Av2 Delay Explained

Big updates for the Star Trek, Avatar, and Hunger Games sequels!

Not much, but at least Landau explains the delay of Av2 in more detail.

Hey, hey...I posted first!

Anyway, I am fine with this. Quality>Fast Release.

GhostTiger 04-06-2012 05:56 AM

I'm still sad it's going to take so long, but I do want the quality so I'll be quiet and wait. lol What else are we going to do?

Where is the book?! lol

Raiden 04-06-2012 06:26 AM

I've said this before, but go read some fanfics.

They can be hard to find at times, but there are some *really* great ones that don't fall into the same problems that others do.

Sometimes fan-made content is the best way to ride out things like this.

I am nervous about the whole underwater thing. Dialogue is kinda hard underwater. And then there's how well it worked out in Phantom Menace...

Both dialogue and lighting are really hard to do well underwater. I assume Cameron knows what he's doing, so he probably has a way around it.

Also, there is the crew's reaction to what happened last time Cameron filmed underwater. I believe you can still see t-shirts floating around that say, "You don't scare me - I've worked for James Cameron." :P

^ Yeah Cameron and water don't exactly mix well.

Phantom Menace doesn't count. Anywhere. Ever.

Except Titanic, #2 largest grossing film of all time.
And that little dive JC went on last week, 3rd person to ever go to literally the bottom of the ocean, first to do it alone. In a sub he built himself.

I'd say that Cameron is quite qualified to handle underwater cinematography.

And the prospect of underwater Mo-Cap is really exciting. And not just because it's underwater Mo-Cap, but because it's then also Zero-G Mo-Cap (Without having to ride the "Vomit Comet").

"Movies make release dates; release dates don't make movies. We want to get it right." I can accept the delay thanks to these few words...you're great, Jon Landau :)

Human No More 04-07-2012 04:46 PM

Yeah, nothing really new, but still, I want the sequel to be good, so I don't mind so much.

I generally don't read fanfic because it's hard to find the one good one mixed in with the 34,534 bad/terrible ones. It's a case of Sturgeon's Law, but even more pronounced when there's no risk to making it that will filter out low quality.

There is a thread at http://www.tree-of-souls.com/fan_fic...d_fanfics.html , but it's been long-neglected and there are some there that I would certainly class as bad :P

I wasn't aware he was also a mechanical engineer. :P

really!? :P

yeah some of the fanfics I've read have been outstanding. I'll have plenty of time to now read some more...

Anyway another way to pass the time is to go outdoors and seek adventure on your own, you'll find "Avatar" in the world around us. :)

I was just joking about rushing the book. I have found some good fanfic, although I always wish they were updated too ;). Any in particular you reccomend?

So true. It's very hard to find decent quality among so many horrible little fics.
