Interesting... Which class do you like best ouf of the 3?

@Moco: LOL! Nice picture & response to iron_jones.. :xD:

You were drinking a potent health potion. It's relevant.

He sure is :( Fortunately I had my trusty Shadowmere.

I followed him today and he pulls up at Hamvir's Rest and then just sits there though. Don't know if he's part of a quest but still pretty awesome I guess :)

My main is a Nord. He's a tank, heavily armed and armoured and pretty much invincible now :p

I also have an Imperial who is my sneaker cut throat type complete with Forsworn stag headdress ;)

That's a shame, he should be at least some kinda boss or tough enemy to face later on.

Sounds like everybody's a Nord now! Why are they so popular if I may ask? :)

Assassins FTW! :P Lol

He doesn't attack, just rides around, and if you follow hi, there's some treasure at the end.

I really like the suggestion that he's Ragnar The Red though :D
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Headless_Horseman
The Horseman could also possibly be the spirit of Ragnar, as lyrics in the song "Ragnar the Red" that bards sing say "Who came riding to Whiterun from ole Rorikstead" and "When his ugly red head rolled around on the floor", referring to Ragnar's decapitation.
Hamvir's Rest is located North of Whiterun, where Ragnar was buried. This is another possible hint that the Horseman's true identity is Ragnar.
The Horseman is seen many times near Rorikstead traveling the direction to Whiterun, strongly indicating his true identity may be Ragnar.

Because they have the best looking models with a bit of customisation, plus, you get to play a viking :D

My main character is a Nord, with the Stormcloaks :)

I've played a couple of other characters, like a mage Argonian (my main char uses two-handed weapons and heavy armour with maxed smithing and enchanting).

Hmmm Shadowmere seems to be faster than average horses, plus Shadowmere doesn't loose health. :)

As for me, next time I'll wait for him as a werewolf and sprint up to him. My main character is faster as a werewolf than as a Nord riding a horse. :D

Maybe the Headless Horseman might get a debut in an expansion? I hope so. :)

Nice touch giving an imperial a forsworn headdress! :)

Hmmm I don't know about the "best" since whatever race you pick can depend on your playing style and what occupation you want to be. Though I'd say I liked the Khajiit because you can use night eye to see in the dark and they are naturally stealthy. Though since this game is in Skyrim, I had to use a Nord. :D :D

Seems like they changed Shadowmere from oblivion..:hmm:

Unlike the Shadowmere present in Oblivion, this version of Shadowmere is not Essential and can die. However, 15-20 days later, Shadowmere will respawn at the location of death.

@Human No More: Fascinating description... Lol Sounds like I need to get a Nord character then! :) Btw, what's a Stormcloak? :S

@Pa'li Makto: That makes sense... Almost like the guy from Assassin's Creed. ;) Lol

Jeez, Nords are everywhere! I guess I'll have to try this game out then. :D Haha

Hehe thanks :) I'd like to see some sort of story for the headless horseman, even if it is in an expansion pack. I'm not sure if he has a set route or if he spawns at random so I don't know if you'd have a hard time finding him :(

Apparently if you take a 'philter of the phantom' potion and then try to talk to him he talks back but I don't know if this is true.

The Stormcloaks are the private army of the Jarl of one of the cities Ulfric Stormcloak. They're a bunch of slightly racist but super cool nords who want to overthrow Imperial rule and bring back the worship of Talos which has been outlawed.

I guess it makes sense to play as a Nord in the Nord iteration of the game :) Plus they look like William Wallace :p

Human No More 03-08-2012 11:38 PM

The Stormcloaks are one of the two armies in the civil war, led by Ulfric Stormcloak, the most epic individual in the entire game after the Dovahkiin him/herself. They want to kick the Empire out of Skyrim for being a puppet for the Thalmor. The other faction is the Legion, who are romans rather than vikings, and want to keep their puppet leader in control of Skyrim - many in the Legion also dislike the Thalmor, but the empire is ruled by, so obviously they will not take action against them. Which side you choose has relatively little difference other than which cities you're fighting over and which wins in the end - opinion is very evenly split as to which are better, but I say Stormcloaks for life :D

FOR THE IMPERIUM! FOR THE EMPEROR!
Works for two games. :D

Also, for my High Elf character, I can't exactly stroll into Windhelm...

Wait, William Wallace as in Bravehart?? :D Freakin' awesome! :awesome: Lol Nice background story too...

Thanks HNM for the additional Skyrim information 4 da newbie! :D Lol

Pa'li Makto 03-10-2012 12:10 AM

I know that a civil war in Skyrim is just what the Thalmor want but I'd prefer to concentrate on stopping Alduin..

I'd rather stay out of the whole civil war thing..

But the Thalmor will order them not to and that will be that, unless they're going to go against the emperor himself :P. It's also a question of leadership, and Ulfric is the best there to the point that the Thalmor want the war to continue, but they did not want Ulfric to win even if it meant the Empire winning. For Skyrim to be strong, it needs a leader who can fight for it.

...and both are just as bad as the actual nominal antagonists in their universes (Chaos and the Thalmor) :D

It's possible to, although IIRC you have to negotiate a truce to get past a certain point in the main quest (very spoilery, so leaving it at that) if you haven't won the war for one side (I always win it for the Stormcloaks by then :D ).

True enough concerning Warhammer, but the Empire in the ES series is usually a just entity. The difference in this game is that they were forced to enter a treaty with the Thalmor which pertained certain terms and conditions.

I've already finished the game last year. Ended up choosing to side with the Stormcloaks because I saw Ulfric as being too important to kill. Also I wanted to have some end to the game.

I'm hoping that the possible expansions and finally another Elder Scrolls game might bring some end to the Alderi Dominion's conquest of Tamriel. :)

Human No More 03-12-2012 12:56 AM

I'd like that. Ulfric even said as much, as did Paarthurnax that the Dovahkiin will do more :)

rasomaso 03-16-2012 04:18 PM

So did you guys kill...

SPOILER

Paarthurnax?

Also what would you choose, the skull of corruption or Erandur as follower?

Advent 03-16-2012 09:53 PM

Didn't kill, took the Skull of Corruption. It's a staple for me in every ES game to finish all the daedric quests. ;)

Paarthurnax?

No. I used the console to unset the essential flags for the people who try and get you to and killed them instead (I am really disappointed that there isn't such an option in the actual quest though :( ). I really don't care about the Blades, the Greybeards were far more helpful.

Pa'li Makto 03-17-2012 04:19 AM

I never killed Paarthurnax.

The Blades became little more then glorified dragon hunters in Skyrim after the fall of Martin Septim..
If it were up to the Blades the Dragonborn would have to be killed as well because he/she has the soul of a dragon and also has the will to dominate like the dragons do. :Skyrim - Why NOT To Kill Paarthurnax (Spoilers) - YouTube

rasomaso 03-17-2012 10:50 PM

yeah I'll probably let him live, it's a dragon friend after all :D

Human No More 03-18-2012 12:53 AM

Srane, Paarthurnax is right, and good point about the Dovahkiin his/herself too. Plus, Paarthurnax actually helped me, Delphine and Esbern just slowed me down :P

Cyvaris 03-21-2012 02:21 AM

Is it bad that I want to join the Thalamar?

Pa'li Makto 03-21-2012 02:29 AM

@HumanNoMore:

Definitely. Paarthurnax teaches you more about the language of the Dovah and increases the power of certain shouts.
Esbern provided some dragon lore but the glitches concerning him almost brought the main quest of Skyrim to a standstill.
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Esbern_%28Skyrim%29

@Cyvaris: It all depends on you and how you feel about the Thalmor.
