Never once do you see Neytiri eating.
Ever. It's just... not there! I just started thinking about it and thought, "What would it look like when she eats?" I mean, we all saw her drink that bit of rainwater from the leaf, but that was it.
This may not seem like a topic that can really go far, as far as discussions go, but I just wanted to put that out there. Perhaps we'll see her eat in the deleted dance scene? Or elsewhere? Maybe in the sequel... I dunno. I just thought this an interesting fact. |
What would it look like when she eats?
Probably an attractive blue woman eating. |
Well, you don't really see them do alot of things,
I can only assume that Neytiri goes off screen & gets some grub when she brings Jake into the camp bit & he tells them not to get up. Seeing them just sitting around having a snack might be a bit too much of a filler & would probably be edited out on a film this long, theres alot that's just left to your imagination - which I kinda like. |

1. Neytiri is not attractive, she is a goddess. 2. Neytiri is not blue, blue is Neytiri. 3. She would not be eating, she would be crushing our hearts. |
Well, neither do we see Jake eating in his Avatar, nor any of the Na’vi for that matter. There was one scene in the original script that was cut from the theatrical release that had the Na’vi eating communally near the cooking fires. That was right after the scene where Neytiri brings Jake higher up in Hometree for the first time dressed in native clothes. There was also the infamous drinking scene (also cut) when the Na’vi had the gathering to celebrate a very successful sturmbeest hunt. That might also show Na’vi eating. I really hope those are eventually added back into an extended theatrical release. I would unhesitatingly go right back to the cinema just to see that!

Frankly its the same reason you never see Chuck norris eat. It would simply be too awesome for this world to witness....

Win. Just pure win.

Rememeber that part when Jake runs out of the lab in his avatar for the first time, then Grace tosses him that fruit and he takes a big bite? I think she'd look like that, but more dainty and lady-like.

Probably more gentle too. *In slow mo* |

But in all honesty, she'd probably be squatting when eating like the rest of the Na'vi :P I am gonna get some hate for this :S |
you see a few of the Na'vi eating in the scene around the fire after Jake is wearing Na'vi clothes for the first time. Also, there is an extended version of that scene that I saw in the script that I hope will be on the special edition DVD. I'm sure she eats like anyone else would, it might not be ladylike either :) lol.

I think that if eating were any more prominent in the film, it would cause people to notice this food-hiding-mouth pattern. (Well, I noticed it the second time, when Jake bit the fruit) JC didn't want to take any attention away from the story, so he kept the technical handicap at bay with sparse mealtime footage. Besides, eating is not a pretty action, even when beautiful people are doing it. To wit: http://cityrag.blogs.com/photos/unca...ies_eating.jpg |
that is the second funniest picture i have seen in the past 10 minutes.
|
I didn't really recognize half the people in that pic. :shy: But you're right, it was probably just too much work on the renderers' part.

why does clooney seem like he's trying to eat that dog snake style?
funny tho. |
Eating is for mortals. When someone is that awesome, showing them eating is a waste of their time.
|
^LOL!!! Our brains would have exploded with more footage of Neytiri :D
|
lol seamus - thx for the picture of george ;)

I second(or third) the cgi rendering explaination. Tearing and Semi-Malleable taught objects flexing around stationary ones is da** hard to create, let alone the time to render. Just look at some of the Phys-X demos. They are somewhat lifelike, but no where near acceptable.
