Whenever it comes down to MMOs, a few things come to mind:
  • The Leveling
  • The Content
  • The Grinding
Grinding is mostly done by the player and not the game so this may not be the issue depending on how well the game is developed. In rare cases, the game can reward you enough through a few batches of quests/missions that you'll feel like you've accomplished enough for one day of playing. I'm a veteran MMO player. I've played WoW, LOTRO, Eve Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Motor City Online, and a bit of Aion. All of these subjects take priority after 30+ hours of playing the game. Even if Avatar was made into a very well made MMO, the players would manifest their preconceptions of Pandora to what the game illustrates it as; thus removing the best part of Pandora from us: How we imagine it.

I would not play this if it were an MMO, I would not read or watch any video of it. The pure imagination that streams through Pandora will remain intact, unmolested.

I say definitely I would play it. Of course I am the type to try almost any game if made right. Though I do enjoy open-worlds, I don't like games that lack story line (or has one that lacks thoughtfulness)
