Bye Forums

Ive made up my mind, Ive been considering it for ages. I dont really feel part of it anymore, I truly dont feel like a member of the community. Thanks for all the love you have shared, there are more important people here. I have had my run, and all this is merely a dream. I might come back if I change my mind, but its not looking good, I have bled avatar dry and these forums too.

I'm lost, I am really conflicted but it is best if I leave. There are new users everyday and i'm sure they can cover for me.

This quote from my good friend says things better than me, "Nothings over while im breathing", well Im lost on pandora without my exo pack.

Its been fun, too fun.

Helicoradian 03-25-2010 10:03 PM

Don't! You're a key piece in here. Take a break, come on.

Woodsprite 03-25-2010 10:46 PM

I kinda know how you feel, and I've been considering it too. Have a good life, CMQ (oh! have I made a rhyme?). :) We'll miss you, but I do understand your reasons, because I'm starting to feel the same.

...Just one thing stopping me, though.

Woody, don't ever think about it.... please. Really, I mean it. :(

Vauktu 03-25-2010 10:52 PM

It's sad to see you go, Colonel. You've been around on ToS and AF for a very long time, and I'm sure many members here have enjoyed your company. If you ever decide to come back, I'll welcome you with open arms.

Cyan 03-25-2010 10:54 PM

I dont want to influence others to leave too :(

Don't leave then! :( But I understand, its just hard to sit here and watch all the higher ups start leaving...

Cyan 03-25-2010 11:10 PM

I dont feel theres anything else left here for me, I have what I needed. But, can one really change decisions and cheat those who have saddened themselves over it.

Lol, you're not influencing me. ;) I've just been feeling this way for a while, now, and it's surprising to see someone leaving for the same reasons as I, and not because of anything that's happened on the forums recently (like most others).

But like I said, I'm not leaving... not for a while, at least. :)

rapunzel77 03-25-2010 11:17 PM

Colonel, please don't go. You have been with these forums for a while and you are a key part. Take a break. That is fine but please don't leave us.

Woodsprite: you always give insightful posts and I'd hate to see you go too :(.

Colonel, please reconsider.

If your only reason for leaving is because you simply have no interest, then that's not much of a reason at all, really. There's no reason to "quit" - simply come here when you have nothing to do. :)

Thats not the reason if you look back.

rapunzel77 03-25-2010 11:40 PM

Colonel: I think that this forum is becoming more than just an Avatar forum. We all love the movie and we have talked about it in its smallest detail (at least until the DVD/Blu-ray comes out) on the AF and on TOS. What I am seeing, and this is in part why the TOS formed I think is that it is becoming a forum of friendship and support. Just look at some of the posts that have recently been posted on the Off Topic forum and at least on in the General Avatar forum.

It has come to the point where several of us trust one another enough to pour out our thoughts and feelings, share opinions, and our lives. This is a network of friends who have come together because of one movie. I think that is what is special about it. I think that is also why it saddens us when one of our members leave :(.

We will respect your decision. I know I will but please reconsider.

Apollo 03-25-2010 11:41 PM

Damnit.. why bro? Why? I understand if you bled it dry, but do you do anything outside of A-related forums? Like games maybe? It would be fun to play with you. You have your reasons for leaving but it was an honor knowing you regardless. I always thought that name of yours was superior in a sense, the character being a massive involvement into it. You presented and represented yourself well with such high esteem. Out of every experience, there needs to be a benchmark or a landmark that made this chapter of your life very recognizable when compared to the many other sheraides you may have and will experience. How you take this is up to you my friend:

Why do we join things like these? How do we come together and make ourselves an identity parallel to our own, already existing one? The answer is within you, but the main factor is that it changed you in some way, for better or for worse (mostly for better, but the people who have a bad case of a movie might join the thread to seek advice from like-minded people. They feel very bad inside and seek the remedy). You must of joined this community because Avatar changed you, and I can bet it changed you more than you bargained for. For the better sake of yourself and to the others around you. I have my own reasons for loving this world and the people in it, but the community that it has brought together isn't entirely bonded by a movie's appeal alone, it is the feelings conveyed in the community that binds us together as one. This community is a marvel of your creation, but that isn't what's important; I fear Pandora has left you and will never come back.

Over exposure to something destroys it's novelty. So much so, being over-immersed can lead to a nasty headache and a bad thought on your mind. Being a big name, you did big things and made big things happen by yourself. Your going to move on now, away from all of this. We have our outlets here in the community that inspire us to keep on living here on the forums. When all outlets are severed, there is no point in holding onto a lost cause. Doing something you don't want to do is the worst thing you can do. Everyone here may want you to stay, but you have to make this decision for yourself without any pressure from anyone. Know that people care for you here, but you must count yourself first. Being selfless and coming onto the forums just for maintenance sake and the ability to listen to the people is all were kind of demanding from you in the means of staying. But this is your choice. Please do tell me what you think.

Here are my alias and usernames if your interested in having a big buddy in games:

I really do want a reply my friend. Ewya nghau, truely. Goodbye :'(

Oh, Rapunzel, ma tsmuké...oel ngati kameie. Your words above are EXACTLY what I've been thinking this past week or so, as I've seen different members of our family laying bare their souls and emotions in their posts, with no reservations, and no fear of reprisals or being ridiculed. The courage it took for that kind of catharsis is mirrored in our acceptance of each and every one here, and our willingness to come forward and embrace those who need comfort.

