Hi there!

Hello, I guess you can call me Androgyn here. :) I'm a student at an art college from Canada. I joined here awhile ago but haven't been able to say anything as I'm a bit shy and I'm not a big user of forums.

The main reason why I finally decided to start talking here is because I can really relate to this forum's main quote on the front banner: "The People say, Eywa will provide. With no home, no hope, there was only one place they could go..." As an Avatar fan, I feel I have no home when it comes to my love for Pandora and the Na'vi. I have no friends who like the movie and I've experienced stigma for appreciating it. :( I've been put down for liking it and I've heard negative comments about it at my college and on the internet. I'm not sure if it's alright for me to talk about the Avatar-haters out there here, so I won't go into further details. In the end, I'm hoping that I can find a home as an Avatar fan here.

I only know some basic words of the Na'vi language and one goal of mine is to dress up as my own Avatar self someday. Yet as I said before, I don't know anyone else to really share that kind of stuff with. So I look forward to connecting with all of you and maybe I'll be able to find someone in my town who I can safely say "Kaltxi" to! :)

Well, Kaltxi ! Welcome and hope you'll enjoy your stay here :)

Welcome :)

We've all been there with that love for Avatar, and I find the best way to deal with idiots is simply to ignore them, because really, they don't matter. ToS has certainly helped me and many others with things many, many times.

Hey there! Let me be the first to ask about your name! Why's your name Androgyne?

Hi again! Sorry I haven't replied sooner, winter semester for college just started again for me so things have been busy. Anyways, thank you very much for the warm welcome! :shy:

*nods* Yeah, I try to avoid seeing unfairly negative stuff about Avatar, but sometimes it'll just pop out of nowhere at me IRL or on a website I frequently visit like Memebase. I understand that the movie isn't perfect but it's still tough to hear crap about it sometimes. Even in an ART COLLEGE I can't make any work about Avatar or talk about it without getting stigmatized for it. :( I'm glad that I'm at least in better company here for it now!

I picked that nickname because I really identify with it on a personal level. It's a long story that I'm unsure about talking about here right now, but in short I've always felt stuck between a rock and a hard place when it came to stereotypical gender expectations in society. :( Maybe I'll explain more on that in the future.

Oh, plus I find the word Androgyne pretty cool. :shy:

But yeah, thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I may not be active everyday because of college, but at least I'm finally starting to talk here now! :xD:
