Claymore (Anime Series)

Skeptic of Anime in general proven wrong, and I'm glad for it. TV-MA

A show, evolving from comic-book to animation, that has proven to me that not all anime is black-and-white (ex. good vs. evil).

Claymore takes place in a world known as Rabona, where two types of sentient-beings roam: Humans and Yoma (You-ma), who eat the insides of humans. Yoma are above humans on the food chain, and they are superior in strength, size, and intelligence. The humans stand no chance against these beings, so an 'Organization' was created to deal with this threat. It's primary goal: Eradicate all Yoma threatening the human population of Rabona, and in some cases, at all costs. This organization is only known as 'The Organization'.

The story revolves around an agent of The Organization known as Clare, or Rank 47, who goes from town to town killing any Yoma who hide amongst the people. Clare is a new kind of human, created from The Organization, that can use the powers of the Yoma, and can detect them. Humans do not have that ability. She is known as a 'Claymore', or a 'Silver-eyed Witch' amongst the world's people. Clare has a soldier's mind, and a soldier's life. Everything begins after Clare arrives in a town that has a Yoma hidden amongst it's people. She saves the life of a boy by accident as she discovers and dispatches the Yoma. This boy, Raki, follows Clare through her journey through the land out of sheer reluctance at first. As time goes along, you begin to understand what a Claymore's duty is, their burden, and the feats that they can accomplish. They are the best swordsmen in the land, and have unreal power. Although it feels realistic some how, which is unusual for an anime.

As you continue, you will begin to see what make's Clare the main character of the show, and the plot is superb. I was sucked in at episode 2. The first episode was awesome and I was curious if the second was just as amazing. This is a dark show. Decapitations, blood, guts, language, all bets are off. Plus, the show is very unforgiving. For as sick as my humor, it hit a level where I couldn't laugh.

Professional music with a professional plot. If you watch it, I recommend getting all the shows. The director loves giving character development to you so one or two episodes at a time won't suffice.

Personal inquiry:
This show has the substance of a great Final Fantasy story, elements from Hitman (the organization, agent 47), and elements from Final Fantasy 13 (the relationship between Hope and Lightning). This show hit close to home for me; many scenarios I could relate to. When it was all over, I thought this was a movie. A clear sign that this is a great show. I recommend a viewing if you have nothing to do all day.

This is Netflix's description w/ episode names:

I feel the need to tell you more about this show, but talking about it would ruin it. Their are traces of stereotypical anime; slow motion, talking in dialogue while flying through the air, flurried backgrounds when others run (on rare occasion), and one guy cries too damn much. Thats about all I can tell you.
