I've worked hard for this community, I've sacrificed a lot, at times it's caused me untold amounts of stress, but also happiness, and without it, I can honestly say that I would not be around today, while I'm so glad that anyone else gets the same from it that I do. |
HNM ma oeya tsmukan,
I am probably one of the newest kids on the block, but in the short time that I have been here so far, even when you disagreed with something that I said, you did so in a thoughtful, professional manner. You and Alan have both gone out of your way to help my sweetie and I get information that will enable us to get to the meetup this July. I don't think that this site would be what it is withot your constant "care and watering". Niri Te |
A couple more lines of interest (from NZ Herald): -
'No reason  was given for the delay, even though Cameron said as recently as October that he wanted the first Avatar sequel out in 2014, with Avatar 3 released a year later.' Edit: (You have to wonder what has happened in that short time to cause this major upheaval?) 'Actor Sam Worthington, the star of the first Avatar, has suggested the delays are down to Cameron wanting to drastically improve on the first film.' :awesome: "He wants a challenge. And he wants to improve the audience's experience. He's been messing about with 3D and frame rates a lot more," Worthington said. Wow, this had better be good Jim!:P |

Missed the article below first time round.
It points to a possible misunderstanding regarding John Landau's bombshell last week, which resulted in everyone accepting the worst. As an official explanation has yet to be given regarding the reasons behind the delay and that Landau has since failed to confirm his release dates, maybe this was the plan all along and he was being mischievously vague in order to guage the worldwide reaction and reignite the interest from some quarters in the process. Probably just me clutching at straws.:P Oh well. http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/5673/385101.jpg 'So there are reports today that Jon Landau has announced that the release date for Avatar 2 is going to be 2016 rather than the previously-announced 2014 date with by a third instalment in 2015. The thing is, when we asked him just the other day, he denied that delay. At the event we attended, Landau made an offhand remark about Avatar 2 being "four years out" - so we followed up to check, since that's not in line with the previously announced plans. Would it be four more years, and therefore 2016? Or the dates we'd heard before? He replied, "It's in that window, '14, '15." Now this isn't to say that the second film won't be more like 2015 than 2014, given that - as far as we know - there's no completed script yet for performance-capture to begin, James Cameron's currently working on other things (including the Titanic 3D release in April) and the films are hugely effects-heavy which will necessitate enormous amounts of digital production work. One might reasonably speculate that Landau, like many of us, is still thinking of 2011 when he thinks of the date, and is currently envisaging a 2015 release date for the second film, something that would explain both his first remark and his clarification. But to say that Landau is now talking about a 2016 release for the second film is simply not warranted at the moment, so let's just bear that in mind, eh? It may still happen - but that's not what he's saying at this stage.' Confusion reigns.:S |
My sweetie pie and I just enjoy what He HAS given us to enjoy. The movie was wonderful, and this site that it has spawned is a GODSEND. Our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have brought it to life, and those who keep it healthy. We don't even turn the TV on anymore. We watch Avatar or The Abyss, or spend our other free time on this site, on Learn Na'vi, or actually study our Na'vi lessons.
For "work" we are either building the prototype aircraft of a new experimental aircraft design into existence, or are trying to talk ecological sense into anyone who will listen. With all THAT on our plate, we don't have TIME to worry about when Avatar two will come out. We are trying to promote the ideals that the movie was the high tech and thoroughly enjoyable vehicle for. Awesome taylorcraft :D Making Avatar into living projects is the best way to keep the feeling alive and make it more than just a movie.

At least there might be a glimmer of hope there. I'm sure time will tell and everthing will happen as it should. I still say we should all meet up when on premiere night, whatever year it is and wherever it is! :awesome: Alan |
I think there should be only Avatar. Not 2, 3, ...
|
Well this is disheartening. I would like to hope Jon Landau is hoaxing us to get our attention, but if not, we'll just have to do without Pandora another two years. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I guess.

However, even Star Wars: A New Hope was only originally intended as a stand alone film. The story had a conclusion, there was no cliff hanger at the end therefore excluding the need for a sequel. Only the huge financial success and demand for the story to continue meant that GL could shoot two sequels. TESB as you may recall, definately did have a cliff hanging end. I suppose the same applies to Avatar as in respect to SW: ANH, it's story too was concluded meaning no sequel was strictly needed. But just as with Lucas' film, demand and box office receipts dictate otherwise and after all it is Avatar we're talking about here! Definitely more Avatar please.:P |
I will be very happy when Avatar 2 will be there. But i'm afraid : will this be better than the one or will I be disappointed.
|
That's why it taking longer is fine, if it needs the time to be so good :)
We all NEED more Avatar though :) |
Yes to more avatar and yes it sucks to wait but good things come to those who wait.........
|
I don't mind waiting for a couple more years as long as the film delivers quality, both in image and plot. IMHO, the second movie must emulate The Godfather, part 2 in success and critic.

Given the number of times that I have orbited the Sun on this rock, I may very well have VISITED "Pandora" or some other extra solar planet or moon like it in my Spirit Body by the time Avatar 2 FINALLY is released. THAT would be cool, walk the surface of a sun with no ill effects on a "body" I will no longer need, so touring an extra solar celestial body with a highly toxic (to Humans) atmosphere will just be a walk in the park.

Better late and great than earlier and bad. Still it feels like some one just kicked me in the testis.:(:shock:
