World of Warcraft is free to play to a degree. So is Global Agenda. I wouldn't call them terrible games.

A 'terrible game' is a debatable subject.

It has a free trial, and Global Agenda has micro transactions.

I voted yes, but I'm not sure I want an MMO.

To be more specific, if this wound up being like WoW, I would not play it. If it were an FPS MMO, then I might consider playing it, but the problem with MMOs is that you really have to play with other people to get anywhere. One of the most attractive parts of Pandora is the possibility of exploring it, and I'd rather explore it alone, in a 1st person perspective.

The other reason I want it not to be like WoW is that I don't want it to become all about getting money or equipment or loot; that breeds repetition, and one of the main reasons why many people hate WoW is because of how damn reptitive it is.

I could go on for pages about why Blizzard is bad in general for gaming, but really, all I want out of this is:

1) A game set on Pandora directly after the events of the movie
2) A game where you start as a character of your making (think like Mass Effect) which can then choose sides
3) A game that has a rich single-player/campaign game as well as multiplayer of some sort
4) A game that does not become all about micromanaging stats, etc.
5) A game that has large amount of toolbench/crafting sessions in it

Other than that, it would be cool.

True, but you can at least enjoy a good slice of the game before deciding to commit your wallet to it.

No; I don't play any MMOs regularly.

That's exactly what I think an avatar game needs. You don't have to have an MMO to get that but I suppose we'll see what comes out in the next few years.

An RPG or something would get old. An MMO can always have something new.

Not even close. 20 levels is nothing, especially the first 20.

You still did not answer my question earlier - do you feel the same about Avatar (the movie), that it'd "get old"? ;)

For me, a game is a story, an experience - just like Avatar. It's not about the amount of content, it's about how much the content affects me. And I can gladly re-experience good single-player games over, and over. :)

LOVEAvatar: I'm not saying an Avatar MMO would be a bad game, and some may definitely be able to enjoy it - but it's nothing I'd be interested in, personally. To use a metaphor, it'd be like watching Avatar in the cinema with people around you constantly talking to each other and loudly commenting what's happening in the movie. Would totally ruin the experience.

I like experiencing a game all by myself. I like being able to immerse myself into a storyline without anyone else interrupting. I like being able to control the game (pause at any time, save at any time, etc.) - besides a great storyline and experience, all those things is what I look for in a game.

Thus, while an Avatar MMO may very well be a good game, I'd never want to play it. ;)

I'd say it would at least help you make up your mind though.

From playing both MMO's and single-player RPG's, RPG's definitely give the best gaming and story experience. MMO's are entertaining in the long run, but doesn't give the same quality of gaming experience which I have experienced in RPG's (such as Mass Effect 2 for example) But yes, the downside with RPG's is that you only get so much gaming content.
