If I could go back and experience it again for the first time, I would...but then I would want to jump straight back to the present day.

The fantastic thing about seeing Avatar for the first time is that you're truly in Jake's shoes - he's seeing Pandora for the first time as well, and the awe of discovery and exploration is completely fresh. That's what I would want to re-experience, and that's what I look forward to the most regarding the sequel (provided there will indeed be new environments).

What I wouldn't want to do is re-face the question "Where do I go from here?" that I asked myself in the initial shake-up. Who knows if the journey from there 'til now would be the same for me? It hasn't been a smooth one, but I've gained many valuable experiences, lessons, and friendships nonetheless (and a significant amount of those things have come through this site).

Yes, I would go back, although I wouldn't change anything.

I went to watch Avatar with no knowledge of it or its content apart from vague media hints about an unparalleled technical achievement. My word but did I ever get a shock... a cinematographic experience that reawakened a part of myself that I had thought modern society had killed, buried and covered with a generic concrete monstrosity. I came out of the theatre having laughed, cried and Seen.

But I would also go back for other, more selfish and less enlightened reasons. Considering the events that have taken place since that day? I would go back to before their advent. Happily. These last couple of years have seen the deaths of at least one dear friend (who died far too early and left a young husband and two young boys) as well as family members as well as (seemingly) my last hope of achieving my dream career after 12 years of striving for it.

It isn't a healthy thing to say, but if I could return to that day in a time machine and maybe just stay there for a while.... I would like that. :shy:

I agree, I mean if we had to relive everything from our first viewing of Avatar to now, some of us would be looking at going back to the end of 2009 and then getting through almost 3 years. That could mean redoing assignments, projects, and work as well as going through any ups and downs again. I'd prefer a return trip rather than a one way trip back in time.

I hope that too, especially if we see underwater environments and such in the next movie. I think living the experience through Jake in the first film and being able to relate to him in a way as he explores Pandora and meet the Omaticaya is what helped to give Avatar such an impact on us.

Sounds like dear old dad needs to be catheterized when he goes out in public. THAT way, HE doesn't miss half of a movie either,

Exactly, on both of those things. I wouldn't want to go back to all those school assignments either. :stare:

I can see what you're saying with the whole, 'experience then jump back thing'. I say I'd live it all again to show how much it means to me and what i'm willing to go through to go through it all again =^-^= everyone has awesome answers!

I wouldn't because I've gained so much as a result of it that I don't want to lose :). Also, I was in a bad situation with myself at the time and something of an emotional mess even without Avatar, which brought all that to the front.

If I could go back in time and do it all over again, I would see Avatar for the first time in a different theater. The first time I saw Avatar, it was from a seat with a partially obstructed view. That was the last time I went to that theater and from then on I went to a..... I'd like to say much nicer, but in truth I'll say a slightly nicer theater that isn't as heavily traffic'd and charge a full dollar less for 3d tickets.

When I have thought about this, it's usually because I wished I could go back and decide to do something else that day. I know I would've eventually ended up seeing it though, so there's no point in thinking that way when wishing it never happened. Most of the time, I wouldn't change anything about it, so as a final answer, "no, I would not change anything" :) Theater was good, liked everything I ate that day, and I like the way things are now.

Yeah, this is very true... I always planned to see it at some point, the day wouldn't have mattered so much. Honestly, the second time was more powerful emotionally, I think, as I was needing it before seeing it, which wasn't true for the first :P
