How do you experience life?

Does life feel like it is something you watch from inside your head that's going on outside?

Or does it feel like something you experience with you body in the physical?

for me it usually feels like the mind option, but I kinda wish it didn't so much.

Moco Loco 11-18-2011 09:22 PM

I don't really understand the question, so I won't vote :S Are you asking if it feels like it's really happening or not?

Theorist 11-18-2011 09:26 PM

Sort of. Are you always thinking in your mind, and just sort of going through the motions of life, or do you feel like you're really there and physically paying a lot of attention to the physical world. If that is clearer?

Moco Loco 11-18-2011 09:28 PM

Both?? :xD: I do feel like I'm living it, but also anticipating the future. I still don't fully understand, I guess.

iron_jones 11-18-2011 10:11 PM

I'm sure everyone expiriences it as a mixture of both.

Advent 11-18-2011 10:39 PM

My love for life comes from the mind, so I'm inclined to vote for that option.

Human No More 11-18-2011 11:29 PM

Both - I don't quite see how people can only actually think one way on this.

Fkeu'itan 11-18-2011 11:42 PM

Body - life rarely feels like it comes from the mind and the mind alone for me - it always seems that the underlying flow is fundamentally something physical, rather than perception.

Pa'li Makto 11-19-2011 02:32 AM

It's both for me. I think maybe we should have a both option so we can vote. ;)

Theorist 11-19-2011 03:57 AM

I almost made a both, but I was curious which one you feel more

Which one is how you feel you primarily experience life?

iron_jones 11-19-2011 04:25 AM

How can it not be both. You process thoughts and what's going on around you with your mind and feel sensations through your body.

Human No More 11-19-2011 04:45 AM

I don't think either way more or less - that was my point.

Helicoradian 11-19-2011 07:53 AM

It's a mixture of both. But I voted mind because that's what it seems to lean towards nowadays. Sometimes it does seem like I'm just going through the motions instead of paying attention to the moment.

Theorist 11-19-2011 11:26 AM

Also, idk how to make the poll change.

But Helicoradian, how often do you feel like you're just going through the motions, I feel like that nearly everyday. But I don't know how to stop. How do you make it feel more physical. I feel like my mind is always trying to block out a majority of physical feeling to get me through the day.

Pa'li Makto 11-19-2011 11:31 AM

I suppose if I had to pick one because you can't put in another poll option I'd say mind. Only because when I think about what I've experienced it seems to make more impact, become clearer and I can relive the experiences in my mind. I always seem to be more of an observer one who observes things first.

Rainbowhawk1993 11-19-2011 04:35 PM

I can't choose because I experince life with both of them. I'd say I experence life with the heart. Should have put that as a choice too.

dstroudswan 11-19-2011 07:54 PM

I see the world through my mind and rarely experience it in the physical. The reason for this is that my mind makes an excellent hiding place from the horrors of the world. Alas, if only I could shuttle over to Pandora...

It happens very often, I think it's stress related. One year ago it wasn't a problem for me. But over the past few months it seems to have slowly become worse. Wish I could tell you the cure but I don't know :(

Theorist 11-20-2011 11:22 AM

@heli, does it feel like you're mind is blocking out the physical just to get you through the day. Kind of like how on a run your mind will zone out and you won't remember your run, you will just be completely in your thoughts not feeling anything, except it happens all the time?

Helicoradian 11-22-2011 08:53 AM

That's a good way to describe it. But it doesn't happen all the time, just most of the time.

Aquaplant 11-22-2011 11:00 AM

The body is there to maintain the mind with nutrients and transport it to places. Other than that, it doesn't really have much use nor value. Then again maybe some people have use for their bodies, but mine is not as functional as I'd like it to be, so I have yet to find a suitable use for it.

Pretty much this, but I guess you meant to say that the mind makes an excellent hiding place from the horrors of the world? In its current form, that would mean that the horrors of the world have a good hiding place in your mind.

dstroudswan 11-22-2011 01:25 PM

Yep, that's what I meant.

LOVEavatar 11-22-2011 01:45 PM

I take life as it comes.

That's all I can think of atm, and none of the poll options fits me.

Moco Loco 11-22-2011 04:20 PM

I've had periods where one or the other was more dominant, but for most of my life they have been pretty equal.

Mune 11-22-2011 04:41 PM

Theorist - Should you wish to change the poll, what would you add or take away?

EDIT: New option suggested by OP added - Vote count reset at the OP's request.

Theorist 11-22-2011 04:47 PM

I would add an option that said "Neither outweighs the other in any sense"

And @heli, yes it is not all the time, only a majority of the time. Do you ever feel like you have a "phase in" where everything looks so clear and vivid, and you feel physically here on earth, but then you slip back into your mind?
