Everything that is wrong with Avatar in 4 minutes or less
 

This is actually pretty funny. It's done tongue firmly in cheek. Those guys made similar videos so far on:

• The Dark Knight Rises
• Prometheus
• Looper
• The Hunger Games
• The Avengers
• The Amazing Spiderman

Go have a look. You might have to pause the video or watch it again a few times because the guy speaks really fast (it is subtitled tho, thankfully).

Of course, many of them can be explained or are simply silly but some are actually true and many of them have been discussed in this forum before.

A few of them are pretty funny (Number 21: There's a skull marking making an "Oh" face on Mo'hat's forehead :xD: )

OK, some aren't really mistakes, some are excusable via backstory, but yeah, some are pretty silly. ("Script supervisor's note ends up in the script!" :xD: )

I'm actually surprised that he didn't bring up the river falling off the flying mountains. :P

Actually Clarke, that waterfall could have made sense, given that:

1) It was actually a lake on the island overflowing from a recent downpour

2) The island would be large enough and the magnetic levitation could support a large-ish body of water.

This would require some math, of course, but there are no other plausible explanations. When I went on that hiking trip in CO with Sarah, Mikko, and Aketuan, we hiked to a montane lake that was little more than a wide, shallow pond in my book, but there was obvious weathering from water outside the rim of the "lake", where water was probably cascading down the side of the mountain immediately after rain and during heavy snowmelt. Something similar could happen on one of the floating mountains.

The maths says, "The mountains are magic in the first place." :P

No its not magic its the magnetic field caused by the Unobtainium :angry:

We had a discussion about this on IRC.

Magnets that big would end up tearing each other apart, unfortunately.

However, they could work around this by creating a special property of Unobtainium that keeps this from happening, or maybe a special property of unobtainium ore (Pandorite?) that would serve as a work-around.

It still wouldn't be a perfect solution, but it wouldn't be science fiction without the fiction.

Unless Unobtanium is actually Cavorite, I can't see a way of getting that to work.

But he provides a plausible explanation before that. :P (IMO, as a sci-fi writer, you can't give us a plausible-but-inaccurate explanation and then, when someone points out that it is inaccurate, turn around and say that you weren't trying to give a serious explanation in the first place. That's just failing to admit your mistake.)

If that plausible but inaccurate explanation isn't included in the movie itself, I honestly don't give a ****.

The only mistake in Avatar was calling it unobtanium....such a dumb uncreative word..

I may be the only one, but I didn't find that video funny at all.

I did not find it the least bit funny either, but honestly if one where to thread through any film made and list the flaws you could easly make a fun of all of them so whats the point Cameron has taken some of listed points quite seriously like The Na'Vi are a peaceful people "Yet" join to together for a violent battle at the end of the film.. A Kitchwa tribal elder who schooled him on this issue , ( Avatar in the Amazon - YouTube ) is about to eat her words ( Ecuadorean tribe will 'die fighting' to defend rainforest | Environment | The Guardian ) while many people try and pick apart this film for its flaws one has to honestly wonder what there true agenda is.. people realy dont like having the finger pointed back at there own inner accountabilty and react in a typical egotistic human manor , find every tiny flaw in such film and point it out to re-empower themselves this is simple primal human tribalistic behavyor and nothing new.

The joke is that they're pointing out flaws even where there aren't flaws. Christ.

Unfair! We don't have to take it seriously to love it. ;)
