Notice anything new on your last viewing of Avatar?

Have you noticed anything on your last viewing of Avatar which you didn't notice before on your last?

I have.

During several of my repeat viewings, I've always tried to learn how the movie fascinates me, or how the movie is made. During my last viewing of Avatar, I payed close attention to several scenes in the movie which went from bright to dark colors, or vice-versa. These scenes, which I believe immerse you into the film, stand out to me. Here are some samples:
  1. The first time this transition happens, it is very subtle. The quick bright-to-dark scene occurs right after we see Trudy fly in the sunset in an attempt to find Jake's avatar. During this scene, we are presented with bright yellow and orange colors, where shortly after we are taken to the next scene, which is a quick transition from bright yellow colors to dark blue colors.
  2. The second time this transition from bright to dark colors happens, it is right after Jake falls asleep on the hammock inside Hometree. We get a close-up of Jake's avatar's dark blue face, where we are then taken to the next scene, where the screen goes bright as Grace flashes a light into Jake's eyes.
  3. The last and most notable scene which shows a quick transition between bright and dark colors is Jake's jump onto Toruk's back. Very simple transition, yet very powerful and immersing. I cannot help but think "Woah..." every time.

I probably missed some of the quick transitions, so if you noticed any which I didn't mention, please share. :)

these scenes that you mention here really took me and put me in this world too, the beginning of the film is really amazing! the feel is quite great, no other film has made me feel as immersed in it as AVATAR

Yes, the beginning shot is something amazing within itself. If you pay close attention to the closing of the movie, you'll notice it's the exact same scene you saw at the beginning. It's like the movie begins to go in reverse after 80 minutes.

First, Jake wakes up in Cryo as a human. He then lands on Pandora in his human body, working for the company (RDA) and his country. Then things being to change. He starts to go against his race and the company. Before the movie ends, Jake wakes up again, though, instead of waking up as a human, he wakes up as a Na'vi in an avatar body.

Another thing that is interesting is that when we first see Jake after he wakes up from cryo, there is a blue tint on his face, foreshadowing his eventual transfer to his avatar.

Do you know what the funny thing that I noticed .. that Jake in his Avatar body, has a dark marking in the exact same spot as his mole.

Jake's cry when Turok almost chomps down on his Ikran's tail
"Yip,yip,yip!"
I smiled and started laughing for no reason.

The last 5 viewings were IMAX 3-D (a total of 11 times seeing Avatar) and last night I saw Avatar in 2-D and noticed that some scenes were cut short; when Jake was confessing his true reasons for coming to their home and saying that the Skypeople were coming to destroy Hometree, Neytiri starts to cry and say "I trusted you... I TRUSTED YOU!" then she screams something in Na'vi, but last night the scream was cut out for some reason. And also when Norms Avatar was shot, it shows his chamber open and he climbs out, but when the top of his tube was opening was cut out, it only showed him collapsing onto the ground holding his shoulder, and continuing from that scene, when he's back into the jungle of Pandora in his human body holding the assault rifle, the end of that scene was cut short as well, but also something was added in; when Neytiri shot Quartich twice and ran to Jakes lifeless Avatar body, an extra scene of Quartich gasping for breath was added in... anybody know why these scenes were added and cut?

I noticed, when watching last time in film IMAX, that many of the subtitles were missing. Especially during the destruction of HomeTree, where virtually all of Eytukan's commands are not subtitled. The part where he tells Tsu'Tey to take the ikran to attack from above, and where he tells everyone to run for the forest. Obviously I don't need the translation, but it would be helpful for new viewers.

In the beginning, when norm is talking to grace, he says mother after the word leaves the screen.

If you listen, you can understan everything Eytukan says.

I just noticed a lot of small details that I didn't before. For example, when trudy is landing the chopper in the jungle, a few small animals scatter. Little details like that that make it even more immersive.

I noticed the same slight differences between the versions. In my case, I've only seen it once in IMAX (it's a 3 hour drive to the nearest IMAX theatre that was showing Avatar), but a bunch of times ReadD 3D. There are ever so slight differences between the versions; a second here, a half a second there.

Probably only things fans like us would notice. Still, all the same, I'm glad I'm not crazy. :P

My last IMAX viewing, the subtitle for when Tsu'tey says, "Have no fear!" wasn't there.

When Jake is beating Tsu'tey up, if you look at Neytiri, she is smiling. I don't know why she would be, but she is lol.
