Picture time! :awesome:
In case peeps didn't know, here's where I got my avatar from. ;) http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/x...04-38-13-1.jpg The end of the imperial questline. http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/x...26-18-85-1.jpg And, a shot of the Elder Scroll I managed to get. :D http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/x...32-36-50-1.jpg |
I played a **** load of Skyrim today.
|
Just putting this out here.
INSTALL ALL MODS Go through the top 100 mods and pickup all the facial/body/armor re-textures. Characters no longer look like the offspring of a human/ogre coal miner. Water retexturing, local re-textures are back up, weapon re-textures. Mother of god, its beautiful. |

Skyrim came well equipped with items to give us protection for both mage and warrior, but they lack in fashion. Even for a person with no taste in fashion would like to see a new color every now and than.
If a person wants to take the route of modding the game, their is one cardinal rule you should follow. A rule that will keep the modded game fresh but still connected to the world of Tamriel. In retrospective, stick with bows and swords, forget about the gun mods is what I'm saying lol. Try exploring a dwemer ruin with a history and you see your follower dressed up as a doll; in my opinion, that breaks the immersion factor almost immediately. How many mods you install is a question I leave to you, but if you don't want to change anything in the game, just it's looks, I'd suggest downloading a texture pack. However modding can be a tricky business when it isn't functioning the way it should. Like for example, you download a completely new set of armor (non-replacing armor set). It's working great, except you can't upgrade it at a workbench for some reason! This is an advanced problem that can be fixed by the right people, the one's who've learned the user-made modding tools (until the official SDK comes out from Bethesoda). Very common problems can be solved by:
I get my mods from Skyrim Nexus. Share your sites! Circlet armor page ============= Once the SDK comes out, I'm making my own house. I wish I could make a quick-travel point to a place in Blackreach, because where else would you like to live. (Fast Travel example image 'Linky') If fast travel is a problem in Blackreach, I plan on making a home in this place: Found both while exploring; a small cabin or house made of stone would do. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/685...0305165988.jpg Or http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8...0305231156.jpg ============= Me, and my 516 armor rating mage equpment. (Took awhile to get that high, must of been lollygaggin') http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/5...0406302653.jpg |
Skyrim nexus also has a handy "mod manager" that will download, and install/uninstall all mods, as well as updating them regularly for you.

I've got all three mods I'm using so far from the same site. When it comes to mods, I prefer not to actually change game mechanics or major additions of new things, just improve how things look (and fix the bad menu system :P). Quote:

Yes it is, it was a part of a mod meant for adding things to the smithy. It has slightly better stock armor vses the heavy dragonplate helmet because of it's materials. Kind of reminds me of the Witch King's helm.
|
I just can't stop listening to this :)

When it comes to texture mods, especially for Skyrim I think of something like this. :P
Though granted, some of the texture mods improve vegetation, clothing/armour detail and buildings. http://plus4chan.org/b/cog/src/132545326657.png The quest No One Escapes Cidhna Mine, was pretty interesting. :) |

I have seen a Rainbow Dash Skyrim mod around. http://img.ponibooru.org/_images/c85...h%20skyrim.jpg |

:) That's the best way to go about it, same with Apollo.
Was the helmet mod for changing armour values? |
LOL a pony. That made my day.

Also, some people like cheese, it seems: Try it out. "player.placeatme 00064b33 500" :D |
^ Win!!!!
Good news, the man just finished the mod involving the circlets. See for thy self. Made a image. The modder got lazy and didn't tell (or show) the details. http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/8307/circlets.jpg |
Quote:
Man that's cool. I remember seeing the cheese wheels go down the mountain. :D Anyone seen this? Apollo: That's neat, though the leather circlets still need a bit more work from whoever made the mod. |
The leather circlet seems... rigid. Must of taken the hide of a mechanical womp rat I get the impression that the folks making the mods now are all young asain people who want to create everything but what the public wants. It's completely mental; when the CK comes out, Skyrim will never be so restrictive ever again. |
Here is another completely indispensable mod:
A Quality World Map - With Roads at Skyrim Nexus - Skyrim Mods and community http://static.skyrimnexus.com/downlo...1326020983.jpg http://static.skyrimnexus.com/downlo...1326020982.jpg :D |
Ah now that mod is really, really useful. :)
Otherwise you'd have to use the tcl console code or just use a horse. |
Yeah, nothing as frustrating as exploring, being stuck at the bottom of a cliff or too steep slope, with an undiscovered location above... this mod makes it a lot easier to find the way up :) (I use the 'all roads' version).
|
I'm old fashioned. For where I'm going.....
http://www.philebrity.com/wp-content.../marty_doc.jpg |
Yeah, I still end up doing plenty of mountaineering :P, but it's infuriating when you end up with a slope that's slightly too steep...
|
True that.
I hope in one of the expansions we get to see the finished touches on the Stormcloak/Imperial questline. Not being able to see Ulfric crowned high king and being unable to patch up the previously invaded holds is a bit disappointing. |
Yeah, plus Ulfric even says about taking the fight to the Thalmor now Skyrim is free - I want to see that :D
|
I really liked killing the Thalmor north of Solitude. I cannot begin to express how satisfying it was to kill those biggot elfs. A DLC to bring the empire back to it's glory in Skyrim would be very profitable, I foresee.
|
Well maybe there will be a DLC with the completion of the Imperial/Stormcloak questline. :)
They shouldn't be able to build the quest up like that only to leave it hanging in the end.. It would be really cool to see either Ulfric or Tullius drive out the Thalmor from Skyrim depending on which side you chose. |
Agreed :)
Also, there should be a way to deal with Riften in an alternative good way, like the quest to wipe out the Dark Brotherhood; to wipe out the Thieves' Guild and bring Maven Black-Briar to justice. I was disappointed when I found out there wasn't one. |
Yeah that Maven Black-Briar is a really bully and her goons always threaten you. :S
It would be a really good idea to be able to get the thieves guild out of riften, or at least lessen their influence. This is one interesting mod. :) And this one. ;) |
I demand a shout..

If you want to take the lore-friendly approach or just want to have another mod that's cool. I suggest the Ebony Horse Armor addition.
The armor comes with the horse and your investment in purchasing the horse is protected by making your horse 'essential' (unkillable). Horses from different keeps will have different armors. |
I've never bothered with horses all that much - getting 350 stamina means you can sprint for AGES, and for really long distances, there's always fast travel - they just don't seem that helpful outside of the roleplay aspect to me.
|
Maybe Bethasda should invent combat options while on horseback. Then the horses could be more useful. :)

Don't say **** about horses. |

So many horses I bought killed themselves by running off and charging giants, falling off cliffs in pursuit of dragons or getting hit by my arrows while I aimed for a bandit's head. How about riding mammoths or dragons? That would be pretty cool. |
