Sorry it's just been uneventful with the universe of Avatar. I've been occupied with college and other things like Medal of honor warfighter. But when the next big avatar thing come out, we might have a resergence. I've been writing my fan-fiction over the months to keep myself connected.

These posts say it. There's not a lot happening right now, but I think that after a while, a site like ToS gets comfortable, so to speak - everything has been discussed to some extent, people are familiar with what's happening. Sometimes it's hard to come up with something new, and forcing rediscussion of old things tends not to go well.

Maybe it's time for a thread - I'm certainly never giving up.

Ateyo and I are very active with environmental issues, and a minor perk of that is that it keeps us connected to the reason that the movie was made. It wasn't just the money, because he uses a lot of the money to push his environmental agenda.

I just thought I'd log in for the first time in what feels like over 9000 (lol) months, its sad to see how inactive this place has become, kinda miss the people on Skype too, had some great laughs on there at the time. D:

I don't find it's dead around here, but I've been told that's because I was never around when it was particularly active.

well, compared to the beginning of the avatar fandom.. things really did decrease like hell in general.. But well, not all people do disappear as it seems luckily :)

I just ended up here after a cafuffle with AF.

I think a big part of it is, at least for me, that the whole Avatar obsession just died. When I got into it, I was 16 and socially retarded. The idea of Pandora is all well and good when your life sucks, but once I actually started living I really got over it and moved on. I can't even make it through the movie any more, I get bored.

I mean, it's a cool movie and the effects are stunning, but past that the universe itself just isn't that expansive. Star Wars has a huge extended universe and numerous facets that allow for loads of new material in the form of video games, novels, comics, etc, which is why it has such a strong and growing fan base. Avatar just doesn't offer that much to expand upon past fan fiction.

I'm sure there will be a surge of interest when the next film comes out, but for the next couple of years I wouldn't expect much.

I ran into this sentiment a couple of weeks back in the Shoutbox. I reduced my posting on this forum after that. Not saying you're wrong or bad for feeling that way, just that you're not alone in that opinion, even here.

Well, why just can't we enjoy it as it is... a good message :)

It definitely has the potential to be a way bigger thing, so I was pretty excited when JC talked about making it that way. Like everyone else, I just wish it wouldn't take so long.

I thought there already was a thread like that, but I would always support a new one ;)

Everytime I'm drunk I tend to browse this forum, dunno why, but I do. I'm now looking for the video that Alan made about Earth and Avatar and I cannot find it. Blame the scotch. LOL

If anyone wants to lend a hand, please post a link to the vid to satisfy my cravings to watch it again. In the mean time, I will watch the movie in 3D and re-capture that old feeling.

Of course there will be. The sequal to the biggest movie (box-office wise) of all time will bring new members, new threads, new memories. Look back on these past 4 years and all one movie has done.
