Avatar: The Game has one big fail?

For anyone who has played the game, hasn't anyone noticed that Jake is not around, which is a big fail if you ask me, because Grace and Quaritch are mentioned in the game, (though not seen) and as for Jake every lead ends dead.

Anyone has an idea on how to get him in it, or is it done with intention??

P.S: I don't know if there was a post about this, and I looked for it, but couldn't find it.

tm20 06-08-2011 01:25 PM

the game is set before Jake comes so he isn't meant to be in it.

JakeMiles 06-08-2011 02:08 PM

Ahh, so that's why... Thanks.
I hope Avatar 2: The game comes out in 2015, since the next movie is coming out 2014.

Loverofnature 06-08-2011 02:14 PM

it's because some genius's decided it would be better to rush the game and release it before the movie

Both theories sound pretty good, but I think I go with Lovers' one, because what she said is actually true, the movie is of 2010, while the game says it has been created in 2009..

It doesn't make any sense, mad, that is..

Human No More 06-10-2011 07:01 PM

It's set before Jake's arrival, and isn't canon anyway (huge mistakes everywhere and a completely different plot).

JakeMiles 06-10-2011 08:06 PM

Another great action of Ubisoft, HAIL UBISOFT FOR IT'S IMCOMPETENCE (at some games, like this one) They will just hide behind the big wall which says: It's been set before he arrives...

Xiraxis 06-10-2011 08:21 PM

I thing, that this game is "cooploting" to film wthout linear sequence... else we seen on film any aftermath at this game, similiarly as in Tron Legacy... Story of able rider in view of film never happen...

therewithal i must agree with Human no more... plot is full of holes as colander and script in itself is very bad...

p.s. Sorry for my horrible english

Moco Loco 06-10-2011 10:24 PM

My biggest beef with it, the one that is most bothersome to me, is that there's no tsaheylu bond with the horse :/ The horse antennas just kind of stick out awkwardly and are not connected to anything.

Aketuan 06-10-2011 10:44 PM

I have the iphone game...but I don't think it is the same as the real game...nothing can compare to the actual movie so any game would just be a let down.

Moco Loco 06-10-2011 10:58 PM

I'd love a good game for Avatar, but I'd have very high standards for it. For starters, everything needs to make sense (and riding a horse without a bond going on does not)

ahoragi 06-11-2011 01:56 AM

I have no problems with the game. Some aspects of the game do not match the movie but it's alright, no big deal. The main reason I play it is to explore Pandora. The game is great in 2D but once you try it in 3D you will never stop playing. I recently got a big 3D tv and been playin the game in 3D mode, single player or multi, and it's stunning! I played a few 3D games and watched a few 3D movies and Avatar the Game is probably the best use of 3D I've seen. The depth and realism is crazy. All those little things that annoyed you before are suddenly gone because you are so immersed into the environment. I just love it.

Pa'li Makto 06-11-2011 04:54 AM

Ubisoft are pretty good developers. I know that they would of made a better result if they had more time to get it done, just to fix up some of the details..Overall though I really hope if another Avatar game gets made that it is improved drastically.

JakeMiles 06-11-2011 11:23 AM

I agree with all,
BUT.
I've found another great major fail.
If you decide to stay with RDA, and try to kill Harper, You still have the objective: Grab the harmonic.
Third one: Kill Tan Jala.
Fine, did that, and finished the objective.
LATER ON IN THE GAME
You go to the Dorment well of souls, stuff like that.
You wake it up, Falco dies, bla bla..
AND THEN: You walk back, and Tan Jala comes flying in..

One word: WTF.

tm20 06-11-2011 12:02 PM

he got brought back to life? :D that was the biggest mistake i saw in the game, pretty poor job in terms of consistency.

Human No More 06-12-2011 02:56 AM

Well, nobody should be doing that anyway, to be honest.

As for the development, the game was developed too early as well as being rushed, obviously quality was going to be reduced from that.

JakeMiles 06-12-2011 01:41 PM

Lol, completely agreed there.

