After the roller coaster ride that was the movie, I couldn't have scripted a better ending myself. :P |
For me the two most intense scenes are so close together you could almost call them one.
1 -> Moat crying out in shock and horror at the sight of the devastation of their home. 2 -> Eytukan's death/Neytiri's grief. just as intense but not as uncomfortable is: "Eywa has heard you!" "I see you" "I was afraid for my people. I'm not anymore" |

The destruction of the hometree.. such an horrible act of violence.. it was quite devastating to watch...
and for "hitting the hardest" in positive way.. When Neytiri saved jake in the end when he nearly suffocated - The i see you part.. very moving :) The whole movie is full of awesomness :) |
I think the hardest moment for me was when Seze was killed...
Neytiri just kind of hardened up after that.... And was going to sacrifice herself... As long as a few humans were coming too.... |

But I would say the scene that got me the most was when Neytiri called out that Eywa heard Jake's prayers. It had such a double/multiple meaning for me. Loved that part. Nature helped protect itself and helped the "good guys"- was just a great scene. |
I know what you mean there... just those first shots of Pandora, they always make me tear up... :'(
|
*Sigh* I watched Avatar for the first time in a month last night and ball'd my eyes out (though I don't like admitting it). I just had too much emotional buildup from the month break.
The "I see you" scene really hits me towards the end...:'( |
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I've always found the very beginning of the movie to be great. When I first saw Avatar, I was taken aback at how it immediately began with a distant voice and nothing accompanying it on the screen. Right from the start, we are thrust into a different world, with no warning or build-up. And then we are already flying over an alien world's treetops. I really like that very stark introduction.
I also remember at my first viewing being awed by the shot of the Venture Star in space and hearing the rolling percussion in the music, giving way to a single chord in the strings and a lone woman's voice suspended over it. To me, it's perfect for musically depicting the vast expanse of space that Jake has traveled through. Another one - the single shot of the direhorse on fire during the battle...absolutely perfect shot. Still sends shivers down my spine. And though it's been mentioned before, I cannot ignore it - the scene with Jake and Neytiri in the shack at the end, it's great on so many levels... |
Probably the Tree of Voices scene. Everything about it is just so perfect. When I watch it, it's like someone punched me in the soul. I die a little everytime. :'(
|
I think the most emotional scenes for me are probably;
-When Jake runs for the first time in his Avatar -When we see Neytiri riding her Ikran for the first time (the 'when you are ready scene) - for some strange reason, this part always makes me cry:( -Jakes first flight -The mating scene -Destruction of Hometree, of course -When Neytiri saves the human Jake -When Grace dies :'( -When Seze dies and lots&lots more (: However, the last time i watched it (the first time in about 2 months) every single scene hit me really really hard. It was wierd - even in the opening shots of the forest i had tears streaming down my face. I usually only cry 3 or 4 times during the movie, but this time i couldn't stop. :S |
See I've heard multiple stories of people getting emotional at the beginning with the soaring over the Pandoran trees. Could someone please explain why? Not calling anyone out, but I just would like to know the reason why it emotionally strikes you. For some reason it didn't strike me...:S

