2011 Halloween Thread! (and check-in)
 

Jake Sully had a great time last year! (Unfortunately I can't upload pictures...you'll have to look at the A-F thread...)

What have you got for this year? Are you going to do it? On the fence? Post your plans, inspirations, and techniques!

I'll start with a teaser: the stripes are MUCH easier than you think if you know the trick.

I'm quite tempted to try and do it...probably won't though, not enough time.

I'm going to go for it... I still have all the materials for a costume tail left over unfinished from last year, that I brought specifically for this year.:P

I should be able to try and do it this year again :)

Anyone in the Reno or Sacramento area (or who can drive there, e.g. from the Bay Area) who wants to join a hunting party of Na'vi this weekend needs to PM me immediately.* I can help with the makeup, the stripes, and the tail...clothes/props are your responsibility. (They're really easy if you're an Avatar...a bit tougher if you're native, but there are solutions.)

(* Must be 21 or older.)

Basic shape of the tail made, all that remains is painting... Looking *very* good right now, even if I say myself. Updates w/step-by-step and pics in costuming forum soon.

I'm currently working on a different costume atm. It's slow going, but I'm trying to make a lion costume (possibly fursuit if I get really ambitious).

For All Hallows Eve I'm going as goblins and ghouls.

Had my party last night, as it was the day that the Union here had the main Haloween dance... Going for it again on the 31st though.

I had a good ratio... About 10 "Hey, that guy is out of Avatar..."and 3 "Avatar guy, we love you!" to only 2 "Look, it's a smurf". I can deal with that. ;)

^I bet if you were someone trying to go as a smurf, you'd get more "hey look it's an avatar guy" :)

My Cosplay Halloween 2011
 

Hey everyone. I wanted to show you pictures of the cosplay I did for Halloween. Its basically my own design of a original character that I did. I had tons of fun putting all of it on and making the wig. People were VERY impressed of all of it as well. ♥ literally screaming "HOLY ****!" when I passed by, as well as "Oh GOD, its AVATAR!!!" XD Felt awesome! :D

I also learned lot of good stuff that I could improve when I eventually do the real thing in Seattle. :cool: Sigh, I still get warm fuzzy feelings when I think back at this now... :love: :shy:

Is that the reelmagik prosthetic? It looks a lot better as part of your costume than in the photos on their site :)

Thanks, its really the Reelmagik prosthetic mask, the "female" one. :) It looks so much better due to the smaller nose. I think the bigger "male" one is too big to fit most faces, that's why I chose this one and I love it! :D
