Stoked about this. I was at Animal Kingdom this summer, comparing the "tree of life" to hometree. LOL I posted about it even.
Hope there's a toruk rollercoaster or something. :) |
^PLEASE TORUK ROLLERCOASTER.
I hope they do add a really badass ride so there's one other besides Mt. Everest :P |
Sounds intresting.
|
As long as its the Florida park I'm game. Hey other Florida people looks like we need to set up hosting the 2013 meetup! I nominally make myself chief of that comity.
All in favor. Aye Opposed crickets Cyvaris is now in charge of setting up the Florida stuff. |
My ephipany on IRC:
(11:33:04 PM) Clarke: Avatar @ Disneyland means cast members dressing up appropriately, and there are lots of ways that can go very badly wrong. :P |
I think Disney have the potential to mess this up, very badly. I do NOT want to see it made all 'child friendly'.
In the words of Grace, "Oh sh**". |
I totally did not see this coming.
|
Avatar at Disneyland; what could go wrong? They can have "Na'vi Thirst Quenchers" (blue Gatorade), a parade of course, with Quaritch waving from an AMP suit, and Wainfleet selling sturmbeest balloons yelling "Git some!" and plush thanators, and a Neytiri doll that says "You are Toruk Makto", and nice friendly RDA soldiers manning a bulldozer ride, and...
Okay, so what else could go wrong? |

I'm unsure about this, it could be fun and interesting if done well but if done bad it could be a goof that ruins the idea of what Avatar really stands for in the hearts and minds of the population.
|
hmm, while I see the potential for a future AvatarMeet meet up...I don't know how this will end up.
like some have mentioned, I think Disney could screw it up. :hmm: Quote:

As many have concerns about Disney "screwing it up" and making Avatar a mockery, I like the idea in a sense that it could not only be fun but perhaps they can incorporate some educational attractions as well. I mean they have done rides for Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc and it didn't take away from those movies. Plus, who wouldn't like to see Disney's imagineering department do awesome things with the Na'vi, Pandora and all the great creatures. Disney has always had a great imagineering department for sure. ;)
With James and Jon at the helm I am sure they don't want to see it done half a**** or in bad taste. You all know how JC is and I mean there is so many fun ideas that could be brought to the table for attractions/rides. I myself would be totally interested in have a "clan meet-up" there for sure. Count me in! ;):) |

The over-merchandising is another issue, certainly. |
Yeah, with their imagineering department, I think Disney has the potential to do a really spectacular job and blow all our pants off. Although mine will already be off because I'll be dressed as a Na'vi lawlz. But anyway, like misstammie said, with James and Jon at the helm I am sure they're not going to let it be done half ass. Plus, if James don't like something, he will NOT hesitate to make it known. I still remember that story about the rocks that Laz told at the June Seattle meet up. I'm sure James will have the final say about stuff. It's his movie and vision after all.
