I think so! she reminds me of those sexy animated catgirls from my 80's/early 90s boyhood such as Cheetara, Cleo on Heathcliff, M'ress on Star Trek TAS, Mirage on Aladdin, April O'Neil as a mutated catgirl in that Ninja Turtles episode, Kit Mambo on Animalympics, the Swat Kat girls, Kitten Kaboodle on Talespin, The Puma Twins on Tank Police and even Selina Kyle in that Batman TAS episode where she got turned into an ACTUAL Cat-Woman (Remember that?)

I'd consider her the best alien with some feline like features.

As has been pointed out before, humans are closer than the Na'vi.

But she still counts as a catgirl.

Like any of the catgirls i mentioned? there's also cheetah on Justice League and Aishia Clan Clan on Outlaw Star.

I believe that Neytiri is the BEST Na'vi, and Trudy the best human. (Sorry guys, I'm a pilot who used to fly Helicopters in the Army, so I resonate with that character on SEVERAL levels. Also Grace smoked, and I HATE smoke, I never smoked a single cigarette in my life, so she's out).

Everyone has a character flaw of some kind; I really do not like smoking but I still think Grace is an amazing person :)

To catgirls/catboys? You'll have to explain that one; I just don't see it.

Yes, I think that Neytiri is the best catgirl ever. I know the Na'vi aren't feline or anything, but dat tail, those eyes and that nose...

I've always been one to like feline features, catgirl or otherwise.

Size, genetics, even fur. Cats also have traits neither have, such as claws.

I wish I could remember where there was a video where JC compared the Na'vi to cats (or that he used them as a reference or something). It might have been in the special features somewhere or maybe on Youtube... don't remember :/

In either case, "catgirl" might be a liiiiiiitle far :) but if you were to consider her that then, well, of course

Humans are closer to cats is, I think, what was meant. Na'vi noses are what strike me as most particularly feline.

Which is why I answered with a "wat".

No - I just do not see any purported similarity simply because they are sentient beings with tails.

Hey folks, the Coccyx bones on a Human are a vestigial tail. Long, long ago, we HAD them, as well as a third eyelid.

Well, yeah, vestigial. You'd have to do some serious genetic fiddling to make it the long, articulate version the Na'vi have.

I really think the nose is the only feature virtually identical to cats, though yes, the best way to describe them by the standards of Earth animals would be a human/cat mix of features.

You have to remember, the Na'vi evolved on a different world, so they're not going to compare directly to any earth animal, cat, human or otherwise.

We're taking a step out of the looking glass in this thread. They were created by JC, and they share a few distinct features with cats.

Many features share characteristics to those of cats, but the noses, IMO, are at least visually identical.

I agree, he must have got his inspiration from somewhere. Most stuff on Pandora is inspired by earthly plants and animals one way or another.

...as do humans, in different ways up to and including actual fur (well, the vestigial remnant of it anyway).
