Great modeling skills :) me likes... looks very close to the one in the movie. Too bad there weren't released conceptual blueprints of the thing.
|
Neat, I haven't seen all this stuff in a while, great progress.
|
Good looking stuff, as usual.
If you want to find decent references to make realistic loking vegetation to cover the machines, look up lianas and strangler figs, as well as the genus Ficus and Epipremnum. These are all plants from tropical climates on earth that like to "climb" solid objects. If you want a decent model for moss too, look up the genus Taxiphyllum. |

When al the camera's are done and final i really have to add in some dense and realistic looking jungle. Will be quite a challenge :) |

Well finally all the animation from begin to end of my short is done, yay :)
Very happy with that, last months progress has been going great, now that it is finally turning into something its easy to keep on going. I havent been able to show much updates since most of my work has been animating and figuring out camera's, scenes and stuff (still struggle with that). So here are 3 short clips, one with alot of action and the other two will be a bit more emotional. Its not rendered, these are just very quick previews and the animation is still very rough! Now to clean a few things up and then i can start fine tuning the animation. Cant wait to bring these two characters to life! Really have been looking forward to start detailing the animation and to start adding some facial expressions :) Its all pretty rough still but feedback is appreciated ofc. Here Neytiri is playfully guiding Jake to a place they have been before.. Neytiri looking for Jake.. thinking of earlier memories.. |
That is simply amazing! So much talent, and such fluid animation!
|
Awesome!:) Will be the final version?

Thx, and the animation is going to get alot better then those clips!
Well i hope to get things ready around the end of summer but i'm not sure how long it will take exactly. Stuff like all the audio, lots of backgrounds, lightning, rendering and compositing, plenty to do. My current job ends this october tho, so i'd like to have it finished by then but its going to be pretty tough :) Good thing is i almost completed animation on a few scenes now and it really comes alive there, very addictive! When thats done, next week or so, im going to show the complete animation for the first time to some people. I've seen it so many times, i need some critique to be certain the back story still works. Very exciting (for me anyway). Hmm i make it sound like its an entire movie, haha its only 4 min. long :P |
Just makes me realise how much work went into Avatar :D
Sounds amazing. |
Thx! Yes i've seen some of the making-off's, pretty amazing.
Would love to learn about their workflow etc. Anyway, progress is going well on my animation. I started on the details, also got some sound done (all of the talking). Never did much work on sound so it was quite a challenge getting lines and words from the film adjusted for the animation. Wish they talked more in the movie haha. Hopefully it will be good enough, its already better then i expected tho :) Before i start working on the inbetweens and things get more complicated, feedback on the clip (her movement) is appreciated :) The clip is not the final render, this is why she's white and without hair, etc. |
Cool! :D

Hey all,
Time for a little update, still busy here! I now have an animation from begin to end with voices. Its finally starting to look like something. But i dont want to show the whole thing yet until im atleast a little further in detail etc. Right now i'm adding detail to all the earlier scenes, fingers tail, lipsync, etc. Here's an update of the clip i showed ealier. Hope you like it :) |
