Farewell/goodebye section.

With the number of people that leave this forum, I think there should be a farewell section just as there is a welcome section so as not to fill up the community support section. Just my opinion.

P.S. unless you have something positive to input about it then please refrain from insulting my ideas as has been done on AF. :)

Devourment 02-28-2011 10:09 PM

A farewell section makes it sort of seem like the site is not against people leaving, which of course is the opposite of what they would want, so even if there was a majority of people wanting this on the site, I doubt it would ever make it into being.

This site is about community more than anything else, and having a section based upon people leaving is sort of a downer.

I think it is a good idea in theory, but practically it would almost invite people to leave...I think if someone wants to say goodbye they could post it in the community support section. Good idea though. :)

As Devourment says, we don't want to engender leaving by having a Farewell subforum. We want people to stay here forever and ever.

As tidy as it would be, I think its worth a little mess so people don't see a place where they can easily set this place aside.

That's what I was thinking myself.

Whoot! naturally everyone disagrees!

Layzie 03-01-2011 01:06 AM

Yeah at this point it would make sense. I noticed a lot of people annoucing that they are leaving lately.

txen 03-01-2011 03:58 AM

Leaving. I just don't get it. Sure I've been too busy to post for some pretty long stretches, but I guess I don't see the motivation for cutting this place off. I can't say that I have ever really understood why from most of the farewell threads.

Icu 03-01-2011 06:31 AM

We don't need a goodbye section. It would just draw attention to itself and would make the "issue" of people leaving look worse than it is.

Eltu 03-01-2011 07:42 AM

As already stated by other members, having a "goodbye" section would probably not be a very good idea.

So for now, it's a no.

Nobody leaves this place... O_O

I also agree - having a specific subforum not only makes people more likely to, but it concentrates all the threads into one very visible location.

TxonTirea 03-02-2011 05:40 PM

Yup, hell no.

Woodsprite 03-02-2011 08:22 PM

Like any political system, this is like forum politics. You never, ever want to give something a negative connotation, like "anti-" something, or especially "good-bye". In politics you had the "Department of War". Too negative. Change it to the "Department of Defense". Don't call it "anti-abortion", call it "pro-life". Don't call it "giving up", call it "resigning". Don't call it the "farewell/goodbye section"...

...call it the "Gone Away/Returning" thread/section.

Think about it.

The Man in Black 03-02-2011 08:37 PM

Or, we could create an entire forum section called "The Drama Llama" in which we could quarantine all drama-type shenanigans into one area.

Jk, I like Woodsprite's idea.
