Zoe Saldana reveals to have had a mental breakdown after "Avatar"

While the Na'vi may be sturdy and "hard to kill" due to their physique, they are quite fragile in their soul (as we could see in the scenes, when Neyney learned about Jake's betrayal)...

It seems, that the actors, putting all their energy into making a movie such as our favourite one, aren't immune to exhaustion, either:

Avatar star Zoe Saldana reveals how starring in the biggest box office hit ever gave her a breakdown | Mail Online

The good thing to read in this article is, that Zoe knows how to take some downtime and has friends and family to lean
on and trust in:
Quote:

"But she admits she has came up with a unique coping method to deal with all the rushing around she has to do as a A-list movie actress.
She said: 'I just stay at home and do absolutely nothing.
'When I was younger, that would have made me feel like such a failure. Now that I'm older, I know what it means to shut down.
'I don't shower if I don't want to. I don't answer e-mails.
It's a healthy way of being selfish. You know you're old when gardening, the Food Network and voice notes from your nieces and nephews blow your mind.'
The New Jersey actress also believes having a small group of close friends, rather than getting mixed up in the Hollywood party scene, has helped her.
She said: 'If you surround yourself with good people, if you’re having a bad day – which everyone does – they will protect you, and it will never reach any kind of surface.
'But if you surround yourself with people who don’t really love you and care for you, they’ll be the first ones to expose you. That’s dangerous.'
Hang in there, Zoe!

Hmm, interesting.

Also, nice to know that she isn't turning into the stereotypical hollywood bitch.

Hard to tell, but I lean towards agreement with Iron Jones' comment.....

Reminds me of this-

James Horner: 'Scoring Avatar has been the most difficult job I've done' - Times Online

“I promised Jim I wouldn’t take on any other work for a year-and-a-half, and it has taken that length of time. I work from four in the morning to about ten at night and that’s been my way of life since March. That’s the world I’m in now and it makes you feel estranged from everything. I'll have to recover from that and get my head out of Avatar.”

Maybe they should hop over to Community Support. I'm sure we'd be happy to help

Do you guys expect her to turn into a huge bitch for any reason? Or is that just you guys's general perception of celebs?

+1, I don't know any celebs personally... unless you do... ;)

good thing that she can deal with it this way :)

Empty Glass 08-17-2011 01:43 AM

Eh...I don't know any celebrities either, but she seems smart and self-aware enough (not to mention brutally honest) to avoid becoming that stereotypical figure. And hey...I sure have times where I want to escape my email inbox for a while. :P

Doesn't surprise me, with both how emotional it is, and how stressful it must have been.

I really don't, and I am honestly surprised by people who do - they seem to have forgotten everything about her.

Moco Loco 08-17-2011 03:36 AM

I think just like everything else, there are good celebrities and bad ones. I don't however think it's right to generalize them as all being bad or smug, that's all. I especially never expect Zoe to turn bitch. Anyway, whose business is it to say whether someone like this is good or bad? We have never met them.

I hope that she's okay..:S

I dare say she is... but better not cross her in a bad mood... as it reads on her Facebook page in an entry from last Monday:

"Cocked, Locked & Ready to Rock! Got an H&K MP5, .45 ACP on my hip & enough ammo to bring the pain, ha!! Xx -ZS"

Scary! :shoop:

OK, she's training for her new movie, Colombiana, using good old classic German arms tech, brought to you by Heckler & Koch. And knowing her as the serious actress she is, delving into her parts, she's doing serious business, too.

Let's hope she doesn't forget to relax, when necessary.

I hope she takes some time to relax afterwards.

Even though Zoe would of been preparing for her new movie role, something about a person in an angry mood with access to guns worries me.

Moco Loco 08-18-2011 05:28 AM

Not preparing anymore or for the past few months. The movie is due this month. She was probably just being sarcastic in that post.

That post is a caption for a photo. From who knows when, likely some time in production or pre-prodcution.

From everything that I've read about her and what she's said, I think that she has a pretty good head on her shoulders and knows how to stay true to herself.

txim_asawl 09-08-2011 01:25 PM

I'm quite sure, too, that she's not prone to become a diva - unless she's hungry, but then someone always can pass her a Snickers bar...
