The most annoying boss
For me it was Murai (Ninja Gaiden). In hard mode is not to bite, and also Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) -I can't begin to say how much time I spent on trying to beat him. :hmm:
|
The Yolk-Star™
http://images.wikia.com/starships/im...olk_star_1.jpg From Chicken Invaders III: Revenge of the Yolk-Star™ for the PC platform. Far from the most difficult boss I've faced in a game, but definitely the most annoying. Why? Because when spending a full day playing through the game at the hardest difficulty without dying once, to get the most prestigious award you can get, this final boss splatters you utterly, forcing you to start all over from the beginning. Man, I hate chickens. |
Yolk-Star! :D I love it.
Sephiroth was nasty. I guess I'm odd, though, because I struggled more with some of the earlier bosses in FF VII than with Sephiroth--wow, this is making me want to play it again. Oh no! I have a dual pick here: Most annoying (most difficult): Mega Man 1, first boss of Dr. Wily's stage (the screen-high robot who breaks into tiny pieces and moves himself from one side of the screen to the other). I was never able to beat him without cheating. Still can't. And yes, I still play those old Mega Man games once or twice a month (gotta love the Wii VC!). Most annoying (most galling): The final boss of Capcom's Ghouls 'n' Ghosts (Sega Genesis or arcade) who you'd defeat with ease and then find out that you had to complete the entire game again in order to *actually* win. :P Grrrr.... |
Sarth 3D pre 3.1.

The most original boss, I've seen - head programmer of the game Skullmonkeys. :P

-the giant sewer monster in level 8 of Star Wars Shadows of The Empire (N64) i hate that mother****er
-the jack in the box which is inside king k rool's ship in Donkey Kong 64 -general that turns invisible in killzone 2 -final boss in Turok 2 (N64) -baron samedi from Goldeneye N64, not the boss himself but how you have to defeat him (need to get the golden gun and i couldn't figure out the specific path to reach it so i ended up looking it up and finally got it, but now i forgot) |
But man, the following ÜBER EPIC cutscene sure was worth it! :D

And for me it was the dude on NFS: Carbon, he would always laugh and stuff at you and he had the freaking awesome car and I had a muscle car. Took me a couple weeks to finally beat him. The Guy on Heavenly Sword, I still haven't beat him yet. |
Sniper fight with the end (mgs3) It just takes so long to defeat him, assuming he doesn't sneak up behind you.

Mass Effect 2 has a big anticlimax for the final boss too actually, although not as much of one as ME1 :P Not actually a boss, but the worst thing in Mass Effect is Horizon on Insanity. It took me hours, when even on Insanity, I didn't need to restart most parts more than 2-3 times. Anyway, the worst boss: The Core in Cave Story, easily  As for The End, he's hard if you take him on properly, but easy if you put on your thermal goggles and sneak up on him, he will likely escape a few times but he's still quite a bit easier to kill, and his footprints always appear with the thermal goggles. You can also place mines where he moves, which is one way if you can remember where you put them :P
Spoiler: alternatively...

Ah Sephiroth! That is truly an incredibly tough battle, if you weren't prepared. It's tough enough with the two "practice" boss battles beforehand.
His signature move annoyed me the most. Not because it dealt roughly 95% damage to all your team but the fact that it takes a lifetime for him to actually execute it. There's basically a mini-cutscene just to deploy that move. Sephiroth -- deadly battle, worthy climax to an incredible RPG! |

The ones from the original series are a pain, but you've seen NOTHING until you played the X and Zero series. I can make a list of 10+ bosses from those games alone that were overly difficult. There are a couple of them that are so strong that you can't win unless you find some kind of secret upgrade. Hmmm, who else? Oh, pretty much every SNK fighter boss character. Krizalid is my favorite, though. Omega Rugal was the worst one; a couple of his moves had hitboxes that filled the whole screen vertically. The walking brain-mecha from Metal Slug 6 is pretty cheap. I still haven't found a way through his attack pattern....Rootmars from MS3 and the Jupiter King from the same game were also pretty tough fights. I've only ever beaten the Jupiter King without dying *once*, and it only works if you do the rest of the level perfectly. The bosses from Ghouls and Ghosts/Super Ghouls and Ghosts were also really annoying. Especially when you get through the whole game only to have it send you back to square one to find a magic bracelet that you need to damage the final boss .____. ^ I actually didn't even notice that I already quoted this until I posted it. That should show people how ridiculous that game/games are. |

