Disney Buys Lucasfilm: Star Wars Episode 7 slated for 2015

So yeah....that's pretty much all we got for now. Discuss.

Also Avatar 2 Vs Episode 7 is going to be a slugging match for the ages.

iron_jones 10-30-2012 10:36 PM

Why can't they just stop? There's already six. Three of them were good. Three were ****. Just leave Star Wars be.

Clarke 10-30-2012 11:05 PM

BBC News - Disney buys Star Wars maker Lucasfilm from George Lucas

Also, as I commented on Facebook, there's no ego-waving contests going on at all. Really. :P

Isard 10-31-2012 03:19 AM

This is either the greatest thing to Star Wars ever or the second worse thing ever.

I know man, nothing is more awful than A New Hope.

Cyvaris 10-31-2012 11:45 AM

I am torn. Part of me wants to say this is great and point out that Avengers and Tron:Legacy were far above what I was expecting. The other part of me just wants to cry.

Ohh and Lucas is writing/has written the basic script/outline....so yeah this is gonna suck.

As long as he doesn't destroy the expanded universe I'm be ok with it.
It he does junk years of work, get the touches and pitch forks

Human No More 11-02-2012 06:57 PM

It's Disney. I just wonder if this means the new SW film will be Disneyfied or not...

Clarke 11-02-2012 08:45 PM

Probably not. Remember that Disney also owns Marvel and Tombstone. Theirs is hardly what you'd call "Disneyfied" :P

Stanley_9875 11-04-2012 06:13 PM

Its like whenever a movie looks like its going to be good, then it says, "Disney presents..." I dont bother with it xD

SaphirJD 11-06-2012 05:40 PM

Disney... hmm... i wonder if that works :D

Will somebody just GIVE THAT MAN A ****ING COLORING BOOK ALREADY so he can stop destroying my hopes and dreams?

Most people by now would have had the decency to kill themselves.
But apparently some people...

I think Lucas should be ignored. Prequels? What prequels?

applejuice 11-10-2012 10:22 PM

And Avatar was going to belong to Disney, luckily, FOX stopped such atrocity.

Spock 11-11-2012 10:14 PM

I would love the Expanded Universe to be explored. Lucas though? I would rather see Ronald McDonald writing scripts.

Another Star Wars trilogy should be true to the expanded universe and carry more maturity than the prequels did (but this is Disney after all). Maybe Ridley Scott or even JJ Abrams in the directors seat.

StarWars.com | Michael Arndt to Write Screenplay for Star Wars: Episode VII

applejuice 11-11-2012 10:49 PM

Hmmm... perhaps they will, actually, make something right????
Time will tell. I just hope there won't be any reboot, at least concerning episodes IV - VI.

I'm still half convinced that was just an idle threat; Disney wouldn't like the plot/message, and it's definitely not 'child friendly' enough, but they do have the money to have made it, and other companies JC was interested in seriously dealing with would have known that, so it puts more cards in JC's hands negotiation-wise; remember he got fox to make huge concessions when they wanted the message toned down, he refused, and they still accepted.

Er... Disney produced Pocahontas and funded Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They don't care about either of those things necessarily. :P

As if they did not "disnify" Star Wars Episode I enough already...

txim_asawl 11-14-2012 08:19 PM

Well, with Michael "Toy Story 3" Arndt writing the screenplay, we might even see Buzz Lightyear becoming the new Sith Lord.

Oh this is going to be the Happy Empire...

Human No More 11-15-2012 01:48 AM

OK, maybe Disney Star Wars won't be so bad after all based on that video :P

Cyvaris 11-16-2012 02:15 AM

So Arndt is writing...that makes me feel all sorts of feelings I can't describe. I think...I think I am happy. That, that does not feel right in regards to Star Wars AT ALL.

Also...Disney buying Avatar, does this mean the Avatar part of Animal Kingdom is not happening? I want to see spinny lizard things and glowing trees in a Disney park darn it!

Moco Loco 11-16-2012 11:33 AM

Cyvaris, I know you're probably joking, but :P I wanted that. I'd rather they try and fail than not try at all. I'd rather potentially get a badass section of Disney with Avatar stuff in it.

Cyvaris 11-16-2012 10:04 PM

^ I wanted it to actually. Many since it would mean a meetup would have to happen there. Being a poor college student...well having the meetup in my home state would help.

Plus...whirly-bird lizards.
