Just got home from... something awesome! :stare: IMO I just enjoy a movie more if I know it is being observed by others. It's like this sense of a sharing experience that feels better than watching a movie (like Avatar) alone.

Also watched How to Train your Dragon yesterday for the second time :)

Woodsprite 01-06-2011 07:31 PM

Also really great when the audience reacts correctly to the screen, like laughing at the right moments.

Oh, and last was... *tries to remember* I think The Green Mile. Sometimes I tear up at the end. Didn't this time, though.

Or they can really f*** it up by laughing/reacting at the most inappropriate moments. Hasn't happened with HP (yet) :)

Oh it happened with me... Second scene. Hermione and parents. Pivotal moment of the film. A pot-bellied imbecile 5 seats away coughs about five times, starts picking out of his popcorn bucket as loud as he possibly can, sips his drink, and belches. I could've strangled him... Luckily it wasn't my first viewing.

Fighter-of-Wars 01-07-2011 04:27 AM

Oh I hate when people do that, my second viewing of Tron had two girls and a dude right behind us, they practically commented on the whole thing. Saying "thats so stupid", "who is Tron", "look at their outfits" and of course laughing. I was on the verge of telling them to shut up. I'm hoping next time I watch it I won't have that problem.

On my first viewing, a few people reacted to Hermiones pronunciation of "Coming Mom". You could hear that her voice broke a little there, I dunno if that's how thought it should be or not. But there were a few girls that laughed and mimicked her. -.- Besides that, there were a few people munching on their chips or w/e. Was only a bit annoying.

Woodsprite 01-07-2011 09:16 AM

Very annoying I'm sure... Her voice broke because she was probably on the verge of tears from thinking about what she was about to do to them.

neytirifanboy 01-07-2011 01:05 PM

I saw The Losers a few days ago.

LOVEavatar 01-08-2011 10:39 AM

Had a movienight with some friends last night :D From early evening to 3pm. Watched the Expendables first of all, a good action movie but I thought there was too many characters that was off-screen for far too much.

The Hurt Locker... :stare: It REALLY had me going there, until the middle part of the movie when it kinda got boring. Again, it really isn't comparable with Avatar, completely other genres of movie. But it IS a better movie than Avatar, I give it that. Incredibly filmed, and acting. But Avatar still have the experience as a high ace. :)

And last of all we watched my Death at the Funeral I got for christmas. :D A fantastic comedy movie! The original british version ofc, not the amercian crap version.

And now today, I hope the guys will have some strength left to watch How to train your trainer. But they are doubting it ... I must Force them! :shoop:

LOVEavatar 01-08-2011 06:59 PM

Hell Yeah! I made them watch HTTYD! :D They liked it too :)

Also watched The Untouchables, quite good.

Human No More 01-09-2011 04:01 PM

I seriously hope you were trolling there. Even the parts I saw from the oscars had me bored, and the directing was mediocre if I wanted to be kind.

Eltu 01-09-2011 04:03 PM

Or, people simply like different things :P

Leequilibrium 01-09-2011 05:50 PM

Last film I watched was the Avatar CE, but before that, I got around to seeing Get Him to the Greek. Pleasantly surprised - pretty watchable movie.

'fraid I didn't  It is not just another iraq war movie, but rather unique. There were times though when I couldn't decide whether I was bored or just tensed up. Some of the scenes tended to stall very much when they were in action defusing or confronting an enemy, but it played out pretty well in the end nevertheless. And it has to be one of the most realistic war movies I've ever seen. It's a very versatile film I'd say. And the directing... mediocre? Are you... see the movie and then we'll see. But we are probably just as Eltu mentioned, "simply like different things" in movies.

Woodsprite 01-09-2011 09:37 PM

I don't care if you liked it. Like whatever you want. :) People like different things; there are plenty of movies I love that most others hate or think are stupid. :P

Two things about the Hurt Locker, though. First, it's filmed like a documentary, and I'm not one to watch documentaries too often. Second, I thought it was realistic too, until I read this article. So... whatever. I didn't think it was a bad film; it was ok. But it isn't a *better* movie than Avatar. There wasn't even an ending. Sure, I agree Avatar isn't the sharpest plotline/storyline in the box, but it really was a more entertaining, more fulfilling, and more thought-out concerning detail. Plus, it was more-widely accepted by the public.

VanyahaHeights 01-10-2011 12:51 PM

The Aviator

Dreaming Of Pandora 01-10-2011 04:35 PM

The Tourist.

A waste of my money IMHO. If I wasn't with friends I would've probably walked out and asked for a refund.

I've known about that article ever since the oscars, so I already had that in mind. There were other aspects that made it realistic (the sniper scene very much so!) and I don't think that just because the whole defusing technique is wrong it should go out on the whole movie being wrong.

