Stop Mercury Pollution
 

Well here is another little update for everyone. The Sierra club and the EPA have been working together on an anti-mercury campaign for the last few months. I only got involved with this initiative in the last month, and and it was almost over so I did not bother posting. Thing is we got a weeks extension. Also we are WAY below our goal.

This is the site link click the "Take Action" button and you will be directed to the online petition. It asks for basic information. Please share this with as many friends and family members as possible. We only have one more week to meet our goal of 500,000 "signatures".

Mercury is nasty stuff. Hair tests may be too expensive for poor people who are unknowingly exposed.

Mercury poisoning is very nasty, though it is used in long life, energy-saving compact lamps (which I suppose, a lot of people just throw them to the garbage can and is a significant source of pollution).

So, was the goal met?

CFLs are a stop gap in my opinion until cleaner efficient technologies, like LED (better, still far from perfect) become main stream.
