Final Fantasy ~ ever heard of it?

Well guys, it's now my turn to pay gratitude to the game series that probably changed my life, you may (or may not) have heard of a game series called Final Fantasy, I gotta say so far it has not let me down. My all-time favourite FF game is FF3, in fact it is the very game that inspired me to draw manga and anime, I love everything about it, from the characters that are so easy to love and the storylines that are both thrilling and fun, it is THE BEST game (apart from the wii AVATAR) that I have ever played, so this one's for you.

Does it bear any resemblance to the Movie "Final Fantasy"? THAT movie, and "Artificial Intelligence", "The day the Earth stood still", and "I Robot" are the only SciFy/Social Commentary films that Ateyo and I find worthy of watching.

Lol, no.

Someone named the movie "Final Fantasy" in the hopes of getting people to watch it because they played the game. They were ridiculed for this, especially because the movie was substandard at best.

As for the topic, I happen to like the FF series quite a bit.

I also have physical copies of the first six main series games to be released in the states. ;D

My favorite ones from the main series are FF4, FF6, FF7 and FF9. I only got FF8 and the DS FF3 somewhat recently, so I have yet to play those.

Amitiri, you should try FF9. It has these really awesome cinematics for summons; they're graphically primitive by today's standards, but could look amazing if FF9 was remade for a modern console.

I absolutely love FF. I didn't think TSW was substandard at all, but that's my opinion. It certainly looked amazing for the time that it came out. FFX changed my life, and I have played all but #2 (doesn't mean I beat them all, but I have played them all XD). As one can tell from my avatar, FF will always remain with me.
Some of the greatest stories are FF.

Agh, I hated FFX.

All the monsters were just one monster and then like 8 recolored ones.

And the summons weren't as cool.

For me, FF started sucking after IX and hasn't turned itself around yet. I bought XII and couldn't get myself to play through more than 1/3 of it.

That's what I found with most people that have played FFX, which is sad to me. However, I can agree with you about FF turning itself around. FFX was a turning point, but after it, I think they started to care less about the stories and how cool they could make the game look. Then again, it was shortly after that that Square Soft and Enix came together...That may have something to do with it.

I still love FF and FF3 is the best for me, when it was still young and it's future was bright

Although, FFX has its quite emotional moments, and that also captured the minds of players... maybe that's why there are so many fan-made AMVs (Anime Music Videos) with Yuna and Tidus out there... and one song especially, coupled with the right scenes from the game, is a guarantee to make tears fall...

I like the way, the lyrics are paired with the scens in this one, especially with the lines:
"You used to captivate me by your resonating light,
now I'm bound by the life you left behind..."

You might have guessed already, which sond the lines are from - of course, it's "My Immortal" by Evanescence...

I've played FX and like the emotional bits very much... FFX-2 was more of a teenager-aimed cute action series game... spy kids sexed up, going puberty sort of thing... Paine was a cool addition to the gang though...

Wiggling bare toes, wiping tears from my eyes, after watching that video,

Oh man, that game is so awesome.

You should try emulating some of the other FF games. The ones that I said I liked are good bets, and they have a great storyline.

6,7,9 /end for me.

The actual FF movie, IMO, is the after FF7 one. Fantastic film, especially on Bluray. C: Loved FF7, actually replaying for the...seventh time now? Because my PS1 original (you know, the giant grey box?) died, so I have to go do everything again!

GO DIE, EMERALD. >:C

Indeed. FFX-2 made me go "wtf?". Paine was pretty awesome though :D

7 was okay for me...I think it's a game that has the potential to be much more absorbing if the graphics were updated.

I dunno what it was about 7 that made okay and not amazing...part of it was probably the Aeris/Aerith crap; I spent almost half the game leveling her up and she was an awesome healer/overall useful character, and then, whoops, she's gone; there goes all that exp and time you spent. Then I had to take one of the other characters and force them to be the healer instead. I would rather have just had Aeris be a dedicated healer.

After Golden Sun: The Lost Age, I don't think I'll ever enjoy another JRPG

Doesn't really matter when you have 99 Megalixers.

amitiri 04-25-2012 08:09 PM

I also have FF XII!

guyguy 05-12-2012 10:18 AM

one of my favorite series i ever played on snes/playstation/emulators!
i finished from 4 to X2, felt asleep on XII cause of the auto target, finished XIII witch was awesome visualy but lacking of freedom ( took me like 25 hours to get to a world map) and to be honest XIII-2 for me was only for the trophies
my favorite was of course the 6 but the 7 was a milestone for being the 1st on PS with kinda good graphics back then ( so is X on ps2 )
thing that i hate though is that those kind of games start to look like movies ( but at least not like the 1st Xenosaga )

Mother of the Forest 05-12-2012 04:51 PM

By looking like movies, do you mean more visual effects effort rather than storyline? Explain further your Xenosaga reference as well o=,
