Prometheus
So two new trailers, personally I think the UK one is better, but DAMN if I am not excited for this movie now.

Looks pretty good! I like Charlize Theron too :D
I am getting annoyed by all the trailers nowadays though. They seem to put out about a hundred before the actual release all with the same dialogue and scenes in a different order... This has happened especially with Game of Thrones season 2 I do love a good trailer though :P |
I've been excited about this for a while, but I was disappointed when it was revealed that it won't be an origin story for the Xenomorphs.
I'm curious about the Space Jockeys too, but this was such a great opportunity to explain where the xenos came from... |
 This is the first I've heard of this, looks good! And, I think it would be a real challenge to make a whole movie about the origin of xenos and still make it interesting and relatable to the general public.

As a massive fan of the Alien series, i'm looking forward to this one a hell of a lot. Should be a good watch, to say the least.
I'm amazed Ridley is still film-making as well, espeically considering he's what, in his mid-70s now? Either he has a hell of a lot of patience, dedication, or he really likes what he does. Maybe all three. ;) |
I have to say this looks good, and I'm normally very critical of the 'ancient aliens' -type things and similar woo, although it is just a film, I guess.
Still, I'll see it :) |
It looks amazing. Can't wait :)

Will be branded as a heretic for saying this BUT:
Ridley Scott coming into "work" on Avatar 2 would be freaking AWESOME. As would well...and entire reboot with only Scott at the helm. That would be utterly insane. |
It looked amazing, so it was amazing. Well, when I say amazing, I really mean it didn't disappoint but there was no beating the hype and thrill of The Avengers.
Anyway, the film doesn't throw everything you wanted to get from a Aliens prequel, but just enough to make you try and put the pieces together yourself. Scott did leave a little room for a sequel towards the end but I'm not sure if that's skewing too large a tangent from the original story, who knows. Great film regardless. |
It was awesome

Saw it yesterday in IMAX 3D and it was pretty impressive. The main part of the story was intresting.
At the end: NOW I KNOW WHERE THE XENOS CAME FROM! After I came home, I watched the original Alien. XD Now I'm even more exeited for Aliens Colonial Marines coming next year. Just need to save up for my PS3 or 360. |
Saw Prometheus a bunch of times, completely forgot this thread was here so I've been gushing about it in IRC. The first time I saw it, I was actually really disappointed, even to the point that I told everyone not to go see it unless they like movies with no logical progression at all. That's the way I am usually, can't stand it when **** happens for no reason. Well, with my awesome expectations for a hard scifi movie dashed, I decided to watch it again, and realized if I think of it in more of a scifi/fantasy sort of way, it is incredible and I love it :xD: This has happened a few times before. Sometimes, if I rewatch a wacky movie and don't try to figure everything out the whole time, I like it in a dimension I never considered the first time. More than that, I really want a sequel now. Think about it! As good as Prometheus was, what would a sequel consist of?
Spoiler: Answer
Also, I'm guessing you guys have seen this, but I hadn't seen it until a couple days ago: |
|
I guess I never posted here about it...
I really didn't like it. I should have guessed as much with "hurr ancient aliens durrrr", but, without spoilers, I was sitting there, going "THAT's the ending?! WTF.". Worst new film I've seen since that Abrams thing. |
I tried to get my samsung 51" 3D tv to show that preview in 3D but failed. Anyways, I did see the movie in the theater via closed captioning and it was quite good. It could've been alot better but I was satisfied with what was produced. The ending left me going "hmm...wtf".....but hopefully we see more of this in the near future.

I know, I was being sarcastic, but it would be kind of nuts for someone to make a movie about that.

I think the film was good in a sort of gloomy way. It was quite captivating in its doomsdayllike atmosphere. If there will be a sequel I think (based on the end of the movie) it will distance itself further from the "Alien" concept and become even more of an independent story.
In the movie we can see a sort of RDA like company, Weyland inustries. As a spin off from the movie we can now look at this companies own site: https://www.weylandindustries.com/ The company has made some interesting inventions, among them the flying laser scanner orb that helps the Promethues team to explore the caves in the movie. The orb is called the spectagraph: Spectagraph - Weyland-Yutani corporation Wiki |
By the way, here is some information about the real life "spectagraphs" that exists already today.

Interesting link :), although this isn't even particularly new, they've been used in ruins and confined spaces for over a decade, even if they've certainly comer a long way since in sophistication.
I'd honestly not be interested in a sequel to Prometheus though, I think... sometimes it just isn't possible to come back from an ending :(. |
