I would agree with that. When Seze was killed she got hopeless but then there was the scene when Tsu'tey died.

But I would say the scene that got me the most was when Neytiri called out that Eywa heard Jake's prayers. It had such a double/multiple meaning for me. Loved that part. Nature helped protect itself and helped the "good guys"- was just a great scene.

I know what you mean there... just those first shots of Pandora, they always make me tear up... :'(

*Sigh* I watched Avatar for the first time in a month last night and ball'd my eyes out (though I don't like admitting it). I just had too much emotional buildup from the month break.

The "I see you" scene really hits me towards the end...:'(

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I've always found the very beginning of the movie to be great. When I first saw Avatar, I was taken aback at how it immediately began with a distant voice and nothing accompanying it on the screen. Right from the start, we are thrust into a different world, with no warning or build-up. And then we are already flying over an alien world's treetops. I really like that very stark introduction.

I also remember at my first viewing being awed by the shot of the Venture Star in space and hearing the rolling percussion in the music, giving way to a single chord in the strings and a lone woman's voice suspended over it. To me, it's perfect for musically depicting the vast expanse of space that Jake has traveled through.

Another one - the single shot of the direhorse on fire during the battle...absolutely perfect shot. Still sends shivers down my spine.

And though it's been mentioned before, I cannot ignore it - the scene with Jake and Neytiri in the shack at the end, it's great on so many levels...

Probably the Tree of Voices scene. Everything about it is just so perfect. When I watch it, it's like someone punched me in the soul. I die a little everytime. :'(

I think the most emotional scenes for me are probably;
-When Jake runs for the first time in his Avatar
-When we see Neytiri riding her Ikran for the first time (the 'when you are ready scene) - for some strange reason, this part always makes me cry:(
-Jakes first flight
-The mating scene
-Destruction of Hometree, of course
-When Neytiri saves the human Jake
-When Grace dies :'(
-When Seze dies
and lots&lots more (:

However, the last time i watched it (the first time in about 2 months) every single scene hit me really really hard. It was wierd - even in the opening shots of the forest i had tears streaming down my face. I usually only cry 3 or 4 times during the movie, but this time i couldn't stop. :S

See I've heard multiple stories of people getting emotional at the beginning with the soaring over the Pandoran trees. Could someone please explain why? Not calling anyone out, but I just would like to know the reason why it emotionally strikes you. For some reason it didn't strike me...:S

Tbh i'm not really sure.. it was kinda strange:S I guess it might have been the fact it felt like i was 'returning home' - as corny as that sounds. I was just so happy to be in Pandora again after like 2 months.

I felt like that once too when I went to see it at a theater. I didn't really tear up, I just had this huge grin on my face, knowing I was seeing the movie again. I must have looked pretty stupid to anyone who was watching me but I couldn't help myself. :gtongue:

For me I cry... beginning to end. As soon as that bass drops and the vocals slowly fade in, and Jakes voice comes over, I start shivering up and tearing up. I think its just the whole movie has such a connection with my heart and soul, just seeing the movie which gave me spectacular memories, a life changing experience, the feeling of being free flying over Pandora, just strikes me. Jake doesn't know what he's getting into, how this will be the most life changing event of his life...

The scene that always hits me most is the very end scene, when Jake transfers into his avatar body completely. It's just so beautiful, the unity between the clan, the pure love emanating from Neytiri, and the glorious colours that make the whole scene glow.
Then, when Jake opens his eyes, I just...tear up. I don't know why exactly. Because of the pure happiness of the final scene, that he finally gets to be at peace in his new found home?...or simply because it's over? Probably a mixture of the two. The music also really affects me, and when it fades into 'I see you' and I then "snap back to reality" (if you will) I just experience an overwhleming surge of emotions.

Obviously many of the other scenes affect me too, such as the destruction of hometree, grace's death, then Seze's, Trudy's and Tsu'tey's death...and the final 'I see you' scene. Not only are these scenes very emotional, but the music really affects me also. For example; the music that plays at the end of hometree's destruction, and the woman starts singing, then you see the pure devastation amongst the omaticaya, and the heartbreak in Neytiri's heart and, well...it hits me everytime.

Human No More 07-05-2010 09:07 PM

Definitely... That last scene, it affects me so strongly, I just sit there all through the credits, I just can't get up at all, I've described it before, it's like I actually have to force myself back into the world :( , if I didn't then my mind would just stay on Pandora.

Hunter of the Glade 07-05-2010 10:40 PM

Yeah usually by the time the credits roll and "I See You" is playing in the background I'm pretty much done for. :'(

Favorite moments (or at least, most memorable)-
The first 30 seconds

Jake Running

The whole "Becoming one of the people" sequence

"you've got one hour"

Right after the destruction of hometree (sad, sad, sad)

WAR (first part)

And the Last 5 minutes
