So now it is TWO YEARS since...

AVATAR entered our hearts and souls....

Can you believe it? Just to help you remember, this was premier night:

Here are two more links:
Avatar World Premiere with Paperlilies - YouTube

So when you look back over the past two years, that have raced past like an Ikran being chased by a Toruk, how far have you come? What changes has it made to you? What has your adventure been like?

My adventure started on 22nd December. I came out of the cinema dazed and I had only seen it in 2D! Next came an IMAX trip that blew my mind away. And so started repeated viewings that I could not help.

A couple of forums were joined. I lurked for a bit as I began to find my new feet into a wider world I had not ventured into before.

Returning to work after the Christmas holiday I could barely concentrate on what I was doing. My mind was elsewhere...you know where...

But this was only the start of my adventure and one I was not expecting. It has lead me to a group of new friends....no,...family, I did not know I had. We all ended up doing some amazing things together.

I have had the absolute priviledge of being able to meet some of you. And you have welcomed me. IRAYO. I just wish the whole world could experience what we have...

Irayo James Cameron, and your team, for making your vision a reality and sharing it with the world. You have helped make it a better place.

Irayo ma aysmukan sì aysmuke. Oel ngati kameie.

Eywa ngahu,

Alan

here here.

I can't believe that it has been two years already...I suppose its because it has only really been 1.5 for me.

Anyway another year closer to Avatar 2. :)

Moco Loco 12-14-2011 12:05 AM

It almost feels to me like it's been longer sometimes :S :P

mikkowilson 12-14-2011 12:10 AM

I agree Moco. It seems like just yesterday when this all started; and at the same time, it seems like we've all known each other for years.

2 years. I can't even begin to describe how my life has changed because of Avatar.

But here's a short version: I'll be celebrating Avatar's 2nd birthday in Seattle at the Avatar exhibit with people I'd never met until 6 months ago whom I now also consider family.

Avatar is pretty amazing isn't it everyone?

- Mikko

Moco Loco 12-14-2011 12:17 AM

Yeah :'( I wish I could be there too. Have fun though :D :P

Cyvaris 12-14-2011 12:19 AM

God two years already....dang.

All I can say is Avatar ended up giving me one of my best friends so...cheers for that I suppose.

Two years... it's hard to believe. I've had so much from Avatar, both happiness and sadness, and real friends for the first time, and so much more to come... :D

Crickett 12-14-2011 04:41 AM

I can't say that Avatar has brought me any new friends (in terms of close personal acquaintances) or that it will. Other than I'd say my folks, I don't know a single person IRL who even LIKES Avatar. But to a good extent, that's my own fault. I don't have the money to take a trip out to Seattle. I had a shot to meet up with people in King of Prussia when the movie was in theaters, but I saw even that as being too far away for me.

But what Avatar gave me is a different way of seeing the world around me, and an appreciation of nature. I'm lucky that I haven't really heard people tell me "It's just a movie". No it's not. For thousands of people, Fight Club was not just a movie. For thousands millions of people, Star Wars is not just a movie. It's a life changing event. And that's what Avatar is to me, and I'm sure to most of you too.

apache_blanca 12-14-2011 03:46 PM

How did you put it, Alan?

Eywa has taken me on a ride...one I don't want to come back from.

There hasn't been a single day that I wasn't thinking about Avatar since February 17, 2010. Some days I think Only about Avatar :shy:

It's strange but true that people I have never met became my family, I daresay sometimes even more than my blood family... aytsmukan si aytsmuke for real.

Avatar became so much a part of my life that "I don't even know who I am anymore". I don't know where I end & where Avatar begins (& I love the feeling :P) Call me AAA: Apache Avatar Alloy.

Eywa ngahu,
AAA :xD:

rasomaso 12-14-2011 04:13 PM

You said it right there for me too. I never would have thought I would have ever left the shores of the UK, but there I was in June meeting up with ma Avatar aysmuke sì aysmukan on both coast of the US. It was an experience of a life time for me. Irayo for making me so welcome.

You know, whilst I have never had a problem with fans of films doing whatever they do tomake the film real for them and live it to the full enjoyment they get from it, I never thought it would happen to me! Yet here I am. I really could not help it. It found a direct route straight to the core of my soul or at least that's what it felt like. I had never had such a feel before. Yet here we are. Hence the line in my sig.

Yeah, some ride alright ma tsmuke. Wait 'till you get to Seattle next year ;) Then you will get to meet your new family.

It is really remarkable that after two years most of us still feel fascinated about Avatar. And what is more remarkable is that the communities that were born along with it are still very active.
Still remember that feeling of shock after watching it for the first time, it really felt like like a shock and then, that addictive feeling of going again and again to get fascinated about it.

Theorist 12-15-2011 04:23 AM

Damn...that's really all I can say. I can hardly remember 'before.'Two freakin years! Just...damn, everything is so different now.
