What do you like about being "Human"?

I've been keeping my mind off the Na'vi culture and focused on the possitive things of humanity. One thing I like about being human is that we can learn many different things and choose the best of it.

For example, we Humanity had a diversity of religons ands they give values of being a living creature in this world. In these times we can study each one and adapt them into our beliefs to better ourselves in the world. These last couple of days I have been listing to music such as:

These songs apeal to emotion and that is the biggest thing that makes us human.

I will express more feelings later on.

Future posters, please try to not add negative comments and please don't make any remarks on how the Na'vi are better because this is about humans. But you can add Comments on what humans and Na'vi have in common. Please and thank you!

This might seem rather hypocritical being a Vulcan and all but here goes. Some of these may or may not be exclusive to humans.

1. Sense of humour

2. Being able to feel excitement for what the future holds

3. Affection/intimacy

4. Compassion

5. Mateship

6. Aspirations to improve human standards of living worldwide.

And heaps more. :)

we:
-are a curious race, always wanting to explore the many mysteries that are out there
-are amazing artists and have created great things such as drawings, music, films

Technological progress and parts of human culture.

One of the things I like is how the males don't have annoying facial hair that we have to shave off every few days.

Oh, wait......

Half-Vulcan... you're entitled.

A lot of what was mentioned above. I got many things coming out of me right now that shout out as being human.

Many of these may seem obvious and not exactly and ability, or special thing about us, but it's what makes us who we are.

Hope: In the darkest times we can still see light and find a way to pull ourselves up to the surface.

Courage: When all else seems lost we will still go on/fight/struggle for what we find worth in, whether it be freedom, land, life, or happiness. Many of use would die to protect out loved ones. And that is courage.

Ambition: We will strive for what we want, we have drive in us that will push us to accel.

Love: (This was mentioned above but it deserves it again). Our family, friends, and mate we can hold extraordinary feelings for. When we see them, our thoughts, feelings, and state of being can change in a second. This feeling, has been the very core of out being for thousands of years, it's what keeps us going, wars are fought over it, people die over it and a person can change because of it.

I don't know what to call this so I'll just describe it. When we see something, like a piece of art, listen to a piece of music, or witness an event, it gives us feelings that inspire us, change us, and alter our being. Such as the music OP posted, I listen to music like that and I get goosebumps, my breathing and heartrate slows. What causes this? It touches the very fiber of us and I think it is in every human on the planet, some just have it suppressed through their own choices or through what their life has given them and when I feel those moments, when I listen to that music, see Avatar. I feel different in so many ways and I think that is part of being human.

Really, not that much.
A lot of the things people mention (e.g. FoW's above) are not unique to humans. You can't state one quality that applies to everyone, because there will always be people it doesn't. Some people have no interest beyond themselves while some people genuinely care about others. Some people are excited and interested about the universe,, while other people take what they are told without questioning and never seek to understand things.

There are people I care about a lot, such as the people here, but when it comes to humanity in general, I really couldn't care less and you could probably call me a misanthrope. I'm perhaps a little idealistic on that I think things could change, but I also sometimes doubt they will.

When it comes to humans specifically, human limitations annoy me, and honestly, the Na'vi are physically better in every conceivable way.

I personally like the parts of us that make us animals. Our primal urges. I wanna do that chick, I wanna kick the crap outta that guy and everyone will see who's the alpha here, I wanna run as fast as I can.

But we never go with these urges most of the time.

Humans have pretty big imaginations! Without our imaginations, we would never have been able to have this conversation, and I mean that in more ways than one.

That's because they're not real.

EDIT: And I don't see them building spaceships. Brute strength only gets you so far in this universe.

first off, those songs are great!...although I still prefer Two Steps From Hell over Audiomachine...That is my favorite genre of music "Symphonic Orchestral Choral Epic Music" yay

And the thing I love most about being human is being "aware" hard to explain...

Human cultural studies has always been an interesting topic to me. In particular I like studying not just customs but viewpoints. I always want to try and understand how someone else perceives the world even if I don't necessarily agree with their viewpoint. We spend so much time within our own cultures and ways that we truly lose sight of whats out there sometimes. What I truly like about humanity is our capacity to have experiences.

So? This is the What do you like about being Human, thread. It dosn't limit us to post unique things humans have, just things we love about them.

You're just being negative here, kind of trolling, if you don't have anything favorable to say about humans in a thread where we are saying what we love about us, then don't post.