The scene that always hits me most is the very end scene, when Jake transfers into his avatar body completely. It's just so beautiful, the unity between the clan, the pure love emanating from Neytiri, and the glorious colours that make the whole scene glow.
Then, when Jake opens his eyes, I just...tear up. I don't know why exactly. Because of the pure happiness of the final scene, that he finally gets to be at peace in his new found home?...or simply because it's over? Probably a mixture of the two. The music also really affects me, and when it fades into 'I see you' and I then "snap back to reality" (if you will) I just experience an overwhleming surge of emotions. Obviously many of the other scenes affect me too, such as the destruction of hometree, grace's death, then Seze's, Trudy's and Tsu'tey's death...and the final 'I see you' scene. Not only are these scenes very emotional, but the music really affects me also. For example; the music that plays at the end of hometree's destruction, and the woman starts singing, then you see the pure devastation amongst the omaticaya, and the heartbreak in Neytiri's heart and, well...it hits me everytime. |
Definitely... That last scene, it affects me so strongly, I just sit there all through the credits, I just can't get up at all, I've described it before, it's like I actually have to force myself back into the world :( , if I didn't then my mind would just stay on Pandora.
|
Yeah usually by the time the credits roll and "I See You" is playing in the background I'm pretty much done for. :'(
|
Favorite moments (or at least, most memorable)-
The first 30 seconds Jake Running The whole "Becoming one of the people" sequence "you've got one hour" Right after the destruction of hometree (sad, sad, sad) WAR (first part) And the Last 5 minutes |
I think when Jake is walking up to the tree as Toruk Makto and his greeting with Neytiri.
You know they just want to fall into each other but they can't because of the situation. It's one of those wordless emotion scenes that gets me. The other is after he wakes up and is walking through the ashes of the burned forest. He is so, so very dejected and guilt-ridden at what he caused. Also when he's talking to Eywa at the tree, he knows how much loss there's going to be and desperately wants to try and cut their losses as much as possible. (Catholic symbolism moment there too, a Garden of Gethsemene scene... just realized that.) When he and Neytiri touch heads, they breath in each others breath.... wordless and beautiful. |
Three scenes struck me the most;
1) when Jakesully becomes a member of the Omatikaya, as the the camera pans back and you see everyone (even Tsu'tey) lay on hands as a gesture of admittance and position 2) When Jake and Neytiri finally meet in their real forms, and despite being a Sky Person, she see and truly loves the soul that he is 3) When Jake comes landing in at the Tree of souls as Toruk Makto, where I could just hear him in my mind saying "I am the BADDEST Mo Fo on ALL Pandora" That was cool |
What Scenes hit me hardest!
1-The Seeds land on Jake as a sign from Eywah
2-Navi welcome Jake as part of the tribe 3-The Arrival/Speech of Toruk Makto 4-Swaying of Navi during prayer at Tree of Souls (helping Grace) 5-Riding to the four winds to gather the tribes |
It didn't hit me as hard at first, but the last couple times I've watched the movie this part has seared right through me:
"You will never be one of The People!" |
There are so many scenes that hit me hard, especially the scenes with epic backgound music like "Shutting down Grace's Lab" or "Destruction of Hometree".
But the scene which hit me always I watch the movie is the "I see You" scene at the end. I can't explain why, but how she holds his human body and his hand on her face is so amazingly beautiful that I always cry. "Jake, ma Jake..." :'(:( |
I know exactly how you feel... :'(
|
One thing that caught me offguard tho was when the animals are all attacking the RDa troops, and the thanator turns to Neytiri and growls. I first thought that, "here she is, survivng a gun battle, only to be killed by the wildlife", not expecting it to INVITE HER TO RIDE HIM! Kaltxi palulukan!!
|
When Jake is first brought to Hometree, & we see the Omaticaya clan. A civilization -young & older -familes, living & surviving on this plausible world (moon) of Pandora. It reminds me that one day us humans will find not just life & primitive life on exoplanets or the cosmos in general, but intelligent life that evolved & exist.
Oh, & other scenes roll with the rest of you- * The fall of Hometree & the Omaticaya in shock & upset. * "Eywa has heard you" scream from Neytiri, as the Ikran fly down from above. |
I remember myself first thinkinh "oh wow" as we got to see Pandora, and then "I LOVE this movie" when Jake becomes Omatikaya, but when Jake becomes Toruk Makto and drops in on the stunned Na'vi, I was shouting for him "Oh yah, I am the BADDEST Mother ****er on allllll Pandora!"
|
1) Destruction of home tree
2) Scenes right after the destruction of Hometree 3) Tsu'tey's death scene all 3 of these have almost gotten me to cry |
jake and neytiri admitting their feelings for one another :D
|
That is a TOUGH question to answer. To be honest, the whole thing. Sorry that I can't give an individual scene or two. That's a hard question.
|
1. tsu'tey death scene made me cry, i still do
2. the "i see you" scene in the link chamber makes me sober 3. destruction of the hometree... |
1. The destruction of Hometree. Seeing Neytiri lose her home, father and lover in less than a day and hearing her in so much pain :'(
2. Mating scene. The beauty of this is too much to bear and every time I see it, I wish I could be Jake. 3. The 'I See You' scene. After all they've gone through together they finally see each other and we know they are totally in love. You come away feeling warm and fuzzy knowing eveything is going to be ok :) |
After the CE viewing, i'd have to say the scene between Grace and Jake about the school...
That really had me hurting inside. Although there wasn't a flashback bit or anything, there needed not be any pictures to accompany those words. :'( |
That part made me cry, even just the first scene at the school :'(
Stupid skypeople... |
