Looking for concept art

Some months ago, I found some concept art (don't know if it was here or on AF), which was mainly white "sketches" of Navi-heads.
Some of them looked really weird, like some Star Wars-aliens, other more like the finished Na'vi.

I have googled my ass off, searched through ToS and AF, and just cannot find it. So where have they gone?

Sounds like you're referring to the sketches featured on disk 3 of the Avatar DVDs, the production feature thing. Not sure :hmm:

I said heads, not hands. ;)
But thank you.

I think this is what you were talking about, I don't have a digital scan but a pic from 'The Art of Avatar' book.

Derp, sorry for misreading :P

I have The Art Of Avatar as well, but sadly no scanner, so can't improve on it much.

I got a scanner...

Am I the only one who really things the 4th one on the top row actually looks pretty neat?

It seems I may have to swing back through my local borders, maybe I can get a closeout deal on the Avatar art book.

The others look relatively weird (bottom row excepted), but that one has something different. It's nowhere near as good as the Na'vi, of course, but somewhat reminiscent of the asari.

^ Those guys were freaky haha (offtopic: how useful would a clone army have been against the RDA :p) When I look at some of the concept art, I'm really glad they changed the Na'vi and made them the way they look in the film.

Human No More 08-24-2011 01:32 AM

They needed humans to be able to empathise with them - no problem with scifi fans for most humanoid species, but it's a lot harder for average lusers the less human someone looks.

Pa'li Makto 08-24-2011 06:22 AM

That is pretty true. Even kids would like the Na'vi because they appear to be very catlike.

I wonder what would happen to Avatar if Cameron did use a more alien species to represent the Na'vi?

Cyvaris 08-25-2011 01:43 AM

Well I picked the Making of Avatar book u pat Border's for $15....dang I like some of the concept art. The early Thanotar is just awesome, as are some of the concept art for the Tree of Souls. I really would love it if they released some of those as posters/lithographs.

Pa'li Makto 08-25-2011 07:28 AM

$15 dollars is a great deal!
