Are we missing some scenes?

There are some scenes which were never shown in CE edition or in deleted scenes. So were are they???
Here is what I mean: 1:12-1:13/2:22

Also this: 1:02/3:44

Mr. Cameron we need some explanation here (unless some of you know where those scenes are gone) :P

I know two more scenes/tiny parts, one where we see Grace all alone in some lab, raising her head while still looking at something up ahead, and the other is when Quaritch spots the link station in the jungle. The part when he cuts those vines off is nowhere to find either. :S I've seen both of them (and perhaps even more) in numerous trailers. All very mysterious to me.

Neither in the deleted scenes. And that is the problem. :/

An annoying problem...

You never know what the threshold is for something being considered a "scene." "Scene" and "shot" mean different things. A two-second shot of Jake waking up in a link bed would be pretty awkward if pitched as a "deleted scene" on the Blu-ray; you'd blink and--oops! You missed it! :D There are likely quite a few edges of scenes and short shots that just don't make sense by themselves. Maybe they could create a montage of these or something, but it would be weird. Like, I'm sure there are probably more than a few shots of various Sec Ops firing weapons and such that didn't make it into the movie. Would they really have a deleted scene called "Random Guy Shoots Gun" ? :xD: Probably not.

There's also a Thanator/AMP suit fight bit that I've only seen in supplementary stuff. Can't remember where I saw it though..

Then why not include them if they're only a second pr two? :S

There was a drive to make the film leaner so that audiences wouldn't get fatigued. It's mentioned on pg 264 of the Making of Avatar book. Interestingly, this page also mentions that the scene with Grace holding up her hand and counting the digits in front of her Na'vi pupils was shown at special select preview screenings. Now, I suppose it could be the case that they only showed the pre-vis. But I half suspect that some of the deleted scenes were actually fully rendered by Weta and the reason they are not included on the blu-ray is to prevent people making fan-edits.

I think they film a few extra teasers specifically for the trailers, to increase demand for when the movie comes out. Also like how sometimes they might combine two scenes in a trailer that are separated by about 30 minutes of film.

I think that these featurettes were made before JC had made the final cut for the theatrical release, which is why they include some shots that ended up being trimmed out.
