Wow, been a while since I checked out this thread. The colors are really nice but I think the pattern of stripes on her legs isn't dense enough.

Yeah the patterns of dots i made is based on what i could find from reference pictures back some time ago. Now with more reference and even detailed sculptures i could improve stuff on this model alot but well, then there's no end :P

anyway, i made another render, as a small support for the VFX people and their action, see the youtube below if your interested.

Been rather busy with it but here is a big an update on the figure i'm working on. This time i 3D printed her myself using the Form 1+ printer (i used Shapeways earlier). Took me about 5 versions to get things as good as i can get them and this one should be it. She's almost done and off for paint soon. For hair i plan to use braided string, will show more when she's painted :)

Thanks! Yeah i actually started here and posting my progress here really helped moving forward. Learned so much in the process aswell. Also while i'm doing different projects now i keep coming back to this. Its just fun todo although i got a bit carried away with fan pose requests on deviant but well its all fun anyway :)

That animation looks great! You create truly great work and I've enjoyed seeing your progress as you get better and better with all that you do. You have a lot of talent; you can draw you create 3D stills and CGI animation and you can create 3D printed figures. I can't even draw! :xD:

I check out your DeviantArt page every other month and I look in on what you're doing on your YouTube channel when new content is uploaded. I've typed your name so much that my tablet automatically predicts Fierox anytime I type "Fi" anywhere. You are one of a few 3D animators I have been watching with AVATAR projects.

Yeah i really enjoy making these animations, even more then with still images i can really try and put some life and emotion in a character. Sure is difficult tho, pfff.

Nice work! I've tried to do animation before so I know it isn't easy and sometimes it can be very frustrating. While I may have abandoned my own aspirations to do animation I really enjoy seeing others who stick with it and get better at what they do. :)

great work, Fierox, as always. it would be great if you could do a fan-edition rendering of the Avatar CE deleted scenes someday, since it appears they will never do anything with the deleted scenes. great scenes like the HuntFestival and others. at this point, any further rendered-version of these scenes would be great. i like the short scene where Neytiri is riding a pa'li.

Yeah i completely agree, that would be so much fun to do and it would really add to what we have now. But it really has to be a team effort, its just too big for a solo project. My own little animation stuff is already too big.

But getting a team for a project like this is hard, very hard. I'v tried several times. In the end i just waisted time, lost 3D models to other people and on top of it someone stole one of my 3D printed Neytiri figures. So it got me cautious and a little bitter... :(

Would still like a good teamproject tho, if everything feels right

One day I might be interested! I'm a 3D modeler by profession though I specialize more in props/environment art than character art. That said, would definitely be interesting to collaborate some day :)

Cool! And great you made it your profession, havent really been able to do that myself unfortunately. Also, good to know because i hate doing props/environment, thats why i am struggling right now :D So who knows? Characters and animating them is what i like most. Still have plenty to learn but time stops when i do that :)

Yep. :) No reply from her though,but at least it helps showing a fellow fan's work to her for her to see. From what I saw, she likes the fan art people have made of her or the characters she's played in films.

Thanks! I use Maya for most modeling, rigging and animating. Oh and also for the rendering part. Still alot to learn but that what this project is for anyway :)