But as I said; It really had me going until stuff got boring about half way in the film and when he visited that professor in his house... it just started to get weird. And the last day incident was kinda pointless. The whole movie was very well filmed, as last words.

Clash of the Titans

Bought it about a week ago and decided to sit down and see it while I was home alone...

 Mediocre, at its best! And i'm starting to doubt on Sam's acting a bit :S He pronounced his "What are they?" line PRECISELY as in Avatar, together with stiff faces, similar expression all over again, almost like they were borrowed straight off from Jake.

Woodsprite 01-10-2011 08:23 PM

You could... sell it to me for low if you want...

CotT happens to be one of those movies. :shy:

Av_Daedric 01-10-2011 08:32 PM

Lord of War

Nick Cage was meh, but the movie was great as a whole.

Wanting to watch something funny yesterday, I pulled Roger Corman's 1963 B-movie masterpiece The Raven from my DVD shelf yesterday and enjoyed the hilariously funny Vincent Price, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff, together with one of the first movie appearances of Jack Nicholson - and he already had that crazy grin practiced to perfection...

Woodsprite 01-10-2011 10:55 PM

 Another person who's seen The Raven! :D I love that movie. Corny as it is, I just love it. Even moreso because Nicholson isn't that great an actor in it. :xD: He's SO YOUNG in it, though!

Ja'k Dawsiin 01-11-2011 05:05 AM

i watched a movie called Red Planet today, with that Carrie Anne Moss that played Trinity in the Matrix movies. it wasn't bad,had some good effects on Mars, pace was kinda slow, but i still liked it. it also had Val Kilmer in it,and i guess this film was a few years ago, before he became a beached whale, lol.

LOVEavatar 01-11-2011 06:26 AM

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone :)

Have decided to make an HP marathon, one movie per day. And this first one sure felt amazing! All the classical HP stuff comes back, from being a bit left out in the later ones. The goofy "family" of his. (I IRL LOL at the Zoo scene. :xD:) Damn was it long ago... :P

That's actually a really good movie.
I watched it the other day with my BF.

Just got done watching Repo! The Genetic Opera. I swear I'm addicted to that movie.

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets in the afternoon...

then Harry Potter and The Prisoner from Azkaban in the late evening (finished watching it just now). SO much better than what I remembered it of being! Totally fantastic! You notice how drastically different it is from the two previous ones, and the acting is superb! (especially from Gary Oldman.). The plot itself is even more mind boggling than Inceptions, if you compare who's the most confusing one, cause just the back in time black thingy Harry and Hermione did by the end... WHOH! I still don't quite understand it lol :P But what really sold me was when Dumbledor shut the door and turned around and there the two were and he pretended like nothing! :xD: Ultimate Awh factor! The whole movie; Absolutely brilliant work! :D

Tsmuke_Becca 01-15-2011 09:48 PM

127 hours. Really good film actually, even if it is about a guy who cuts his own arm off with a penknife.

X.,.Pandora.,.X 01-15-2011 10:33 PM

Predators :D love that movie

Empty Glass 01-17-2011 09:05 AM

Have seen more movies than when I last posted here, but this past afternoon I watched Fanboys. And now I can say that I want to go on a cross-country road trip in a van with an interior modeled on the Millennium Falcon. :awesome:

LOVEavatar 01-17-2011 06:49 PM

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

And soon HP 5 & 6 :awesome: If just that damn mail order would arrive :shoop:

tm20 01-17-2011 09:55 PM

Crazy People. classic, one of those films where if I see it showing on pay TV i'll watch it not matter what I was doing before :) seen it atleast 3 times now

Leyra 01-18-2011 06:37 PM

The Book of Eli.

Denzel Washington was badass.

Dreaming Of Pandora 01-19-2011 04:13 PM

Children of Men.

Bleak but has a great ending. If you've seen it before and if you didn't notice, the entire scene from the morning after she gives birth through the entire action scene -- which lasts around six minutes -- is all one take. Incredible coordination and cinematography I must say.

All the gunfire, explosions, acting, is all done in 6 minutes without a single cut.

HarryCanyon 01-19-2011 06:25 PM

Evil Dead 2 on Blu-Ray: Awesome movie that looks better in high def.

txen 01-19-2011 08:05 PM

Went to see Tron last night. Seemed to start kind of slow, but it picked up. I thought that there should have been more character development for the characters of the grid.

I'm thinking about it today, but it's no Avatar.

Apollo 01-20-2011 02:58 AM

Wall-e

Despicable Me

tm20 01-20-2011 03:48 AM

The Big Lebowski

I watched it because a friend said its really good but I didn't see what was so good about it. some parts were funny but overall is was just ok.
