Skyrim!

Get it! It's amazing! :D I never played other elder scrolls, but imagine a medieval fallout with magic and mythical creatures! simply awesome and isn't even nearly as buggy as people make it to be, in 40 hours of playtime the game froze on me like 3 times and I had like 1 buggy enemy body and 1 bugged objective marker (travelling fixed both). Beautiful nature scenery, interesting plot - not just the main quest line - there is an unbelievable depth in this game, huge backstory and insane number of characters with unique dialogues that react to your current situation naturally, without ever feeling scripted. Not to mention huge world full of original places and absolutely no sign of copy&paste in the map. This game is ****ing awesome! :D

Human No More 11-28-2011 12:36 PM

Great game. I was expecting it to be insanely buggy since it's based on the same engine as Fallout 3 :P, but so far I've only had one crash.

Great game, although there is too much walking around :P

Advent 11-28-2011 10:45 PM

I definitely will see about getting it, but I still liked Morrowind more. Go figure. :P

iron_jones 11-28-2011 10:49 PM

GRRRUUUAGH!!!!!

Good game.

Fighter-of-Wars 11-30-2011 01:27 AM

I have played about 20 hours of it. Got it for PC instead of 360 because although I liked Oblivion, I hated the loading screens all the time. On PC there is practically no loading on Skyrim. Haven't seen it on 360 yet So I can't compare.

I really like how you can have companions helping you fight. I use them mostly to help carry my loot around. The Dragons seem fairly common though. It's a little od to be fighting Dragons more often than wolves and other monsters. EIther way they are a nice challenge and good money.

Lahea Atxkxeftu 12-24-2011 02:32 AM

This is my perfect game :) I have played Morrowind and Oblivion, but this one is the best in my opinion. :)

Hmmm, for me dragons are not so common though. Maybe because I'm not focusing on the main campain so much?

Advent 12-24-2011 03:15 AM

Got it a little while ago, definitely worth it, I must say. I've been spending ages just on the Daedric Prince quests though. :P

Human No More 12-24-2011 03:43 AM

My favourite side quests are the Stormcloaks', the Companions', and some of the random ones (like the Dwemer city under Markarth :) )

Pa'li Makto 12-24-2011 03:54 AM

Ah the Companions are the best faction in my opinion. Though now that I've finished the Companion quests I don't want to join any other faction. :)

I spend heaps of time looking for all the shouts instead of doing much of the main quest. :D

iron_jones 12-24-2011 06:27 AM

Wabbajack wabbajack, say whaaaaat!?

I haven't played in a week or two, I gotta start again.

Pa'li Makto 12-24-2011 07:17 AM

You seriously have to get the Wabbajack. It can turn bandits into little rabbits. :) Though it could turn rabbits into trolls as well. O.O

Hmm I didn't join any faction yet, but I was thinking of joining imperials because whiterun is imperial and I don't want to attack my favourite city. :S (and also I'm a wood elf and stormcloacks are a bit racist lol) Can you be a part of companions and imperials at the same time? Also, how do you get more quests inside the dwemer city in Markath? I only had the one where I had to kill the spider boss and also the one that activated the automatons inside the city, but I didn't find any more quests. Is that all? :)

I gotta try it when I go outside, but I'm struggling to carry all the things I have. Mainly because I'm lugging like 300 pounds of all different kinds of potions lol. Only tried it once so far on the guy that speaks near the big tree in whiterun lol, guards weren't happy about that. :xD:

(cough) Turns Flame Atronach into Dremora lord. (cough) :shoop:

Also, forgot to post this earlier, but the Thieves Guild questline is absolutely awesome. And it gets even more awesome when you do a pledge to Nocturnal (Daedric prince of shadows and such) and get Nightingale armour. :D

You have to take Whiterun for either side, it's unaligned. It's the same in the end except that the Stormcloaks install the leader of the Grey-Mane clan as Jarl, and the Empire do with the leader of the Battle-Borns. That's the only difference :P, and I'd say the empire and Stormcloaks are honestly as bad as each other - the Empire is a Thalmor puppet government.

