backstory of the characters and the main story is the best I've seen. Using an US Occult warfare division to stop the firstborn from taking more of the world into the pyxis and going through hellish eras of Rome, Crusades, WWII and Sumeria to confront the firstborn. Clive Barker is a master at creating a good horror story and interesting enemies as well as an engaging story, plus all the characters have unique abilities and you use the leader even after he has been killed. The areas that you go into are huge and they also have interesting touches, such as roman mosaics and crucifixes around. |

Also, I would probably add Sins of A Solar Empire. Waaaaaay underated for a game of it's caliber. Granted though, you need a lot of patience to get through just one match. :D |

Marc Ecco's Getting Up : Contents Under Pressure
Yeah, it's a game about graffiti, and no, it's not particularly deep or anything, but it has some of the best atmosphere, graphical style, and control systems for actually doing the graffiti are really very brilliant... A massive success for a game without player guns of any kind. ;) |
Interesting idea I guess, definitely original :P

Loved this game! |
Still my favorite RTS of all time. Brilliant gameplay, amazingly complex multiplayer, and a deep storyline that still can give me a few tears/shivers when I replay it. |
^Seconded.
