What color would your ikran be?
 

I'd like to imagine if I were a na'vi, what color and gender my ikran would be. And what its name was. If I could choose, my ikran would be orange, yellow and red with stripe patterns much like toruk. His name would be "pxen" which means "fire" in na'vi.:airquote: Something like this:

Lets see, mine would be a deep blue with spots of green/turquoise and a red tail...

I'd like my Ikran to be coloured in a sea blue with dark green stripes. The tail also would be a colour resulted from the sea blue and dark green faded to the back. :)

I'd like my Ikran to be a rusty red colour and to be a female. I spotted a rusty red coloured Ikran when Jake went past most of them to face his Ikran. ;)

Maybe in another pattern, but definitely orange and black (my fav color mix <3) As for name... I have no idea :/ ..... something with 'death' (from above!!!) perhaps...

I would want my Ikran to have the exact same coloring as Seze. It would be a monument to her.

Because as much as I love the Na'vi and all that, green is still my favorite color :)

This is a fun question. This makes me want to watch the Iknimaya scene and see what colors they show.

Anyway, I'd like green. Maybe a mix of green, black, and bits of purple...

If only the Avatar game was like oblivion and you could name you own Ikran and pick out a colour. :P

This is a hard question.. i really like Tsu'tey's ikran.. and Neytiri's so maybe a mix of those two :P

Mostly blue, with some green and maybe a little bit of reddish on the edge of the wings :)

Mine would be mostly black, with flecks of bright red, orange and yellow, and her name would be "Jaden". She'd be a real beauty.

Well, if Ikran are anything like Earth reptiles, then different populations of them would have different colors depending on where they lived, a la population genetics.

For example, a red or orange Ikran is possible, if they lived near red or orange rock formations, because then they could blend in better than others, and avoid predation. This would then skew the entire population towards the red/orange colors, since predators would eat anything that stuck out from the crowd.

But, for myself, I would look for unusual color morphs. Color morphs are when an animal has genetics that alter its normal pigmentation, and cause it to look different. This happens to be especially common in reptiles; I have an albino leopard gecko and an albino corn snake. These are very rare in the wild, but artificial selection has allowed us to draw them out through breeding.

So, if there was a color morph for an Ikran, it would be possible that the darker colors were switched with the light colors, as sort of an inverse albino.

I would want mine to look like that; an all-black Ikran with light turquoise stripes, and perhaps a yellow chin crest instead of red.

Morphs is only what we call it in reptiles, all the different colors we see in dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, rats etc. - all are "morphs" we have created, that would probably have gotten the animal killed off in the wild.

And it is one thing that's always been one of the greatest mysteries in Avatar for me... JC has gone so far to explain everything, and make everything plausible, but I don't know of a single species in the world where color varies greatly among individuals, in the wild. Wild horses don't count, they are only domesticated horses that have gone wild again.

I mean, wherever you look, animals of the same species/subspecies in the same location, have all the same color. (Except perhaps differences between male/female.)
So why/how do the Ikran sport all these strange colors? Green, blue, orange, purple... take a close look at the background Ikrans during both the "taming" scene and when the Ikran clan ride out, and you see a lot of different colors.

And again, I have never seen a wild, undomesticated species with such great variation in colors. Animals use to have colors that serve a purpose like camouflage, or for sexual selection. So one species/subspecies use to have only one color.

Mine would be the same colours as the ToS background (excellent for hunting cos he'll merge with the forest). When I'll see a ToS colour ikran, he'll definitely choose me, too :)

But if I had a choice, I'd pick white or a purple-ish color.

I believe it would be whichever colour it was born as (assuming they aren't born a different colour to what they are at adulthood, although I think mostly furred/scaled animals would do that), but if I had to choose.. either an adaptive pattern (eg. chameleon) or dark grey/black with some kind of bioluminescent stripe pattern.

I'd be attracted to choosing a largely black or deep blue ikran with teal, aqua, (and turquoise) veining like you see in natural turquoises. And if she chose me, I think I would name her Txonä Txampay (Ocean of Night).

If I got a black one, I'd name it "Tanhiruk" (Starshadow) because if I flew at night, it would appear that I was merely an absence of stars from below.

And my intended targets would see just that; a "Star Shadow", before being stricken down. >:)

There's not really much total darkness on Pandora, but a dark ikran would still look great at night, especially with the very slight bioluminescence :)

I don't really mind what colour my ikran is but I would like it to be equipped with two heavy machine guns, one on each side of its body. If it could also be called Sedrick, and have a kamikaze dive button, that would please me greatly.
