Alien Abductions

Now, personally I have my doubts about their validity. But I mean if they actually happened, and you were actually the person taken on an alien ship, and probed and tested on, imagine how freaked out you would be. Nobody would believe, and you'd just be freaked out of your mind for the rest of your life. I mean I doubt the stories are true, but if they are for nay of those people, it must be pretty f*ing scary.

Clarke 11-03-2011 01:25 AM

I can't help but notice the stories of medieval people being abducted by devils and other supernatural creatures are eerily similar.

Theorist 11-03-2011 01:51 AM

haven't heard any of them

Moco Loco 11-03-2011 02:48 AM

Yeah, abduction stories go way back.

Theorist 11-03-2011 03:10 AM

Do you mean to say that the alien stories sound like copies of the devil stories?

I mean I have no idea if any are true. I'm just imagining how much paranoia there would be if one actually happened to you, cause nobody would believe you

iron_jones 11-03-2011 03:23 AM

Oh hai.

I'm inclined to believe somethings going on, but there's plenty of wild fantasy and plain old attention whoring at work too.

Advent 11-03-2011 09:51 AM

I'm not saying it's untrue, as I'd hate to bear ignorance of any kind. I'll just believe it when I'm given irrefutable evidence.

Cyvaris 11-03-2011 02:19 PM

I was abducted by aliens once!
Sadly they didn't have any change.

Human No More 11-04-2011 04:05 PM

Unlikely: Yes.
Impossible: No.

On the other hand, any aliens sufficiently advanced and intelligent enough to reach Earth would likely know better ways of performing their research/whatever - indeed, if they didn't just make first contact.

An alien advanced and intelligent enough would most likely do the best thing for the universe, destroy earth before we become a blight on galactic civilization.

Yes you sir, your a blight, and you sir, and you.

Maybe they would just take our noses to make human horn?

We would just probably get smashed by some other advanced space faring race if we go about thinking too highly of ourselves. I'd wager there are even more dangerous races out there than our collective stupidity put together.

Until I get my Omega Destroyers, I'm not counting too much on that one.

Theorist 11-05-2011 09:45 PM

All I gotta count on is my left and right bicep.

nah, I kid. I kid, my biceps are smaller than my forearms.

Moco Loco 11-05-2011 10:34 PM

There are a very limited number of ways out of New Orleans, as I first fully discovered during Katrina. I really don't want to be here when any type of disaster happens, and especially not aliens :P

Human No More 11-06-2011 12:10 PM

Well, it depends on the type of aliens and what they're doing. Generally, supposed 'abductions' happen in the middle of nowhere to people who are desperate for attention, which is what makes them seem suspect :P

Layzie 11-06-2011 03:36 PM

If you've ever heard abductees under hypnosis describe the abduction, it actually doesn't sound so freaky. I've noticed a similar pattern in people who go under hypnosis and tell their stories. It's basically the same thing, only some people are scared of it, and others tell their stories in a more positive light. Both types of people tend to say that even though they don't speak our languages, they were still able to communicate and told the abductees that they don't mean any harm by what their doing. Some people get freaked out when they remember these stories. Others pretty much relax as the aliens told them to and don't see it as frightening.

I don't mean to sound like a weirdo or something. I just think it's an interesting topic which I've been learning a little bit about these cases for a while now.

Theorist 11-06-2011 03:38 PM

Yeah, they usually sound pretty fake. But Area 51 is about the only one (that I've heard of) that I have some suspicion about.

But, if you were someone who was abducted in a random spot, it would suck when no one believed you and called you crazy.

According to the Hitchiker's Guide, some aliens do it for exactly those lulz. :awesome:

People don't make stuff up under hypnosis.

Sorry Layzie I was posting to agree with HNM your post wasnt there when I hit post.

Idk much about the science behind hypnosis, but during my college orientation, they brought in a hypnotist, but it didn't work for me

Theorist 11-07-2011 01:00 PM

I suppose there's also that military general from the Roswell/area 51 incident, who said they were working on alien craft, but then other government officials said he was just old and senile/dillusional and couldn't remember it correctly. Which I suppose is possible too. People might have honestly thought they saw aliens/ufos, or were abducted but they were just dillusional. Or they tell themselves a lie so much they being to believe it.

The Roswell one though where the government says the general who opened up about area 51 was dillusional is a bit sketchy though

They make plenty of stuff up on hypnosis, if you convince them to.

Human No More 11-07-2011 09:12 PM

Hypnosis is insanely easy to use to create 'memories', because in order for it to work at all, the subject must be fairly highly suggestible, and are even more so while it is ongoing, then the person doing it can use various tricks to cause the person to 'recall' details, for example by asking leading questions.