That said, I know you have your reasons for leaving, Colonel, but we would welcome you back with open arms when you decide to return.

With affection from one of your sisters here at the Tree of Souls,
Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn :). There is only one thing I would like to change and that is for us to freely express ourselves, even our most deeply held beliefs even though they will be different from each other :). I think we can do that. To be totally free. We are getting there, I think. At least, I hope.

Aaaaaand that would be me, having handcuffed myself to you and myself to a fixture on the wall.

You ain't goin' NOWHERE...nuh-uh...not while I'm breathin'.

Yeah, I hope that Woodsprite doesn't leave either. This is such a good group that it is sad to see anyone go.

Btw, is there a hint of something else going on here? :)

Rapunzel, if you could hear Woody's impersonations of the Colonel on Skype, you'd understand why I handcuffed myself to him.

(*Na'vi taw'ite starts laughing*)

I'm just kidding. Woody's just the OTHER unrepentant night owl I run into on Skype, and he can mix music like it ain't no thang. Most of all, though, his eloquence has left an indelible impression on me; it's THAT quality that I appreciate about him above all else.

aww, thats good :). I probably don't have the time to go on Skype. That is why I do all my posting on the forum. It sounds like you have a lot of fun on there though :).

Human No More 03-26-2010 12:27 AM

I still hope I'll see you back soon...

Don't go :'(

Huurraaa 03-26-2010 12:28 AM

I don't see the point of "leaving" or "never visiting" a website...unless you are sad whenever you come here...? If not, then come on man, so many people like you here. Come back occasionally to say hi.

allycat 03-26-2010 12:32 AM

you're leaving?? aww :( we will all miss you.. especially the fangirls :)

Gunny 03-26-2010 01:16 AM

Okay, all these people leaving are starting to piss me off. This is going to probably be a decently long read, bluntly written, and somewhat rude. If this turns you off than just don't read.

Firstly, to the guys who have left, or have thought about leaving due to drama. You are being so childish doing this. All you do when leaving is give the "enemy what they want", and leaving a website from difference of opinion over the INTERNET is ludicrous! Ignore the stupid people, thats what you do in real life is it not? You dont just move towns because of one or a few people do you?

Now for you Colonel. I love your posts, what you bring to this forum, your wonderful insights on things, but seriously? You are going to leave because you feel you have talked about Avatar to much? Run out of things Avatar related to talk about? So what, are you really going to leave over something so trivial? If you read the posts in this thread it is obvious that this community adores you, we have a great respect for you, and do not want you to leave. Here is something to think about, any forum has a specific topic, however I understand that you can always become "drained" of the topic, but this is what the off topic forum is for! When you make friends like we have here why leave them all? Take a break if you want, you are going on a trip so use that to clear your mind. When you come here though you dont need to talk about nothing but Avatar, you can discuss anything!

Colonel, with your friends in real life, when you start running out of things to talk about on a certain subject do you just pick everything up a leave? No, you likely change the subject to something else interesting, why not do that here? Why leave all your friends, does the thought not sadden you? As someone else said, unless coming here makes you depressed than maybe I see your point.

I will ultimately respect any desicion you choose to make, however, making a move like this will also change the way I have viewed you since I first met you. As it did with the other users that have left. I apologize if this has offended anyone, but I am tired of just sitting back with my mouth shut.

I wish you the best,
John M.

@ the Colonel

After standing up for the wrongdoings in regards to AF and being part of the group who spearheaded the creation of this place, but then just leaving so soon would mean all that work and effort was in vain?

@ anyone else thinking about leaving.

Unless you actually no longer like Avatar anymore, don't you think after investing so much of yourself into your love of Avatar as well as the community at large, would amount to a tremendous waste of your time and effort by just leaving?

Spock 03-26-2010 04:52 AM

If you leave then I may as well leave too. But I have some political and therapuetic reasons for staying also.

Well, if you must go, then I will say thankyou, it has been an honour.

Spock

Ggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zongtseng 03-26-2010 05:36 AM

You will be missed, but I can't really say I understand it. For me, if I didn't have a place to come and read and talk about Avatar, I don't know what I would do. It's still consuming me, more than 2 months after I saw the movie for the first time.

Stanley_9875 03-26-2010 06:15 AM

Colonel; please reconsider. You are an amazing person and you cannot be replaced. My heart sank wheni read your post; please please please don't go. Take a break for a week then come back.

Oel ngati kameie, ma tsmuké. Truly. This is not just a forum about Avatar, it's something much, much more big and important than that. This is a place where like-minded people can meet and discuss about everything, this is like a SECOND FAMILY to me. I don't want my family to break up! :'(

I approve every single word, Gunny. The "drama" that happened between us and AF caused much distress, much more than the whole thing deserves. If someone on the other side keeps on pissing you off because of what you did... then just ignore him. Quitting here is just like to give them what they want.

Exactly. We are a community, a family as I said above. We can discuss about anything, not just about Avatar. Having nothing to say about this wonderful movie doesn't mean you have to go away from all your friends!

Colonel, Woody, and anyone here who feels like going away from all of this: please, I beg you, think twice before doing so. :'(

Andrea

This is entirely your decision and I respect that.
However, this place won't be the same anymore.