Once the quest in the dwemer ruins is done, it's done. you need to find more - the College of Winterhold quest line will get you to some.

Ah so you have it then. :) Maybe try getting some enchanted jewellery or armour that lets you carry more. Though I think it would be funny to see what happened to a guard if you got them with the wabbajack.

Why not? I'm pretty sure you can join any number of factions in the game, which means you can be both a companion and a member of the Imperial Legion. I'm not sure about the Dwarven ruins though, someone else might know.
If you want to read a bit, this is some interesting reading on the Stormcloaks, Thalmor and Imperials:

Advent 12-26-2011 04:09 AM

Full glass armour, plus nearly all Daedric artifacts, and an epically modded greatsword = Happiness. :awesome:

On the subject of the civil war though, I would more readily join the Imperial Legion. Looking at the bigger picture, it would help the Empire more, and therefore be more detrimental to the Aldmeri Dominion. Also, I suppose I was shown the light considerably by some of the people in Solitude. Especially the court wizard:

"The Dominion is a sleeping beast that Skyrim can not slay alone. And worshiped or not, Talos the god was once Tiber Septim the man, and this is his Empire."

Advent 12-26-2011 12:04 PM

Right. Just completed the main quest, so here's a very important point: you can join the Legion or Stormcloaks after the main quest, I believe, so don't worry about that. :D

I prefer dragonplate armour and a daedric battleaxe, all improved to legendary and enchanted :D

That would apply if the empire was fighting the Thalmor (in which case, Skyrim would have no reason to go to war against them), but not when ruled by them. After all, it's said the same about the actual Empire right up until the Legate gets killed (I let Ulfric Stormcloak do it, for being awesome :D ).

True, but for Level 30, I think that's pretty epic. :D

Hmm. I guess I'll have to try the Imperial quest line then. After Boethiah and Vaermina's quests, of course. :P

Pa'li Makto 12-27-2011 08:05 AM

Does selling farmers vegetables count as helping citizens in order to become a thane?
Falkreath doesn't seem to have many miscellaneous quests apart from the Clavicus Vile quest and Ill met by moonlight.

Human No More 12-28-2011 12:58 AM

Not sure, might be worth a try. If any NPCs for quests have ended up killed however, you could always just use the console to resurrect them.

Also, just in case someone hasn't seen this yet:

:D :D

Seen that a dozen times this week. :awesome:

Pa'li Makto 12-28-2011 09:54 AM

I haven't seen it: I'll have to watch it right now. :D

Oh that is good! They made Nords epic in that video, which is brilliant. Also loved the "animal magnetism with the Argonians and Khajiit.

Thanks for the advice HNM, I hope it works, since there are a few bugs in Skyrim that pop up.
I think there's a quest to do where you have to return some ashes, so I'll try that too.

Anyone have any favourite shouts so far?
Mine is the fire breath one. :)

Fan Lizard 12-28-2011 10:45 AM

My favourite shout will always be "Fus - Ro - Dah"!! xD Wonderful game, it deserved the title of GOTY 2011 :love2:

Advent 12-28-2011 11:28 AM

I do quite love the 'Become Ethereal' one. Saved my life so many times, and definitely helps when you're a conjurer. :D

I think it basically makes you invincible for a short time.

I love the game also, I am like 60 hours in now lol.

Mmhmm. It pretty much turns you into mist for about 60 seconds at most, not letting you attack or take damage. Of course, if you have a Storm Atronach, or a Dremora Lord summoned.. :D

rasomaso 12-30-2011 12:29 AM

anyone know what does potion that says "appear spectral for 30 seconds" do? I mean what is it good for? I have only 2 and never seen any else, so I didn't even try it yet, but I guess you look like a ghost then?

Pa'li Makto 12-30-2011 12:30 AM

Exactly so. :) You can get some of those potions from a guy who appeared as a ghost to fool all of these people out of a cave so he could keep his treasure.

rasomaso 12-30-2011 03:05 AM

yeah but do NPCs think you're a ghost or something? :D

Pa'li Makto 01-01-2012 05:20 AM

I haven't tried it. :P
Let us know what happens Raso hehe.

