Last I watched the whole movie all the way through was in theatres, before I even knew AF existed. So it was probably late January early February of 2010
|
Just watched it today. Well half today, half yesterday. First time I've seen the extended cut. It was pretty funny when Neytiri said "Hell yeah" during the rhino hunting.
But damn do I want to go back |
Which version do you prefer?
|
I think I like to extended edition, probably because it's longer. It was pretty sad when Jake had to kill Tsu'tey though, and I know some people didn't like the sturmbeast hunting scene.
And HNM, I know what you mean about Earth feeling dead. It doesn't feel dead to me all the time, but sometimes it does, except I don't want it to feel dead. I want it to feel alive. |
I like the original best, but I still havent taken the time to watch the collector's edition. I do own a copy on blu ray though.
I find it is much more difficult to watch Avatar the entire way through when I'm at home. Also, I didn't consider a 30 inch television to be "small" until I got Avatar on blu-ray. However. Screening Avatar Part of See it Big! Thursday, December 29, 7:00 p.m. Add to my calendar Buy Tickets Dir. James Cameron. 2009, 162 mins. Dolby Digital 3-D. With Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver. In Cameron’s state-of-the-art epic, a paraplegic marine is dispatched to the moon Pandora and sent in avatar form on a unique mission. In this enthralling, provocative story that questions and embraces the place of technology in the natural world, Cameron pushes the limits of filmmaking to create an awesome, immersive 3-D experience. Avatar is the all-time box office champion (although adjusted for inflation, Gone With the Wind is number one). AAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH. *marks on calender* I check Fandango every few weeks to see if its playing anywhere within 50 miles of my location. :awesome: |
Lucky!! I like the extended version, but I think it could be a lot better if all the deleted scenes were included, like the tribal dance, the spirit hunt and the fight with Tsu'Tey. :)
|
Unfortunately, the movie would've been waylong if those had been left in :P Of course, not that many here would've minded >.>
|
Definitely. The main reason it wasn't longer originally was it fitting on non-digital IMAX reels (why the rerelease's credits are quite a lot shorter), although I still wish they'd put more in the CE...
|
Perhaps we'll see an edition like Blade Runner, where they release the whole cut, with all scenes included (that are at least mostly finished, anyway) in the film, so you can watch it in it's entirity.
With a lot of these kinds of re-cuts, they're at the mercy of the director as to what goes in as extra, and what stays out... Bu sometimes the fans get thrugh and they allow them to have everything they've got. :) |
Well, JC certainly said that he wanted to get 'as much as possible' done for the CE. I guess our best hope is some kind of ultra CE for the sequel.
|
Perhaps we'll get something similar to the LotR boxset in 2015?