Yeap, I have noticed that too. LARGE mistake.
But anyway, I love Avatar the Game :):):)

mikkowilson 06-12-2011 05:57 PM

There's a game?

- Mikko ... yora' tsau uvanit

James of terra 06-12-2011 06:05 PM

LOL, Mikko, yes there is.........as for the game, and being the only avatar game for pc, I played it, and yes it was rushed, but it gives me my panadora fix!

Ubisoft were not given the proper time to develop a game. They are undoubtably one of the greatest game developers on the planet, producing both the Assassins Creed franchise and Tom Clancy's games. (<--- the king of... Well... Everything.) The games failings fall squarely on JC and Fox.

Moco Loco 06-13-2011 03:59 AM

Kind of like the Papyrus font-- "oh, it'll work itself out/ be taken care of/ etc.":xD:

Tom Clancy: Splinter Cell (first two) were awesome games! HOW DARE YOU

Advent 06-13-2011 09:49 AM

It was pretty good IMO in terms of gameplay, but the plot could have been planned out far better. Add that with a very short time to release it, and before the movie itself was even released, the end result was rather unsatisfactory.

tm20 06-13-2011 12:46 PM

im surprised no one has made mods for the PC version. if there is im getting the PC version as soon as i find out what mods are available (only if i knew how to create mods for games :() *BTW shouldn't this be in the video games section?

fierox 06-13-2011 01:47 PM

Yeah the game was terribly rushed. Also they wanted too much, felt like halfway in production they started rushing it (perhaps the deadline was changed).
Some bad decisions were made imo to make things like the mini game, multiplayer etc. If time was so short they should have focused all resources on the main part, the singleplayer.
Biggest flaw of the game imo was the lack of emotion and dept of story and characters.
A shame since parts of the game are great, i never get why things are released like that. Guess its all about money instead of love for what youre creating.

As for mods, most developers keep everything locked down. I think that is also the case here. The mod community then need to recreate tools and everything again if they want to create a mod for it.
One reason im a big fan of Epic (unreal engine) is that they deliver everything one needs to start modding. Tools and even complete manuals and tutorials.

JakeMiles 06-13-2011 03:41 PM

Alright, due to my.. unliked.. post of Ubisoft failing.
I do know they rock, and to be honest, I own 20 other games developed by them.
Only sometimes things go wrong..

And I'm very sorry NatureLover, lol :xD:

Fosus 06-14-2011 03:38 PM

****, I just lost THE GAME.

I've never played the Avatar game. And don't intend to, unless I somehow get a 3D screen.

ahoragi 06-14-2011 04:24 PM

Lost it? How?

It doesn't end. As soon as anyone thinks of it, they are playing. If you are referring to that get with 'if this post ends in n then the game ends', that's like saying 'if this post ends in n then 3 == 7' - it doesn't make it true.

tm20 06-15-2011 01:13 AM

any of you play online on PS3?

JakeMiles 06-18-2011 11:37 AM

I do play online on PS3, but that's offtopic Tm20.

Well, I've... taken... some glasses from the movie, and the original red, blue one.
They cannot differ more from eachother.
But nevertheless neither of them work for 3-D in The Game.
I've got absolutely lost in all of the options you've gotta do, anyone help? :xD:

ahoragi 06-18-2011 12:38 PM

You got a 3D tv right? I don't know if those glasses with work. I used the realD glasses from the theater and they didn't work. I have active shutter glasses from panasonic and a panasonic 3D tv. This combo allows me to play it in 3D.

If you are desperate, set the 3D so there are two pictures side by side. Do the "cross-eye" trick to view it in 3D without any glasses or special 3D tv. It works and looks great but then sooner or later your eyes start to burn lol.

http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/v...licoradian.gif

If you aren't sure how it works, cross your eyes while looking at this picture. When you see three pictures, focus on the middle one till your eyes "lock" onto it. Once your eyes are locked to the middle image, it will be 3D.
