($2,700) Na'vi 3D Model for Sale
So.. so cute
http://www.hostilesyndicate.com/foru...faa5cLarge.jpg Very interesting too.. Link to sale |
looks good but what are you meant to use it for? and would you seriously pay that much for a computer model? -_- i wouldn't
|
I like it.
Apart from a few things: The Queue ends too abruptly Tail is a tiny bit too short Queue is too thin Doesn't seem nine feet tall(looks closer to 7'6") Tail looks too bumpy in first pose Tail is missing hair tuft And her eyes are too small. |

Ok, I clicked the link to the site and the bump on her hands isn't on her hands. It's on her wrists.
So if I end up buying a 3D model for $2700, it would be Neytiri as designed by James Cameron and WETA Digital. |

still it looks great but ~3k $ uhm |
A bit expensive... :(
|
Looks like a woman statue with stripes painted on. Doesn't look Na'vi at all. The body isn't even elongated.
|
yeah this model could use some more work, few more details.
For short vid click here ( Animation seems done good even her eyes reacts to light ) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13146461/Ne'va_bow3200.jpg |
Fun stuff. I do agree that the model seems to have a very human "frame," and the missing tuft on the tail--yeah, what a strange omission!
The idea of openly selling something like this is interesting. Who will buy? The target market is obviously avatar fandom, as you're not going to use such a model in a for-pay production (unless you want to get sued!). That said, regardless of who buys, there has to be a line drawn somewhere when it comes to profiting from a movie without the endorsement of its owners. $2700 ain't pocket change. ...and if you're selling to fans, then certainly the model ought to be of a character from the actual movie! It is cool work, nonetheless. :D |
Wow nice work! Model looks good and cute even! Very nice facial animation.
Looks like a greatly build model, very detailed and a impressive rig but like mentioned above its really a idealised human body. Dont get it why someone so skilled would look over that. My guess is he already had a female body for sale and just altered that. If its about selling it that would be fastest way. I guess perhaps some chinese firm might be interrested they dont seem to hard on copyright over there :P |
Still doesn't make sense, though. How hard is it to elongate the body? That's pretty much the only thing, except maybe the tail tuft.
|
I think it missed the mark by a long long way. So many details are just off. Most of them have already been mentioned but the one that gets me is the human shape. I don't know who would pay that much for this...now if you were getting the actual WETA 3D Models, I would gladly pay that much... :)
|
I watched the video demonstration of it, and wow does it look real. I mean it looks like several thousand dollars of work, but I mean come on, no one would pay that much for private use of this.

EDIT: This is pretty funny: http://files.turbosquid.com/Preview/...f28caLarge.jpg |
Eh.
It's good, but it's not $2700-good. Know what I mean? |
I know what you mean... but the analogy is off. I mean, the model itself, you have to admit, is worth that amount. The model to a fan is worth a lot less than what a true Na'vi model would be because it's obvious what was missed. No true fan would want this for accuracy.

Yeah, charging 3k for a reskin + tail is a little presumptuous imo. |
How could they possibly forget the tail tuft? I mean, first Slideshow, then this? What's up with that?
|
Yeah i have no idea either and that makes me sad :( because i want Neytiri statuette with all navi features especially tail tuft,
and indeed he have in his offers normal human model for less then 1k $. |
Slideshow Neytiri statuette has a tail tuft. :D
