First it's Dreaming of Pandora's raving xD and then shortly after Patrice Maire mentions it in one of her posts? Well I needed to see that! :D
Anyway, I wanted to see it in cinema when I was young (I saw the trailer when I was seeing Godzilla or Lion King or something like that xD) but I kinda forgot about it, so that played a part too.

Well it was kinda silly (the plot, the betrayal was kinda weird), but I loved how imaginative it was. The more unbelievable fantastic stuff the better :D The characters immediately reminded me of this pocahontas disney style, very easy to identify with, the hero and the girl were both handsome and you just knew they belong together from the first moment haha. Anyway, despite the childish flavour, I really liked it. :)

By the way, pocanhonats (hahah I really like this typo :D) seems to be groundbraking movie after all! First it's the Avatar, now Titan A.E. Soon well be comparing everything to pocahontas! :D

Do you know what The Dark Knight reminds me of? Poocahontas. lol :P

The plot may be a bit 'out of this world' (excuse the pun) and the characters are easily defineable but here are the two reasons why that's okay for this movie.

1. If aliens were to ever destroy Earth or if tensions between an alien race grew. It'd be expected of humans to assure the continuity of the race. I've already posted a thread of how humans are making "back-ups" of Earth. So in the far future, I think it's likely that humans would have the technology to salvage their race in the case of destruction.

2. The characters are not too fleshed out for reasons that become apparent; animated movies are expensive and time-consuming. Making huge scenes that give all the characters depth is rather pointless and costly in a space action movie. I don't think it's necessary to flesh out any of the characters in the movie; their motives were well defined and their personalities are well constructed too.

The Betrayel scene is not well justified in the movie but to clear things up Korso (the captain) was a space pirate/rogue mercenary. He's a guy who sides with the highest bidder, the Drej (evil blue aliens). So saving the Earth was not his motives, a big wad of cash and his life was the reason why he betrayed Kale and Akima. Luckily he gets good again. :)

Hm.

Well, last thing was "Orphan", and let me tell you, I thought it was just gonna be another bad, modern-day horror without an ending with bad acting and script (like most horrors these days). And it WASN'T. I'm going to buy it. It was that good. Very intelligently edited, acted, and written. The story was fantastic. A real classic.

i saw The A Team yesterday... it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great action, great chracters and the story was more complex than i thought. B.A. Baracus was alot nicer than i thought, i thought he was the "beat the **** out of everyone" type but nope. BUT Murdoch is by far the best character XD damn he is funny!

I've refused to see it because I have a pre-judgement that the movie is just a bunch of explosions where the original A-team was a lot more than that. :L

guyguy 07-08-2010 09:58 AM

Dreaming Of Pandora 07-08-2010 03:36 PM

Hmmm since it's getting good reception then I might go see it. :)

rasomaso 07-08-2010 10:24 PM

I will probably not see it in the cinema, there is significant lack of proper bling-bling. :P

Dreaming Of Pandora 07-08-2010 10:29 PM

The Fifth Element

My second favourite movie...partly because FUTURISTIC TAXI CHASE SCENE!!

Very cool and very funny (Bruce Willis always seems to be able to crack the jokes when under fire. ;))

Woodsprite 07-09-2010 11:58 AM

Watched "Max". Film about Hitler in his youth at the end of WWI. Primarily about his artwork and his early ideas in politics. Interesting.

The best was:

Ruby Rhod: Right size, right wheels, right hand, right on. RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!! And he's got something to say to those 15 billion pair of ears out there! Pop it, D-man!

Korben Dallas: Uh, hi.

Ruby Rhod: Unbelievable!

always cracks me up :)

I've watched this movie for a few days.
The Nightfury is so cute...:D
The soundtrack is also awesome, but no opponent for Avatar OST.

I saw Predators... not bad but kinda lacking epicness in any way, just an action flick with predators and fairly good characters.

Woodsprite 07-11-2010 07:15 AM

Just saw "Jack" again for the first time in... like five/six years. Figured it'd be sort of a silly movie; kinda kiddish... But I actually shed tears. Twice!

Pa'li Makto 07-11-2010 08:33 AM

hehe I saw Moonraker a few days ago *winks*
Last two films I saw was The Water horse: Legend of the Deep and Green Zone. Both were excellent to watch.

Good film :)
I like the old ones, the new ones are just bad... there's no humour, and not even as much action, just a load of angst...

rasomaso 07-11-2010 08:56 PM

Just saw Into the Wild... let me say, it was amazing. I strongly recommend anyone who didn't see to do it. I don't want to make any spoilers here, but the last minutes did it for me, definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen.

^That movie was so depressing. D: Really good, though. But that random tits scene when he went kayaking was just weird and unnecessary. And I'm sorry, but Kristen Stewart should never take her clothes off, ever again. She's so awkward.

Last movie(s) I saw was the RiffTrax of Twilight and New Moon. Almost died laughing. It's the best thing ever. I'm hoping to get their Starwars saga riff next.

I've noticed that, too. Though, the last two Bond movies seem to be the most realistic in terms of what a James Bond would act like considering what he does.

Dreaming Of Pandora 07-12-2010 10:25 AM

amelya2 07-12-2010 10:31 AM

i just watched Eclipse and Toy Story 3

rapunzel77 07-12-2010 06:19 PM

I just watched Despicable Me yesterday. Unfortunately, with only about 3-5 minutes to go in the movie, the power went out due to a storm :(. We waited about 20 minutes to see the end of it. Overall, it was a good movie. I enjoyed it but I don't think we were justified in waiting 20 minutes to see the last 5 minutes of the movie. However, we did get some free passes out of the ordeal so that's cool.

On Saturday, a friend of our's who is in the choir at church was at our house. My husband and him has never seen Inglourious Basterds so that is what we watched. It was an enjoyable evening.

Ahhh the Matrix..I only really remember the first two and the epic battle in the third one is all I remember from it.

rasomaso 07-17-2010 05:11 AM

I watched James Cameron's... Piranha 2: The Spawning from 1981. :D Seriously, one of the worst movies I've ever seen, it's 50% hilariously stupid and 50% sleep inducing boredom. Terrible, terrible film. At least JC improved a bit before making Avatar lol.

Loverofnature 07-17-2010 12:12 PM

HAHA Raso :P and today, i ahve watched Matrix 3 :P and yeah Pa'li, that big fight in 3 and the smith fight, is what you remember :P

Woodsprite 07-17-2010 08:07 PM

Dreaming Of Pandora 07-17-2010 11:31 PM

Post Inception Depression, Woodsprite? :)