Apollo 01-02-2012 09:05 AM

"Appear Spectral" is an amazing effect. It lets you be immune to ALL damage for a fixed amount of time, but like invisibility, once you do something while the effect is active, it will deactivate. This effect is ideal for falling off of cliffs of great height (no matter how deep). You can get this effect as an ability instead of a potion, but I won't tell you! Keep exploring!

I've ran into a bump of sorts in my work.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1648/exampleax.jpg

I've been experimenting with TESnipe and have come to rely on other modders to do most of my mods. Their is a person in particular who is making armored helmets into circlets to take the head slot, converting the jewelry into the armor. Perfect if your looking into retaining the natural aspects of the hair and face. Sadly the modder didn't do ALL the circlets but he's open to requests. These are meant to be crafted via smithing; it sounds difficult and alot to ask for. Being very picky, I tried to boil all the choices down to 1 headdress.

It was impossible, I can't decide between the three in the image.

Here's why (this will be in black color text to allow you to make up your own impressions):
  1. Gold and Emerald Circlet
The gold reflects her skin strips and the shiny green is a direct complementary color towards her red eyes. I did think over the brightness of this circlet; even though the base is a whole lot brighter than her skin strips, they blend together into something that isn't annoying but seamless. If the gold was a 'bit' darker, it would be absolutely perfect. Copper as a base isn't an alternative because the vanilla copper circlet is too dark to allow it to blend in with the head. If her skin was darker, it might work.
  2. Gold and Ruby Circlet
This is an interesting one! The gold does the circlet justice with her skin strips and the central shiny ruby reflects her eyes. The black pearls surrounding the ruby reflect the other types of colors on the face such as the hair (Dark Aurburn), the blacks of her eyes, even the shading on her face + neck.
  3. Jade and Sapphire Circlet
This is the most relaxed circlet of them all; but it still as deep an impact as the gold circlets. The dark base almost perfectly reflects the color of her skin and the extra darkness to the base, compared to the skin, reflect the freckles on her face. The emerald reflects her spirit, or at least Id like to think so. I really like sapphires!
If I get all 3 circlets, I'm going to need a fist-bump. But I know that isn't likely; what do you guys think.

rasomaso 01-02-2012 05:24 PM

I'd go for the ruby one :) thanks for info about the spectral potion, sounds pretty awesome! (I will hold onto those 2 potions for the most dangerous situations! haha)

Advent 01-02-2012 08:46 PM

I'd go for the third circlet, myself. Seems to fit in the picture a lot more.
Also, I finished the Imperial Legion questline last night. While some of the fort raiding was tedious, storming Windhelm felt so... epic. There's nothing else to call it.
Oh yeah, and I killed Ulfric and took his clothes. :P

Pa'li Makto 01-03-2012 05:51 AM

I'd go for the 3rd one, since I think the muted colour draws more attention to the woman's face plus it contrasts well with her facepaint. :D

Off topic, I thought I was one of the only people who liked Vilkas and Farkas of the Companions, until I looked on Youtube. :P

Human No More 01-04-2012 02:13 AM

I like the third, Jade and Emerald. Where do you get this mod from? :)
My characters wear dragonplate armour, but I think the helmet in that set looks a little mismatched and I'd prefer the look of no helmet anyway, so I want this mod (since I still want the defence from the helmet plus its enchantments :P, plus without it I'd lose all the bonuses from perks relating to a full set of heavy armour).

Speaking of mods, in case anyone doesn't know it: Glowing Ore Veins 300 at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community
Completely indispensable. You notice huge amounts more ore to mine with this.

Pa'li Makto 01-04-2012 02:22 AM

Ah that would help quite a lot. I always just bump into ore veins..:hmm:
I always wonder why you can't mine these glowing rocks in Blackreach..
http://media.officialplaystationmaga...-2-610x343.jpg

Dragonplate armour looks really good. I like it how the dragon armour comes in light and heavy. :)
My character goes around in Wolf Armour (Exquisite) and either Ancient Nord Helmet or Helm of Yngol. ;)
