How is Love Rekindled and other Fan-fics so popular?
There are over 1200 stories on Fanfiction.net and it seems the most popular one linked to ToS is Love Rekindled. How is that?
Before you make accusations, no I don't have prejudices against Homosexual stories. I'm just curious, why is that story the most popular one among the rest? |
I haven't read it, but my first assumption is that it contains a well written love story.
Love stories, like any story, can be well written no matter what the characters are. You could write a story about two fungal hyphae meeting each other underground and how they come together to form a beautiful mushroom. It doesn't really matter what it is, so long as what is going on is familiar enough to be understood by the reader. EDIT: Rainbowhawk, if you want a good Avatar story, Brave New Day is awesome. Just go read it. To be fair, the first few chapters are a little rough in places, but after that it's pretty good. |
Because it's a good story.

It's probably well written.

And it was written by one of our favorite fellows here on ToS.
Although I must admit I stopped reading it a few months back. Bad fanfic experience. I can't read any fanfiction these days. |
I'm not sure whether to be flattered or astonished.

This summer I'll read up on some fan-fics and finish my own. I'm giving it all I got and I hope my readers enjoy it. |
It really helps to write fic sooner after the original work is completed. Other than that, Love Rekindled specifically struck me as a plot I just never would've thought of ordinarily.

From that which I read of it, it was good. And what Moco said, it was different and I liked that aspect of it.
I haven't read any fan fics in a long time though. Mostly because the ones I followed just quit. I know how it is though, being I haven't updated mine for a long time. |
I originally wrote mine when everyone was still nuts about Avatar (Not saying people still aren't, but it was feverish then.) and I wrote it to try to deal with my PAD as well as letting some emotion I'd gotten built up out. I have no idea why it's popular or how I did it, I wrote it expecting to to flop to be honest. Not many "Gay Avatar Lovestories" out there that aren't just lemons.
I just gave it a go and it sorta...took off, I guess. I feel kinda lame now because I still haven't finished the thing. I look at it and all the plot threads are still in my head, but trying to write an ending to that f-ing stings. |
