The 90's was awesome man. :)
I'm so pleased that you set up this thread theorist, it brings back nostalgia. :D
Of course Nirvana were one of the best and well known grunge bands but there were tons of relatively unknown grunge bands out there then.
Silverchair was one of our grunge bands back then. They were in high school when they released Frogstomp. ;)

Another Australian Grunge band. :)

GhostTiger 10-05-2011 06:29 AM

Oh man, yes!

Speaking of Bush they have a new CD out but I dunno how I feel about it just yet. lol

GhostTiger 10-05-2011 06:34 AM

I saw this on TV the other day... not really grunge though maybe?... and I had forgotten about it. Wow, old videos.
Sometimes I feel so old when I say this, but I mean it... I miss old rock videos. Really bad. lol They had a look to them that I just miss... I dunno. lol

Theorist 10-06-2011 12:19 AM

I really wish I could listen to those songs, but my sound isn't working at the moment! :(

Well, here's another good PJ one I like a lot. I bet Empty Glass will like it if he's still around, given that it is his sig :)

Pa'li Makto 10-06-2011 02:08 AM

Here's some of my faves. :)

(Whether or not your classify Sonic Youth as grunge is up to you (I do) but they were a huge part of "alternate rock" same as the pixies and nirvana.)

Some more Silverchair, just cause I can. :D

Man I could post so many of Silverchair... lol

GhostTiger 10-06-2011 06:09 AM

Oh the days MTV played music...

GhostTiger 10-06-2011 06:18 AM

I know there's a grunge vs metal issue sometimes, but I think it fits here. :)

GhostTiger 10-06-2011 06:20 AM

And one more, cause I'm in the mood... :)

GhostTiger 10-06-2011 06:28 AM

Okay, okay, last post for now I promise... I just got caught up on youtube now. lol

oh please do!!
The greatest view brings back heaps of memories. I used to watch Rage at 6am and that music video would come on. :)
Man I love this thread so much!

Theorist 10-06-2011 11:08 AM

Really kicking myself that my sound is broken. Need to listen to these.

Here's another good Pearl Jam one. My dad told me he wanted this played at his funeral, and then we listened to it, and I was fighting back tears the whole time

Pa'li Makto 10-07-2011 06:15 AM

That song is very sad, same with listening to that song and thinking about a funeral..
I'm now listening intensely to Tumbleweed, so glad I discovered them thanks to finding stuff to put on this thread. ;)

Theorist 10-07-2011 11:30 AM

That's what I love about grunge, is you can have the sad tear jerker songs, or the head banging screamy stuff. But I just found out I can use my old iphone with a cracked screen as an ipod still, even though it doesn't have a sim card. So that doubled my music storing capacity. Once I get my computer back, I'm definitely gonna download some silverchair.

Pa'li Makto 10-08-2011 12:34 AM

Awesome stuff!! Silverchair are pretty good, though don't listen to their stuff now, it's all pop.>.< Tumbleweed I have been listening to non stop. Grunge doesn't have to be screamy.. I love the heavy guitar riffs and the no frills music. :) Music sounds so much better without synthesisers, drum machines and the like.

Moco Loco 10-08-2011 01:23 AM

No props for Alice In Chains?

Pa'li Makto 10-08-2011 07:01 AM

Never really heard any of their stuff to be honest. That track is a great one though Moco.

Theorist 10-09-2011 11:20 AM

ooh, polly is a good song, although the story of the song is very dark.

Pa'li Makto 10-10-2011 02:25 AM

Indeed though the guitar riffs are so good in that song.

Moco Loco 10-10-2011 04:20 AM

Alice In Chains is one of those grunge bands that made a contemporary comeback :P Two years ago, they put out a new album, and to my surprise, I really liked it.

Theorist 10-10-2011 11:42 AM

wait, silverchair is pop in austrailia? I've never heard of them until now, athough most of what I hear is already on my ipod

Silverchair used to be grunge but their last album was more pop than anything else..Such as the track Straight Lines.
They were so much better before they reformed in 2006. >.<

The good old songs. :)

Theorist 10-13-2011 11:11 AM

More pearl jam. Can't wait to get my computer back so I can download some silverchair

Pa'li Makto 10-17-2011 11:49 AM

That oceans track is so good. :)

More Tumbleweed!!

Sonic Youth:

Theorist 10-28-2011 01:15 AM

I like this one because of the over powering dreariness to it. Just the depressing grayness of it.

I especially like "It's okay to fish because they don't have any feelings"

Pa'li Makto 10-28-2011 02:57 AM

Aww poor things. :P

That song can make you zone out a little. It is very good though.

I know Garbage might not be completely seen as "grunge" But a lot of the sound is similar and it was out at the same time as many grunge bands.

Smashing Pumpkins

Soundgarden.

I know Tool are more alternative then grunge but this song really seems grunge to me..

Moco Loco 10-28-2011 03:28 AM

Soundgarden! They're another post grunge (I consider Garbage more grunge than Soundgarten tbh) band which reunited :D They're at Voodoo fest tomorrow, but I know literally no one who wants to see them and the tickets are $75.

Pa'li Makto 10-28-2011 06:09 AM

;) It's hard sometimes to classify something as "grunge". As long as it's raw and rock sounding, no frills music and the lyrics seem angsty then you could call something grunge..How many bands seem like that?

:P

Damn $75 is quite a bit.

Theorist 11-05-2011 10:41 AM

wow, before when I listened to given to fly, I just heard the music which was beautiful enough on its own. Now that I read the lyrics and can hear them in the song, it just became so incredibly beautiful. Damn.. all I can say.

Pa'li Makto 11-05-2011 11:29 AM

Mind posting up some stuff so we can all listen along with you? ;)

Theorist 11-05-2011 04:09 PM

Here's one with the lyrics. Sorry I didn't post it in my last post, I think I did posted it earlier in this thread, but it didn't have lyrics. This one does though. Except I don't like the pictures, I personally just like to hear the lyrics, and watch the movie in my head.

my favorite lyrics are "He floated back down cause he wanted to share, the key to the locks he saw everywhere."

Pa'li Makto 11-08-2011 06:50 AM

That is such a good track. It's so beautiful to listen to. Even more so when you read the lyrics as well. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Theorist 11-16-2011 02:25 AM

Just want to clarify. I don't think fish don't have feelings, I just like the lyric incase anyone misunderstood.

like the sarcasm in this one

Pearl jam, very soothing

I always joke with my dad what would happen if my grandma asked me to say grace at thanksgiving or christmas, and I said the lyrics to this one

Pa'li Makto 11-16-2011 05:15 AM

Woah these are great. :) Thanks for posting the Nirvana one, I hadn't heard it.

Thought I'd post this:

Plus this one:

Last one:

Theorist 11-17-2011 02:14 AM

Reallly wish I could put these on my ipod, but I recently wiped my HD, and can't get songs from my ipod onto my computer :(

alice in chains and soundgarden are really good though. Liked the second regurgitator one too.

Not completely grunge, bout loud screamy, and angry. Not melodious at all, but I like the anger in this one
