Quit yer bitchin' teachers, State Reps have it tougher.

Sort of.

"I struggle to meet my bills right now... The benefits that were offered to me as a congressman don't even compare to the benefits that you get as a state employee. I just experienced that myself. They're not nearly as good."

-- Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI), quoted by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, defending his congressional salary and benefits to a constituent who responded, "But $174,000 -- that's ... three times what I make."

That poor guy only $174,000 a year... Ok here is the thing, I'm going to guess he has $40,000 in student loans. His six kids go to a private school I'm guessing which would be $90,000 a year. Plus the mortgage which I have no idea what it would be, and trying to save money for his kids college education. It can actually be hard... However he does have SIX kids (I mean WTF do you really need that many?) and private school isn't necessary (remember I'm just guessing about the private school). This guy could have avoid this by wearing a condom and supporting the public schools that he (I'm assuming) is degrading with budget cuts. So yah that sucks for him. It's easy to say the wealthy shouldn't feel sorry for themselves, but they screw themselves over and it sucks when you do that.

(It should be noted that my family is kind of well off. I wouldn't call ourselves millionaires, but I'd say that my family knows how to not overspend money. We don't have ridiculous amounts of children, we don't build oversized houses that we can't really afford. We live lives of sufficient luxury, not over luxury).

The issue is not the tough economy, its that he's bitching about it while people who face the SAME problems make 1/3 of his salary. And he wants to CUT their salaries.

My cousin showed me a thing on Fox news once, where someone said "250,000 a year? That's near poverty if you have kids in college!"

What a bitch.

i'll try to find the video

It's almost scary how much these people lack common sense.

This kind of thing really gets to me. Do they not realize how bad people have it? My gross annual income is slightly above $20,000 US. I make it because I don't live beyond my means. I also grew up in a single income family of 6 children with an annual income not even close to what this guy is making. We still lived comfortably because my parents aren't stupid with their budget. Seriously, be smart with your money. Take a look at the poverty around you and stop complaining(not directed at anyone on the forum).

At first I was like "that post looks familiar..." Anyhow it really is annoying when the rich cut the budget of the poor. I know Texas schools are about to go to ****. Apparently there was a huge federal aid package going to Texas schools, but our governor didn't like that the money had some restrictions on how it could be spent so he didn't accept it. Whatever happened to not looking a gift horse in the mouth? Christ it pisses me off.

Ok I looked into it and Texas would have to adopt a federal curriculum to get the $700 million. Only Texas and Alaska decided not to accept the money.
