The Hunger Games

Just watched it today. I think it was beautifully done. I finished the book the week before realiease and my family finished the book years before. My mom and sister are complete nuts about it. Are you a nut of the hunger games too? I wouldn't say I'm a nut but I'm definatly intrested in the seires. Next up for me: Catching fire.

I'd certainly like to see it, but there are so many movies I'd like to see right now. Might have to wait until DVD release.

Meh.

Read the plot of all three books on wikipedia.

Not terribly impressed...kind of a bland "revolution against corrupt governments" story in a post-apocalyptic world.

I did think that the story as a whole was an interesting parallel to the way things are getting in the real world regarding corrupt governments, but the story itself was unimaginative and the ending was anticlimatic and confusing.

The film just looks like a cheap Battle Royale rip off, I Would still watch it, I just feel that it is just a CGI upgrade of Battle Royale.

Moco Loco 03-26-2012 03:25 PM

undeadboy, that's actually exactly what I was thinking, but didn't want to say that to anyone as I have limited knowledge of The Hunger Games (since I intend to watch it eventually and am not about to read the books, sorry).

I can't say much since i have to wait till it comes out on blue ray so I can watch it captioned. My mother read all the books and said I will LOVE this so I actually look forward to it. Besides, seeing a hot female shooting a bow n arrow is sexy IMO......(think: Avatar). LOL

I thought my local AMC theater would show it in captioning but they are still running the boring Lorax movie CC.

Bleh.....

A friend said that I would probably like it so I went to see it a little after it came out. I liked it enough that I bought and read the book in 3 sittings. And finished the other two books soon after. The book was better than the movie. But most are like that. But the movie was great either way, I had thought about going and seeing it again but never did.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've read all three books. The basic theme is familiar, but I really enjoyed reading them and thought that they were well written.

The books were great, the movie was meh. Its hard to translate a story told in first person to a movie.

neytiri1107 10-01-2012 11:13 PM

yeah it kind of is and the movie wasn't as gruesome as the book the book was better , i watched the movie and then read the book and then watched the movie again and i understood it more the second timehttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0A9S0OrESm...1600/funny.png

I loved the movie. It exceeded my expectations. It is my movie of the year for 2012. Joint top with Sucker Punch for movies I watched first time in 2012.

I am now half way through the book. So far the movie seems a very faithful adaption of novel. Where there are changes, so far I prefer the treatment in the movie. But the book is useful because it fills in some detail that was missed in the movie.

For those new to THG, I would recommend the movie first without looking at spoilers or reading anything about the book series. The movie is actually less predictable and more tense if you haven't read the book or are aware of the story.

this THG 12 deleted scenes video just hit youtube today, wow. i hope they eventually release some kind of THG Extended Special Edition with a lot of these scenes in the fan-service edition. i always wanted to see more of the tribute interviews, more of Katniss and Rue, a lot of these little extra parts would've made the film even better. i think that last scene was part of Catching Fire though, because Katniss didn't know his favorite color until the second book/film.

Lionsgate pulled that video on copyright violations in less than 7 hours, geez. most of the 12 scenes have been around in other videos, but always in grainy cam shots or someone taking cellphone video of their tv set, never in glorious hi-def 1080p. 10 of the 12 scenes should definitely have been left in the film, tbh.
