The Christianity Thread

So I think it's great we have two new sub-forums! And so in this one I thought I'd start a thread for the users here who are Christians!

It'd be cool to know who is a Christian and what branch of Christianity they've grown up with.

And there should be threads for other beliefs as well! :D

My parents are very loosely christian. So loosely that I was brought up with almost no knowledge of christianity :P

iron_jones 10-03-2011 04:35 AM

Yeah, there's quite a bit of that these days, which is fine.
Were they church goers?

Moco Loco 10-03-2011 04:37 AM

Not at all :P The first time I was in a Catholic church was when my great grandfather died. They did a funeral communion (not sure how regular that is, strikes me as weird today) and instead of eating the little wafer, I put it in my pocket. The priest flipped.

iron_jones 10-03-2011 04:50 AM

Oh ****.
I'm not to familiar with how the catholics do things but I can imagine that not eating the wafer ain't cool :P

So would you consider your self a Christian today?

I was baptised as a Catholic after I was born, by request of my mother's family but my own parents are only loosely Catholic so I never got into mass and only went to church once when I was 5..I converted to a Celtic faith when I was a teenager and have been with that faith ever since.

You should make a thread about it! It'd be cool to know about your faith!

Pa'li Makto 10-03-2011 05:14 AM

Oh I'd like to tell you guys about it but I can't talk about it in depth because we like to keep to ourselves a lot (It's a weird unwritten code I suppose) ..I mean in America there are cults and all that but there are heaps of lone practitioners like me around. I'm really uneasy mentioning my faith to anyone because of the huge amount of misunderstanding that goes around.

Anyway not to steal your thunder or anything, this is more of a Christian thread. :shy:

I had just gotten back to my seat. I turned around and saw this tall white figure with an extraordinarily wrinkly face standing over me holding out his hand. "Return the body of Christ!!!!" Dude, I'm 8, lay the **** off.

I am by no means anything. I'm probably atheist, but atheists say I'm agnostic and agnostics say I'm atheist. I don't believe in anything and personally hate the idea of God.

I believe you're supposed to put the wafer in your mouth, and let it dissolve on your tongue. Regardless though, that would scare the hell out of me. :P

I was originally kinda agnostic (seeing as when I was younger, I didn't care about anything), then I became Catholic. Nowadays, I have a mix of Christianity, Buddhism, and nature worship that I put my time into. It seems to make me much happier and more at peace then I used to be, so it seems to be the right faith for me.

Right on!

I'm a Protestant. And if you need to get very specific, I'm an Alliance Protestant. :P

Pa'li Makto 10-03-2011 07:04 AM

What's the difference between an Alliance Protestant and a Protestant?

iron_jones 10-03-2011 07:11 AM

It's just a branch of protestantism.

Just like how there's probably different kinds of paganism or wiccan practices.

Is this it or something different? Christian and Missionary Alliance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I saw "mainline" protestants in that wiki article you posted but I didn't see alliance..Though my eyes are tired from working on a huge essay..