Holy crap, I know every single one of those bosses. That jack in the box on DK 64 with Dixie Kong was a bitch!! The End though in MGS3 I thought was easy, it was not knowing what the heck to do with The Sorrow at the end that pissed me off. I quit playing that for months till I decided to google it. :P Now as for my pick of the most annoying, I would give it too Screaming Mantis in MGS4. I didn't know to use the syringe to neutralize my nanomachines to break her nanomachine mindcontrol over me. As for the hardest, I would definately have to give it to Sephiroth & Grim Reaper fella on Kingdom Hearts 1. Sephiroth still kicks my arse to this day, as does the Grim Reaper wanna be on the Peter Pan level of KH. |

Oh, there are some others. The final boss of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is ridiculous, and nearly impossible to damage as Knuckles if you play with the S&K cartridge attached; you literally have to get between two or three frames of the boss's animation to hit him the right way.
And from Megaman X2, Manga Centipede is a total douche the first time around. He's not so bad once you find his weakness, but he's a pain in the ass before that. His stage is kinda BS in general too. There's a midboss that gets stronger depending on how long you here in a certain room; if you spend too long in there he becomes literally unstoppable. The final Sigma boss is kinda dumb too. You have to get a secret weapon to stand much of a chance against his first form, and his second form has a hitbox the size of an ant or something, and it's only present for a fraction of time in a specific animation for his sprite. |
Emerald - FFVII. Fook you dude, seriously.
Ruby - FVII Raam - GoW1 Insane. |
Not exactly annoying per se, but I think that the Great Mighty Poo from Conker's Bad Fur Day is disgusting by nature:
http://images.wikia.com/rare/images/...rkJackal28.jpg The song is hilarious. |
Galactus at the end of Marvel vs Capcom 3 on very hard. So far hes been quite a hassle for me.
The hulk doesn't really count but when I have to face him on hard or very hard he continuously spams the same attack over and over. This is the game I'm currently playing so I cant really think of any other really challenging bosses. Bosses generally aren't that tough, all you have to do is find the right groove and rinse-wash-repeat. |

btw, Wesker, I just wanna say that is the greatest looking signature/video what'chamacallit that I've seen on this forum. Wesker is GOD!!

:) lol thanks.

For me, the most annoying boss would be the Supreme Hunter in Prototype..He takes chunks out of you with his devastator attacks and there are only so many missiles to throw at him. I did the rest of the game easily but I got annoyed at this point (the last boss in the game)

this is gonna sound werid but..... DEMYX from kingdom hearts 2......
|
I can't remember which one that was. Is he the one with the guitar, or is he the final one with like 16 health boxes?
From KH2, the hardest bosses were Xaoldin(the one who looks like Wolverine from X-men) and the Sniper dude inside the fortress. |
|
Metroid Prime 1 and 3 were easy for me, very easy. But the Emperor Ing at the end of MP2 I could NEVER GET PAST! :shoop:
|

The Emperor Ing wasn't too hard but Dark Samus was, you had to beat her a few times to finish the final battle.
|
Yeah, the Saren fight at the end of ME was hard, but I found the best class to fight him is sentinel. lift, throw, heavy pistol, repeat. Lift keeps him still long enough to hit him with a throw, which gets him far away from you and deals a fair amount of damage, then stay back and use heavy pistol until he's/it's too close then lift/throw again.

Jin'do the Godbreaker... The fight its self isn't overly difficult. But, finding a good group that can handle with fight is hard. Final boss in Zul'Gurub (85 Heroic Dungeon added with 4.1) |

Mass Effect is my favorite game, I can't wait for March 6 next year. Mass Effect 3 is going to be the best game of all time. I've already got the Collector's Edition pre-ordered. Back on topic, I think my most annoying boss would have to be Skorge from Gears of War 2. After the incredible battle with RAAM from Gears 1, this was a huge disappointment for me. I mean you just pressed a button to chainsaw duel him and that was it! So lame!! I hope in Gears 3 the final boss is the Queen and it is like the RAAM fight from the first game. |

I always found Sovereign easy, even on Insanity... I guess you didn't have any party members with Lift and Throw? :)
I always brought Liara, and my main Shepard had lift as her bonus skill, made it almost disappointingly easy. |
