Would you give up your life on Earth for Pandora?

Another long running thread to be started here.
Personally, I think I would.

fkeua vrrtep 03-14-2010 03:56 PM

Yes without a doubt and within a heartbeat I'd be on my way to Pandora , 100 %

R-D-A 03-14-2010 04:15 PM

Yes..i think that when i retire, im going to leave my town...permanently.

Tsmu`kan 03-14-2010 04:16 PM

If I look outside, I'd consider moving to Pandora.

But I don't know. Maybe I'll miss life here.

Sacred Tsahaylu 03-14-2010 04:51 PM

In a heartbeat. I love the simplicity of it. That way of life is totally incompatible with the societal norms of today and that is why it doesn't work anymore. But to be able to start afresh and actually live like that without interruptions would be amazing <3

Leonopteryx 03-14-2010 04:56 PM

im sorry, this is a question? DURR.

Tudhalyas 03-14-2010 06:10 PM

I would, definitely. If I could go, I'd do it without thinking about it twice.

Nektukan 03-14-2010 06:11 PM

Yes please, when can I start packing?

Boomachucka 03-14-2010 06:29 PM

You know, it really depends.

I mean, in some aspects I would miss my family and their love, but at the same time I simply revel in the thought of a simpler, non-material and non-monetarily driven lifestyle where community and togetherness takes precedence over pretty much everything.

Hmm. With that said, I think I would!

Isard 03-14-2010 06:39 PM

Still has to be one negative here. I couldn't stand living there for too long. I'm very much an "indoors" person. Now if I could live on the base I might consider it, assuming I could get a decent internet connection...

Boomachucka 03-14-2010 06:56 PM

That too- I'm assuming I would somehow be turned into a Na'vi to go there.

I mean, going in this human form... I'm a Ginger kid. I can't exactly brave the tropical sun for too long without getting a crazy burn, gah.

Now, if it were a community made up of everyone here? I think I'd deal with it! :)

Skxawng 03-14-2010 08:31 PM

It would be a no-brainer for me, and I'm sure for most others I would give everything up to be in a Haven like Pandora, but, whilst such a thing doesn't exist (That we know of ^_^) we can always dream :)

~Skxawng

PS: Ginger Hair Ftw :)

Kestor 03-14-2010 08:33 PM

Yes, without a doubt.

Sacred Tsahaylu 03-15-2010 01:52 AM

They don't welcome Sith on Pandora, lol
Just kidding :P
We have got shuttle tickets hiding here somewhere :D

Petrucho 03-15-2010 06:53 PM

yesterday we had a national blackout (Chile) . the 80-85 % of the country had no lights and I saw some people almost dying because they were with no electricity, while the blackout I looked up to the sky and was beautiful :P full of stars !

I would, definitely... I know some people will call me mad, but I don't need lights to survive, menari ftw

TxonTirea 03-15-2010 07:06 PM

I would, technically, in my head, I did when I met all of you guys. So I'm already there. But yes. I would.

Fosus 03-15-2010 07:26 PM

Yes. Definitely.

Tsawke`Iheyu 03-15-2010 08:18 PM

I would... but I would also take the ones I love with me.

Gunny 03-15-2010 11:33 PM

hmmmmm, living where I live now and being stuck in this same life? Yes, especially if I could be a Na'vi.

Tsyal Makto 03-15-2010 11:51 PM

Hellz yes! :)

Life is simple, scenery is jaw-dropping, and birds are big enough to ride (sure beats the body scanners at O'Hare :(). :P

Aquaplant 03-18-2010 01:41 PM

Well I wonder would it make any difference for me anyways. I would still probably be as miserable as I'm now, so just changing scenery might not matter. Then again at least there would be loads of new stuff at first, but after a while it all might just be trivial like everything here on earth.

It's a hard question in the end, and I think it all boils down to the pros and cons of both places. That being said it's impossible to judge the situation on a purely factual basis, since it's not specified what kind of life could one have on Pandora. And even if it was specified by one person, it would still be difficult, since we all want variety of different things from life.

Anyways this poll is a bit too vague, so I'm not going to vote. At least not until I get some more specific parameters on which to observe the situation a little better.

Drewan 03-19-2010 01:32 AM

I would without a backwards glance at my prior life....I would wish a start in a avatar body & as soon as I knew my way around to be made one with Ewya...

~ViperSB1~ 03-19-2010 05:01 AM

Of course, thats the first thing I wanted to do after seeing it...

Immo39 03-19-2010 05:12 AM

Its an extremely one-sided argument..

Stanley_9875 03-19-2010 07:01 AM

I would drop everything and go live there... Actually I'll go here now I got my boxers on I think I'm ready haha I'm obviously a Na'vi and just everything here is a dream to me... So beautiful...

SullyJake1 03-22-2010 04:33 AM

i would drop everything just to go for a visit. but then id never want to leave

Fkeu'itan 03-25-2010 09:56 AM

Absolutely without a doubt. Even if I wasn't to become Na'vi.

PunkMaister 03-26-2010 02:18 AM

There is something missing here and is the fact that the lives we live today would not be the lives we would be living if we were living in the movie's future version of Earth which is nothing more than a lifeless rock that only contain 2 lifeforma Humans and genetically engineered Chemosyntetic algae (Chemosyntethic because the atmosphere is so noxious and polluted in that future that virtually no sunlight seeps through as seen in pictures from the survival guide, the scrip and so on so the alga would have to rely on Chemosynthesis instead). So if that were the case all your diet would consist solely of that algae the oxygen of the planet is nearly gone too so humanity and Earth are both slowly but surely dying in the franchise there is no question about that. So given the circumstances I would set out to find any world that can sustain human life if at all. I'd love to visit Pandora but I know we would never be able to live there anyway. My 2 cents on this whole subject. Now if we are talking about the present I have no idea how that would even happen unless we somehow obtain alien tech that allows us to get to Pandora that much sooner but then the circumstances would be totally different from that of the movie all together.

Sovereign 03-26-2010 03:41 AM

If by give up you mean become a Na'vi and live as they do, yes. If you mean dumping me on Pandora with an exo-pack, no :P

Yes, I mean being Na'vi. A single human on Pandora wouldn't last long :P

Yes, that would be a little disheartening... Haha

You can say that again.

Helicoradian 03-27-2010 06:39 AM

If it was possible, I would be on a shuttle tonight...

Grif 03-28-2010 07:22 PM

I would give up my personal life, but there is so much I think I can do for Tierra.

Same here. Now, I just need to get myself an avatar...

NYSEF816 03-29-2010 06:45 PM

I am a 'no' person. I love being human and being a part of humanity. We have some serious issues, but we are mostly good. there are hundreds of times more volunteer organizations then terrorist groups or militias.

Iluvrien 04-07-2010 01:47 PM

Sadly I would have to say no.

I would give almost anything to be able to go to Pandora. However, I quite think that I would like to take my wife with me. if I abandoned her to sate my own desire for that wonderful world then I think I would have betrayed the spirit of Pandora before I even got there.

Human No More 04-07-2010 01:58 PM

What about if you could bring other people, assuming they wanted to go?
